I literally finished this Kdrama one minute ago and I'm here to tell everyone to drop everything what you are doing this moment and watch this drama! You won't regret it.

I start with the storyline. This isn't the story of a cute couple who falls in love with each other and ends up never leaving one another. This is the story of a couple not wanting to be a couple anymore. You probably heard of the cliche that every good romance movie/series/drama ends with marriage or having a child or just ending up together. And this is exactly what this drama critizises. Who said life will be beautiful and without hardships after marriage? Guys, this drama is about reality (obviously not because it's called "Go back couple" and you should know that you can't go back in time). This drama tells a story about regrets and youth but at the same time about hurtful but beautiful memories and adulthood.

Okay enough with the sweet talk. You want something to laugh? Watch this drama. You love references to other dramas? Watch this drama. You don't want the typical story of falling in love but rather learning to love again? Watch this drama. You want to cry your soul out of your eyes? Watch this drama.
I hope that were enough reasons and if not watch this drama and tell me more because I honestly don't see a reason to not watch this drama.
Enough about the plot and what this is about because you should have already read the story summary.

The story is about youth and adulthood at the same time and the cast still did such an amazing job! Nearly every role was present in past and future and every single character in this drama looked so natural. Even though it kind of seemed like they didn't age (obviously) they had complete different personalities but still so much in common with their past self. Maybe this doesn't make sense at the moment but you will realize it as soon as you watch it (why are you still here anyway? Go watch it!).

Okay don't let me start with the OSTs. My poor poor heart. Why would someone be this cruel? I had enough reason to cry because of the sad reasons every character acted the way he did but no, destroy my heart with the sad soundtracks why not. Anyway if you're not new in the kdrama world there will be some OSTs that will remind you of something ;)
To sum this all up I'm going to say one last thing: the first half of this drama was funny and enjoyable with cute and heartbreaking moments, but the second half oh lets not talk about that. That was just hurtful. I've never seen more realistic choices of fictional characters then in this drama. Everything made sense and because it was this realistic it made me realise that realitiy is cruel. The world we live in is cruel. That's what this drama is about. Beautiful life? Not exactly, more like painful reality smashed infront of your salad.
Please watch this drama, you won't regret it because this tells a real story.
And if you still don't see why you should watch this one last but most important reason: There is this super cute baby that is literally the reason for all pain and for all happiness that exists in this world. That child is reason enough to watch this drama.
Now go!

Choices, consequences, and (2nd) chance

I think it's fair to say most of us have thought about what would've been different if we had made a different choice way back when. I would also bet my money to say that most of us also thought about how nice it would be if we are given a time machine to make that different choice given a chance, especially if we aren't at a good place right now. Cue to our wonderful series, Go Back Couple as we explore the different choice our 38 year-old main couple, Choi Ban Do and Ma Jin Joo make (or will make) when they find themselves back in their 18 year-old self after filing for divorce right at the first episode.

To say this story doesn't know how to tug our heartstrings is an understatement. This series really explores in depth the journey of couple relationship from falling in love to married to divorce, first loves as we remember them (vs what actually happened), our idealism about life in our younger self vs our realism (and jadedness) about life in our adult self. These are moments, stories, and messages that one would appreciate differently at different phases in life, making this series one of the top for rewatch.

Choi Ban Do and Ma Jin Joo were really well portrayed and well cast. Both were able to capture the nuance and character of both their older and younger selves. As working professionals, it's easy for us to neglect our loved ones and more importantly, ourselves in the day to day grind of trying to just survive; as university students, it's easy for us to feel like the world is our oyster and we will get whatever we set our mind to. This journey to the past is one that is very much needed by Ban Do and Jin Joo to mend their broken and battered hearts, from realities of life, and it's one that is enjoyable to watch and appreciate.

