BETTER THAN S1

story - a lot happened compared to the first season. althought the beginning can be a litle bit draggy

acting/cast - still the same the actor's actions looked realistic so it's fine. nothing mind blowing though.

music - the important scenes used a variety of songs compared to the last series, so that's good.

rewatch value - as a whole season, this is more rewatchable than s1 because a lot happened compared to the first one. while if ur gonna watch certain lovey-dovey scenes, i am not so sure because this season had more serious tone than the last one. it's just based on what ur gonna rewatch.

Sotus s stands out from the other series because of how mature the characters are. The chemistry between Kongpob and Arthit is amazing. I also liked how not all female characters were vilified, as some are good characters which the audience can support and love. This season is bittersweet and nostalgic because it incorporates flashbacks of season 1, reminding us of the good times. Sotus s portrays how school and real life are not the same, and how the characters struggle with the changes. It is this transition whcih makes this season so emotional and realistic. Both Arthit and Kongpob's personal growth and internal struggles are portrayed very well. The cinematography is also beautiful.

A great continuation of the series. Tbh a little frustrating at times, because of the realistic real-world work-place problem (dmn you John). I kept expecting for Arthit to finally had enough and assert himself, but I guess he did the big gesture on the important thing.
Too bad Wad doesn't appear; I find Day a little too stubborn to my liking.

The biggest thing I'm disappointed about is the intimacy; Arthit is a little too shy, it seems, even though they have been together for 2-3 years. Idk, I just wanted more of the small things: a little peck, little touches.
Still, they both are cute, and Kongpob is really adorable

I wonder how i missd this before

I really love this drama.. actually these two days i lived in it... but i love 1st one more.. actually two actors chemistry is too good and thire acting also good but sadness is writer not developed thire relationship.. it could be soo much better if they had more cuddling seen at least one back hug ?.. no back hug, no cheak kissing at least they should hve hold hands more... i think writer dont like cute romance ? but actors manage hold us with thire acting and expressions..

Actually i love arthit at first he looks like ememotionless rude man but look at now somtimes he looks like stubborn girl n sometimes like little kid.. and i really love his shyness face and the way he roll his eyes ??

And suprizingly i know n fammilier with lot of actors and actresses in this drama. They are play supporting rolls n some of them now acting main leads also ❤️
Actully overall it is cool drama i wonder how i missed it before ❤️❤️

This was aired 6 years ago but this is still better than most of Thai BL's after it.

During my SOTUS day, I mentioned that the hazing plots made the series stronger. In comparison to SOTUS S, all plots (hazing, romantic relationship and work) are very commendable. The hazing in SOTUS S is much better in every aspect. Their relationship far exceeds my expectation. The work-related issues are what I like the most. In reality, the issues are quite relatable. I really appreciate the valuable lessons that they are trying to show us. Well, if you don't notice it, I saw it clearly.

Let me talk about the characters. Kong, since SOTUS, he's that kind of person whose personality is truly remarkable. He knows what he really wants. His actions are always genuine. On the other hand, Arthit always gets on my nerve. But luckily, although his actions come with regret, he's good at getting back at the right place and at the perfect time. The side characters are fairly balanced and well-thought. Just to mention, Cherry is the only gay so far in Thai BL that I find admiring and not annoying. The actor who played his role is quite good actually. I've seen him first at 2gether series. The only misstep here is Durian's nosy behavior. I don't mind John because he got his own karma. But Durian? Who's this unreasonable person that decided the Human Resource Manager to be the nosiest employee? That was such a reckless move and I hate it.

Thanks to Bonus (the red lovely Betta), I don't mind the product placements. I have lots of Bettas at home and I love how they show Bonus and make me love my Bettas more.

If you watched SOTUS, this is a must-watch.

If you haven't watched SOTUS, watch it so you can enjoy this series.

