I chanced upon this movie while browsing through the BL list of MDL and it got me curious. This is the first time that I’ve watched a BL movie that had an explicit scene from the very beginning and it wasn’t even blurred. Get ready to be shocked. At this point, you’d have an idea that the director did not spare any details at all.

STORY: This, I think, is a rated NC-17 Adults only because of the extremely explicit sex scenes as well as a toxic ending. In the beginning, the plot was complex and a little hard to follow. First off, I didn’t understand why Yong-Joon was so mad with Jae-Sung. However, later in the movie, I found out that Jae-Sung got married. I guess that’s where the anger came from. The story is intriguing at the same time I felt that I wanted to scream at all of the characters and I’ll discuss why later on. The story talks about what Yong-Joon would do for Tae-Kyu. What extreme measures he took just to be able to take care of him. How in the middle of the movie Yong-Joon became conflicted when Jae-Sung suddenly appeared. I don’t like how the movie ended. The way Tae-Kyung blackmailed Yong-Joon by threatening him that he will end his life is something that I detest. As well as, how the half-blind student took matters into his hands resulting in an individual's death that caused another person's death. It was a succession of terrible events that stemmed from anger.

ACTING/CAST: The acting was so good. Kim Tae Hoon (Yong-Joon) was good in his portrayal. His emotions were out there. You would feel what he felt for every scene. The actor was so good that in a way I hated the character. How Yong-Joon was so inclined to do even the nastiest things just to make sure that Tae-Kyu will be okay. Shin Won-Ho (Tae-Kyu) also did a good job being the naughty, selfish kind of kid that he was. I didn’t like the character being so carefree that he didn’t even notice how troubled Yong-Joon was. That the only thing that he could think of was that he was a burden and would emotionally abuse Yong-Joon. If I were to analyze his personality, I would think that he has emotional and mental issues. Then there’s Choi Jae-Sung (Jae-Sung), the guy who suddenly appeared out of nowhere and was trying so hard to make-up with Yong-Joon. I feel that he could have done a little bit more when it comes to facial expressions.

REWATCH VALUE: If you have been diagnosed with depression, I would suggest that you don’t. But if you can take the scenes, the emotional entanglement, then go ahead.

This is what life is for some people.

This was a raw view of a bad relationship. Getting together and staying for the wrong reasons. Unfortunately we are given very little information on the why’s that result in this. The end also has to be assumed. These unhealthy relationships happen and continue to this day. Regardless of the gender. The actors did a good job with what they had. The main couple was disfuncional and their vision towards life was hopeless. Our second North Korean on the other hand. Stayed the course. We can assume that even though the pain, made an effort to integrate himself to society.

It was meh...

I didn't know what to expect as I started watching this, but it was not half as bad as some other comments made it out to be.

First off, the acting was pretty good considering the cast. Honestly, I didn't recognize anyone from other shows I;ve watched. But they all did a fantastic job portraying their characters.

The story wasn't bad either. A little confusing what with that half blind boy and his jerk of a father, but I'm assuming that had something to do with why Yong Joon didn't wand Tae Kyu to have the toy gun. The 18+ scenes were explicit as hell but they just added more to the story.

Would I rewatch this? Probably not. It wasn't bad but for me it wasn't epic enough to keep me coming back. Maybe once in a blue moon.

THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL BL MOVIE..... I already watched this but wth I never knew that was the ending

Story: I thought this will like "I like you , I like you very much" T.T I really hate this kind of story unlike "I like you , I like you very much" even though they fight and have explicit scene the ending still happy because they got back together but this movie is so depressing (BOTH MOVIES ARE AMAZING!!!)

Acting: AMAZING I'm speechless because the actors did a great Job

Rewatch Value: 10/10 all I can say

Conclusion: This is so good to watch yet kinda sad but overall THIS IS REALLY AMAZING MOVIE TO WATCH

confused

what's for sure watching this u get none of the relationship's were/are healthy - Tae Kyu for one is just messed in the head and maybe his mentioning not having family or that he will get female clients and not male - cause now he with Yong Joon (says it jokingly, as this dude has no intention of lightning the financial load, that's Yong Joon's problem). i guess it goes to explain why Tae Kyu is messed-up, as assuming he been on the streets from a young age. and the only one willing to love and take care of him (finally) unequivocal is Yong Joon . that's why he is so desperate and possessive of him - sadly i wonder if love even enters in this equation . as Tae Kyu is very selfish - its like he is living in a world of his own, where he could care less how Yong Joon makes money to buy the meat he wants of the daily, let alone pays for the roof over his head or anything else he needs/wants, while he goofs around with that stupid bb gun - how Yong Joon supports them, is not his problem or a blimp on his radar, he just does his thing - shit all - and Yong Joon picks up after him, literally.

the whole situation with the kid and the injured eye is confusing, cause at the start (before the scene where the father threatens to put out the cigarette on Tae Kyu's eye - and eye for an eye cause he did that to his kid, i assume) i was sure Tae Kyu and the kid r one and the same, cause Tae Kyu mentions a disability in his left eye (but he's called for mandatory army service and usually if u got a disability they don't draft u - plus he doesn't look like he has problem with his eyes - brain, maybe, but that's another matter) the same eye the kid's got patched-up and the kid kinda looks like Tae Kyu (just younger). so was confused and unsure WTH was going on - and whether the hints "dropped" were supposed to mean something, that was just going over my head.

so mentioning all of the above hard not to feel really bad for Yong Joon, who only wants love and as Jae-sung (unlike in the description betrays Yong Joon, when he gets married to a female) guess that was the real reason for him defecting from North Korea. he comes to a new country and has to deal with all entailed, which isn't ever easy, when ur all alone in the world and his finding Tae Kyu in similar situation - they latch onto each other. not a healthy relationship by any means - considering the lengths Yong Joon goes through to support Tae Kyu. and yet as he has no one, i guess he rather suffer everything, just to have someone who is dependent on him - giving him the delusion of belonging - i.e family.