The supporting casts' stories were also well relayed, especially the second male lead, Jung Nam Gil. Through him, we learn that what we truly seek for is for someone to see us for who we are and to remind us of our strengths we sometimes fail to see in ourselves. While the second female lead's influence is less in the series in comparison, through her, we learn that it's important to do what we really want to do (responsibly of course) because there might come come a day when you can't even if you want to..... Yes, let these messages sinks in for a moment.

All in all, it's a story that's centered on healing and appreciating the moments in life, as fleeting as they may be.

What I loved about this kdrama is how well all the characters are intertwined and how the topic of family, marriage, friendship is put perfectly into every episode. There are a lot of brawling your eyes out episodes but plenty of laughter in between. This is also the first kdrama where I cried every episode, so kudos to them for that. You would think you’d know the motive of the character’s action but each episode’s ending leaves you surprised and glad you were wrong! The writting on this kdrama is brilliant, I just wished they didn’t rush the ending a bit - I wanted more tears! ????

Go back couple is one of my fave time slip drama. Once you watch the drama you will realized how close the story is to real life. Jang Nara and Son Ho Jun is perfect, their portrayal from the present to past are on point. The chemistry is also there. So sad that it's only got 12 episodes as in my opinion I still want to see more story on all the characters in the drama. But I agree that 12 episodes is enough to finished the show.
In life we made a lot of regrets, misunderstandings and suspiscions. Just like in the drama, all that will be solve if we have a good communication to each other. I recommend this drama to all. Worth the watch and it will make you laugh, cry, fall in love and reminisce the past.

WOW.

I don't know where to start. The synopsis sold it as a simple "travel back in time, kiss, and make up" story but it is so much more. I'm glad I took your advice to watch this.

Let me be clear, it's not 100% action-packed from the very beginning. The first 4 episodes are really the main characters getting used to their new life in 1999, so those kind of just set the scene. But starting from episode 5, I couldn't stop! The plot line was so captivating, the main characters all had their unique charm, and that second male lead syndrome, I tell you. I was secretly rooting for Nam Gil the whole time.

The two leads don't have screaming sexual tension, but what they had was many years of love for one another. It's refreshing to watch something like this over regular rom coms because their actions are so realistic. How they look at each other and what they do for each other in 1999 make so much sense. The actors played their respective roles so well and the chemistry in this regard was awesome.

I also really loved the female lead's family dynamics. I think anyone who is not currently living with their mother would relate. Honestly, I didn't cry for the main couple, but my tear ducts just went into full explosion mode when... that plot twist happened in her family. You'll see what I mean in the last episode.

This isn't the first "married couple go back and make up" drama I've watched. I watched Familiar Wife (2018) half a year ago, which had a similar premise. But I'd say Go Back Couple scores higher in my book because of the complex character development for everyone.

my fav genre and my fav kdrama of all time

I can't describe how much I love this drama, only some things like the rain property,a few jokes, and some acting from the supporting roles are annoying but other than that, this drama is really perfect. The jokes are really refreshing except for a few jokes about someone's physique that annoys me. I like the acting of the two main characters. I really like Son Hojun's teary expression. Their chemistry was overflowing. The story development is also very satisfying. I'm currently in a phase where I'm not excited to watch any drama and surprisingly, this drama doesn't bore me at all, what's more, I really like the time-traveling genre. this drama is the perfect spectacle to rebuild feelings

This drama will tear you up and make you a mess

I really didn't expected my basked to be full of tissues bcz of this drama. This K-D caught me hard. I mean by the description and even if you think the story is not that much sad. But the way actors portrayed it, their acting was so livid you won't even know when you get caught up in their emotions.

First time I watch such concept. Couple go back to there teen age. It is well combination of Divorce, Love, belive, responsibilities, misunderstanding, faith, jealousy. It teach peoples way of thinking in teen age and mature age. It shows shades of life.

Negative points are pretty obvious. If they haven't responsibility of child, then what will be dramas end? Will they came together because of only their child? The characterization of their friends, Choi Ban-do parents especially mom, Ma Jin-joo father not enough bright.

But story concept, their dialogues, comedy, ost, editing, direction maturely hold the drama at their best.