If you've read my review for SOTUS, you will see that I absolutely was not a fan. I thought it was incredibly overhyped, as well as just minimally produced and uneventful. However, I'm glad that Krist and Singto's chemistry was strong enough through the rough writing that I was still interested in following their journey because SOTUS S delivered in every way that SOTUS didn't.

I always knew that I liked Krist and Singto's chemistry together but I wasn't fully convinced of Kongpop and Arthit's relationship by the end of SOTUS. It felt underdeveloped. But with SOTUS S, we get to see them together. I loved watching them discreetly navigate their relationship in a professional setting. I loved the nuanced development of Arthit slowly beginning to show affection towards Kongpop publicly. It began from the very start and finished on an incredibly sweet end. It even makes me willing to overlook a couple scenes where Kongpop and Arthit interacted as a new couple (a couple that hasn't been dating for 2 years; a couple that are still learning someone).

The 2nd season improved immensely on production also. The sound-mixing was so much better. The color correction was a lot better AND consistent. But with that, I have to mention that the best thing that came out of the 1st season was that the female characters were written with personalities and felt like an important part of the show. Once the focus of SOTUS S shifts completely to Arthit's work environment, the female cast consists of Arthit's colleagues. While I can say that they don't have interchangeable personalities, I'm afraid I can't find much else positive to say about them. But, to be fair, I didn't really care for any of the supporting cast. I would have much rather had side plots involving the college seniors, though I can understand how following so many different internships wouldn't be smart. Which is why, objectively, I can't fault the writing. The least we could have gotten was some M/May development after seeing the entire setup for it in the previous season. The lack of payoff is unsettling.

Overall, I can see now why SOTUS is so hyped. Even though I didn't enjoy the first season much, I can even understand how it can seem somewhat of enjoyable on a rewatch when you have complete knowledge of Kongpop and Arthit's journey.

A slow start ultimately leads to a satisfying conclusion for this couple

*Will touch on SOTUS The Series in this review*

When I first started watching this I thought I found myself in a slump as I felt disinterested in watching. As I continued to watch I realized I wasn't in a slump, only that the first few episodes never really showed any purpose or a driving force to progress the series forward. When you look at the first series, you understand that the story revolves around the main couple, whether theyʻll get together, as well as trying to understand what the purpose of the SOTUS system is. All that is set-up from the beginning and its clear. But with SOTUS S, it's not as clear what the main storyline is supposed to be. The first five episodes or so act as a set-up to get the main characters together in one place so that the tension and "story" could actually build. I use "story" in quotations because there didn't seem to be one main story the series tried to follow. There seemed to be small mini stories that drove the plot along, which is why my rating of story is a little lower, it just seemed disjointed.

However, once you get through the first few episodes, and the characters start to share the same space, thats when things get interesting. Iʻm glad they gave us Special Scenes after each episode, I donʻt know if I would have made it to the end with out them. They tantalized me enough to get them to continue. Iʻm also glad they introduced other side couples to keep my interest as well, although I am disappointed that they never really got a gratifying conclusion, only implying a certain end for those characters.

I think my main issue with this series while watching it was the fact that the main couple didnʻt act like a couple at all. I was so confused after the conclusion to SOTUS. It seemed that the relationship went back to being one-sided, which I was disappointed in. But after finishing this series I realized that this was a great companion series to the original. With SOTUS, we follow Kongpob on his emotional journey and his personal story to finding love. Whereas SOTUS S provides a story and emotional growth for Arthit, specifically in learning to accept himself and his love for Kongpob. The way I see it, SOTUS is the story of the how their love began, while SOTUS S is the continuation of the story after "Happily Ever After" and what obstacles need to be addressed in order to keep that relationship flourishing.

So although it is kind of uneven in its storytelling, ultimately SOTUS S serves as a great conclusion to the story of Kongpob and Arthit and builds on what was shown in the first series.

SIDE NOTE: TW; outing someones sexuality
Is outing of people a normal thing in Thailand because this happened in both series, in SOTUS a throw away line outed a side character, but to make it a major plot point in this series did not sit right with me.