Jae-sung somehow also defects. as he put it "...his life went to hell after Yong Joon left..." so "getting" that he couldn't forget Yong Joon or live with a woman he comes in search of Yong Joon, only to find him in a mess - not that Yong Joon welcomes him with open arms. but his "...i'd rather live together in shared sorrow..." was a bit laughable considering Tae Kyu didn't share shit - even when confronted by the blackmailing father, he would walk away as if it had nothing to do with him, leaving Yong Joon to deal with the problem - and even after he wouldn't ask, wonder or offer any help, it was like it had nothing to do with him - that's why was wondering WTF Yong Joon was talking about, when he was telling Jae-sung he better off now. that was so far from the truth - its like he was ready to cut his nose to spite his face - get he was angry at Jae-sung and not ready to forgive him. but he wasn't ready to give him up either. and he for sure wasn't ready to stop anything with Tae Kyu - but i guess its cause he knew how lost Tae Kyu would be without him - bottom line this a mess. so everything ending the way it did - not astounding. and yet confusing as we get an end scene of Jae-sung living in Yong Joon apartment as if nothing happened and i'm like "no!! i need more info, about what went down with both Yong Joon & Tae Kyu..." but it is what it is

side note - there was So much going on psychologically that the sexual scenes, as erotic and in ur face as they were - all fell to the sidelines -

Acting and story

Been watching movies and series for a long time but this is the first time I'm writing a reviews. The acting was really good. Not a typical bl story. It's a bit tragic for me but I was moved how the their passionet about love and the struggles they had. It might be look very simple but it was very deep story about what a person can do for his or her loved one's and how to conquer and moved on after the failure. It was executed very well. There's a explicit scenes so you might want to watch it alone or make sure there will be no young ones around. This up.

Not my cup of tea despite interesting premise

This BL movie follows the story of one North Korean deserter as he escapes to South Korea and settles there, facing quite a lot of difficulties. The premise of this picture was very interesting but unfortunately I had some trouble appreciating the scenario overall. I usually like love triangle, but it missed the mark for me here because I was not able to empathize with the characters and found some of their actions not sensible.

It is a very raw, brutal as well as surprisingly graphic movie. I think the shock factor was priviledged by the director and screenwriter rather than the likeability (or at least just building) of the characters. It was not a boring watch at all but I would have preferred the plot to focus more on characterization as well as making the protagonists' choices be more reasonable and understandable for the viewer.

The acting was overall okay. The actors had really intense sex scenes and gave it their best. As the relationships evolve and get more intertwinkled, as well as the situation the characters live through gets more difficut, the acting remains all along pretty strong with good portray of the most emotional scenes. I think where it was lacking was mostly relating to the chemistry : I felt the passion and rage, but I had trouble believing in the love and romance...I think it might be again more due to a directing/screenwriter choices but I would have preferred the film to take another approach.

I would not recommend this to people because I cannot say that I enjoyed the movie. As it is quite short ans has an interesting and original premise, so you might want to give it a go if you are looking for a pretty raw BL. It leans strongly into the melodramatic genre which I would have appreciated more with a better characterization and storylines. Be aware that this movie can be very triggering: it is graphic, violent and depicts very toxic relationships.

Sad and sordid

Let's start from the fact that this is a very hard film with marginalized characters condemned to a sad and hopeless existence in which there is a past but also tragic love relationship between two men. Condemned to live without hope living poorly exploited labor and one of them sexually in order to protect the new partner from him another desperate man who clings to him eagerly. three men condemned to hell with a hard and realistic scenery of cold tones and scenes of dirty decoration. subtle music just to underline the harshness. It leaves you with enormous sorrow and sadness to see it, no matter how well narrated and acted it is. sad and sordid

SADNESS

ok y'all, I just finished watching this a couple of minutes, and what I have to say is that it was great but bad because of what went on near the end! I CRIED LMAO LIKE MY POOR Tae-Kyu, he deserved better, and IDC ABOUT Yong-Joon like, get over the past already! I would recommend it, but the ending will break you, in my opinion. High key wanted to get down with Jae-Sung, like UGH GET OUT OF THE PICTURE, BRUH! NO ONE EVEN REMEMBERED YOU UNTIL YOU CAME BACK lmao.

Well?

Well...
This one was kinda confusing.
-----
The plot is kinda... confusing too. But I guess that's the story in general. At first when Tae Kyu went to the military, and Jae Sung appeared, I was so confused. I didn't understand who he was. I thought he was Tae Kyu for a second.?
-----
Also, Tae Kyu character was kinda childlike. First thing when I saw him, I thought he was Yong Joon's brother. He seemed so young, and the fact the he played all day with that gun didn't help. Then that night they had sex, and I was like ???. Didn't expect that.
---
Now... Jae Sung isn’t shameless at all I guess? he watched two times Tae Kyu and Yong Joon having sex.. like man... c'mon.
---
Soooo, speaking about Jae Sung, I didn't like his character at all. Like your relationship with Yong Joon finished, it's over.
Also Yong Joon that kisses Jae Sung, even worse. Yeah, he may like or "love" Tae Kyu, but you don’t do these things...