Finally! I found a new drama that i can line up with my top 10 all time favorites. This is an amazing drama with full of life lessons. 10/10. Must watch!

It is my 1st time to see/watch the lead man Son Ho Joon in kdrama tv and wondering why did he only have a show just now. He is good looking and very effective actor. His eyes are full of emotions which can make viewers cry and laugh. I hope that he could have more series and tv appearance soon.

With regards to the 2nd man lead actor Chang Ki Yong. I have watch him in Liar and His Lover but he does not standout among others maybe because of limited script. But in this show he definitely stood out! These two actors are awesomely great and very good looking. thankfully they portrayed there roles perfectly.

I know that after this series they will have more projects to come out soon. And im waiting for it.

Absolute hidden masterpiece - you must watch this!

Go Back Couple is a stunning drama that I instantly knew was an actual 10/10 before the show had even ended. The first two episodes hooked me in super deep, the acting of both main leads was incredible and they did a fantastic job portraying their individual sides of the story so well. The scriptwriting really boosted this drama, with little to no cliches and great pieces of comedy in between. The secondary actors also did a great job, especially how funny Go Dok Jae was throughout till the very end.

Jin Joo and Ban Do's journey was raw and geniune and everything I could've asked for. Jang Na Ra and Son Ho Jun did an stellar job with bringing realistic-ness to these characters in the present and past. This show is so captivating you won't want to stop! I binged it in 3 days and it left me happy at the end, I only wish I could watch it all over again for the first time! If you're thinking about it stop and go check it out, you won't regret!

Go Back Couple is the drama that managed to break my boredom with Korean dramas that has been haunting me for months now. If you like sweet, hearth touching dramas, or family and friendship dramas, this show has it all. It also has amazing cast, lovable main and second leads and a great message.

There are so many things that could have gone wrong with this drama, considering how cliche the premise was, yet the writer and the director managed to turn it into something fresh, cute and thought - provoking. It made me question what I would do if I had a chance for a re-do in my life with all the things I know now. It will probably make you think about your life or appreciate your youth, too.

Once again, the premise of the story is very cliche, considering that it's a simple time-travel drama, but the execution of the drama is not. The part of the drama that show the leads as unhappy 40 year old that feel trapped in their life made me feel their pain. The friends and the school part of the drama will probably make you laugh and be happy for the them being able to avoid the 'mistakes' of their youth, just as it made me feel. I assume that the vast majority of the people will find themselves rooting for the secondary leads for at least a part of the drama. The friendships in this drama are adorable, too. I also appreciated the glimpse at Korea in the late 1999. This part was gold. There is a perfect balance of sweet, sad, cringe - worthy and hilarious moments in this drama that makes you go back for more.

One thing that I also have to applaud the writer for is the fact that nothing in this show dragged. Way too often I find myself yawning or skipping through the middle part of most of the dramas. I often also catch myself thinking: oh goodness, just talk and figure out what's going on already! Nothing like that happens here. The show is perfectly paced and things happen and flow very naturally. I assume that the reason for this exemplary pacing is the length of the show. Since it has only 12 episodes, there are no unnecessary fillers in the episodes.

I've only watched two other dramas with Jang Nara but I must say that Ma Jin-Joo is probably my favorite character she ever played. Anyway, this show was amazing from the beginning to the end. I was a mix of emotions while watching this. The acting was so amazing that even the funny and crying scenes were well done.

The relationship between the two main leads was really special and even though I kinda shipped Jin-Joo more with Jang Ki-Young's character, I had no trouble buying into the chemistry and relationships troubles that Jin-Jo and Ban-Do had. It was heartwarming to see the love they had for their son though, It was adorable.

All the side characters were likable and I didn't mind their side stories. My favorite parts of the show were seeing Jin-Jo interacting with her mom. They are probably one of my favorite mother-daughter relationships in a K-Drama so far. The ending was bittersweet and I was really satisfied with it. In the future, I can see myself rewatching this again and again because it was that amazing!