SOTUS S: This series is much different and even more interesting, and in my opinion it should have been listed here separately, as it is on more accurate Asian servers (eg MyDramaList), IMDb, "our role model", falters in this regard. The flaw remains for me - the boys like each other, but without touching, sex, and even after several years of relationship, the boys do not live together, and when one of them persuades the other to go to him once in a while, they look at books on the bed. But otherwise a much more interesting story, more variety, finally school and idiotic orders of mentors to their freshmen are left behind. Refreshing for me was my "sweetheart" Yong (Guy Sivakorn Lertchuchot), whom I already know from Tonhon Chonlatee and 2gether.

short and simple

honestly not bad i was super bored all the way up to ep 8 but from there onwards it got better honestly the whole arthit being distant made me dislike it i thought it was because it was played by krist (we all know why id think this so lets not get into it) but ep 12-13 and some bonus scenes tell us that his character was written that way and this show isnt actually bad conflicts get solved pretty quickly the chemistry that was there wasnt bad singto thank u for carrying. the writing was okay i feel like this show does give a deeper meaning thats why a lot of people liked it.

now onto ep 9-13 thats when everything kind of came together i started to like arthit character a bit more the i love you scene was actually really beautiful i teared up a bit ep 13 was perfect it showed how affectionate arthit can be it was just him being scared of being out but now that he is he can loosen up more. i wish we got a gl side couple in this they hinted at s1 that one of that prae liked girls but it was radio silence during s2 and in the last ep we get to see the girlfriend as for m and may all i gotta say is run may run far away. as if the 2 side couples i liked the intern one but the other seemed meh to me since we didnt get to see any development but ig its cute. honestly idek but i did prefer s1 to s2 its enjoyable after ep 8 u just gotta hang in there. the ending is really cute aswell
overall its 7/7.5

worth watching if you loved Sotus

I found the first half of it a bit draggy & honestly I had no interest in the side plots or the office stuffs. I wanted the series to just focus on the main leads. It did got better as the series progressed & the later half of it had a really good storyline that made watching this series worthwhile.

For me it was an okayish watch & also I only watched Arthit & Kongpob scenes or scenes that affected their story. I didn't care about the rest of it but made sure that I had a gist of what was happening. So the scenes which didn't feature the main leads were mostly on fast forward or 2x mode.

I Don't Know if I Love it or Hate It

Despite my headline, SOTUS S is BL to watch if you've watched SOTUS. It takes a closer look into Arthit and Kongpob's relationship after they have been together for 2 years. It also focuses on the difference between love as a student, and love in the real world.

~~ STORY ~~

Taking place 2 years after the original series, Kongpob is a 3rd year and the head hazer. Arthit is just starting his first day as a working man in society. SOTUS S focuses on how Arthit and Kongpob deal with bringing their relationship into the real world, while comparing it to their days as a student.

Personally, watching this series was hard. The contrast between the real world and school was too different. Kongpob and Arthit's days in University was fun and exciting, while the Arthit in the workplace was boring. While realistically true, SOTUS S is a fictional drama, so they could have spiced things up a little more. The series was a little boring at first, leaving the audience wondering why Arthit is giving Kongpob a hard time when there is nothing to have a hard time about. Even if Kongpob goes out of line and starts interning at Arthit's workplace and moves in next door, it seems like a non-issue. You get to see your boyfriend more and he's not bothering you. What's the problem? It's only when rumors spread about Kongpob and Arthit dating does the drama finally get interesting.

While very realistic, I felt the series was too realistic that it took away from the fun while watching it. I ended up skipping lot's of Arthit's scenes because it was too boring and mundane. Kongpob's university life and all of the students were much more fun to watch than Arthit's scenes. However, as a fan of Arthit and Kongpob, you have to watch the series because it really does give a peak into their day-to-day lives.

ARTHIT x KONGPOB

Taking place 2 years after SOTUS, you can see that they are indeed a couple that will last the test of time. Arthit is comfortable enough with Kongpob to show his weakness and Kongpob is still only thinking about Arthit. The only issue I had with them is that they both still have communication issues... Which they are more than comfortable with, so it's frustrating. Arthit is always thinking about Kongpob, so he doesn't want to bother him with his own issues, which is similar to Kongpob. The worst part is that they know that about each other, so they are willing to forgive the other for not communicating properly. I guess it's okay since they know and understand that, but most of their dramas could be resolved by communication. Kongpob could have told Arthit about the internship and moving next door, while Arthit could have asked for more space from Kongpob, or even asked Kongpob to move in with him.

Either way, they are a couple that's going to last. Kongpob has stopped being as cheeky as not to fluster Arthit too much, while Arthit is more expressive of his feelings to Kongpob. Arthit is still shy about being open about their relationship, but he is learning to open up more to make Kongpob more comfortable.

~~ OVERALL ~~

I really loved how they showed Kongpob and Arthit's relationship, but I really found Arthit's workplace storyline to be super boring. I don't know if I liked it or not because of it.

Watch SOTUS S for Arthit and Kongpob... But you can skip anything and everything at Arthit's workplace until after the company beach party where Arthit and Kongpob's relationship is exposed. After that it's amazing.

Mixed emotions

Ook as I'm pointing out mixed emotions, definitely it is what I mean...Sry but I can't say I totally fell in love with the series, neither I can say I hate it .I didn't write a review for SOTUS season 1, so coming here directly watching SOTUS S ...I do get the story focusses on the realistic side of what gay couples goes through..But frankly speaking I didn't at all like the transition in Arthit's character...Come -on your lover your boyfriend is doing so much for you, if u love the person tell him, How much you love him!! Keeping numb not speaking up your feelings is definitely a weak point in every relationship..And plz I can't find Arthit behaviour , yea he has a moody personality..But keeping that personality throughout the whole drama just didn't work for me...Only I felt bad for kongpob in the whole process..This dude was doing so much for Arthit , and Arthit was just like - okay..Not even trying from his side..Like really!! I didn't at all liked it. I just felt frustrated seeing Kongpob giving his 100% in the relationship and Arthit just getting away like that..And many people confronting Arthit character, that he is a very shy person, and it was new for him to accept fully, his full attention on what society would think!! Ook I understood; I understood that point..That will forever be a problem for lgbt people and I can truly understand that..But telling Kongpob is super rich so it's okay for him to accept his relationship so openly...No !! You can't say that!! How can u say? if someone is rich it's easy for them to move on with society..This doesn't make any sense...And I feel kongpob has more pressure on him, because he is rich , he has high standard in society ..For him it would have been more difficult, to openly accept his relationship in public..Being gay, society would talk about him..It somehow can affect kongpob business..And rich people need a heir to carry on thier generation...These aspects I don't think people noticed..How equally it was difficult for kongpob to move on with his relationship ...Not only Arthit..And all I saw in this kongpob only giving his 100% Arthit just being afraid of every damn thing...But yes, lastly Arthit understood that if he will be more late, he would lose kongpob forever..After seeing Kongpob leaving his dorm and giving his speech on the last day of his internship, he knew he can't be more late..This is his only opportunity to let him know how much he loves him...But alll these happened at the last episode..That's too late character realisation.. If this would have been carried out before in the series..I guess we could have seen more Characterization of Arthit personality... All I saw, Arthit being the most shy person..I don't feel any justice was done to kongpob or Arthit character.. Compared to that season 1 was good, following the sotus system. But sotus S was definitely not what I expected...A full detailed characterization of the Arthit & kongpob...Which I couldn't get it... But the acting was damn good...Singto & krist totally brilliant actors...How well they portrayed their emotions.. Having such brilliant actors, it feels bad their story could have been more better but sry the storyline didn't do any just to these brilliant actors..This all feels bad.. I hope if these two have any new gay series together..I hope they get a script which justifies both of them.. Really hoping these two in future get a new series..Singto ❤️ Krist ❤️
