Mood spoiling end

I just finished watching this movie. While watching I was feeling, it is neither great nor bad enough to drop in between. I was very happy to witness the character development and maturity achieved for both MCs. I like the acting of PBY, she is sweet as always but others are average. I like music. Overall one time watch for people who doesn't mind sad endings.

Looking at the deep love they have I thought they will grow in love and life facing all the problems as they both have feeling for each other but end really spoiled my mood.

Annoying at some point!

I decided to watch the movie after seeing so much positive reviews. I had so much expectations and also sat with a box of tissues because I thought I would need it. But heck, it was nowhere to my expectations.

First things first, the storyline is amazing and something new, but the execution is not well done. It could have been way better if there were'nt unnecessary scenes. The FL's character is so annoying. Throughout the whole movie all they do is to breakup and then hookup.

So the thing is, I could never feel that the FL had same feelings as the ML. Even at some point, I thought she used him because she felt lonely. Once when she had a boyfriend, she didnt give a f about him. But when she realised that the boyfriend is evil, she got back to him. This was PBY's worst acting in my opinion. Her dialogues felt forced and failed to impress me.

The ML did a good job and his character was consistent througout the movie. From the very beginning, he was sure that he loved only and only one girl. No one could change his mind, not even the circumstances. The actor also did a good job in potraying the character.

The breakup was so unnecessary. It was just a matter of stressed talking and misunderstandings, which could be SORTED OUT easily. The FL was too quick to judge, especially when the ML had went through so much just to be with her.

Overall, the plot they chose was really good, but the direction was too bad. Scenes were too fast paced and there were unnecessary forced humor scenes. It could have been a great movie if they path they were going was okay.

why can't love ever be easy

This was a wonderful series. Even though it had a sad ending but it was still was very good. It shows the hardships of love, how a relationship is so hard to get into but so easy to fall apart. It killed me everytime the two leads aren't together. I was like small needle piercing my heart. This shows how the chemistry was so damn good. The actor did very well with their characters. I loved it so much. It was funny, sweet, romantic and sad all at the same time. I also loved at the end when the ML apologize to her, that he realized that she was the one that made him the man that he is today. I love how he bid her farewell even though it was killing him inside. A really bitter sweet movie.

"I Really Regretted A Lot...For Saying I Regretted Meeting You. It's Exactly The Opposite."

"Midnight for Cinderella, 11 pm for Woo-Yeon/Woo Yun..."

Some people gave this movie a bad review, here and elsewhere online, due to the ending...

I wanted to as well at first, but I believe that that director is trying to "say something" by the way this movie ended.

This movie was told from the main male cast, Hwang Woo Yun's (Kim Young Kwang} viewpoint. Much of what I want to say here is how I interpret the main female cast, Hwan Seung Hee' (Park Bo Young) viewpoint, if I may.

Hwang Woo Yun is a happy-go-lucky juvenile delinquent in high school, He probably never had a girlfriend before Seung Hee; if he did, it was only for the "good times" and nothing else. I believe he needed the influence of a girl like Seung Hee earlier in life as well.

I personally would like two see this movie redone, but from Seung Hee's viewpoint.

In a way, Seung Hee needed a Woo Yun in her life as well. Her and her mother, (actress Bae Hae Seon) have been living the life of nomads, trying to stay a step or two ahead of the father/husband (actor Jeon Bae Soo)..He is an alcoholic, abusive apparently to both his family members and blames his wife for his troubles; remember this for later!

Seung Hee, having to stay a step ahead of her father, probably has never had a boyfriend yet; it is implied that they must move every time Daddy finds them again, or suffer from his constant drinking and abuse . I believe that Seung Hee loved her father, but not what he did to her and her mother.

Many reviewers call her "aloof" or "unfeeling" here and on other review sites; I personally believe that she is simply afraid to get close to a guy, any guy, knowing that if her father finds them another move by her and her mother will happen. However, Woo Yun's "bad boy, 'devil-may-care" attitude offers her a glimpse of what it may be like if her and her mother can settle down in one spot long enough to enjoy life for a while. I think she enjoyed not having to be so stoic for awhile!

Seung Hee showed her maturity that she had, and that Woo Yun needed, when she asked him to stop fighting if he wanted to be around her, and she told him, under her breath (by simply using her lips, so her father wouldn't hear her) to "Go!" after her father broke the glass when he forced himself into his wife's and daughter's home. Seung Hee also called Woo Yun and told him that she and her mother were leaving again, due to her abusive father finding them there. Her having to run from her father and not being able to stay in one place is, in my opinion, the reason that she came off what most people call "little or no emotion"; she couldn't afford to show her emotions then have to leave. I also thought it showed great maturity on
Seung Hee's part that she let Woo Yun know why she was leaving and couldn't stay.

While she felt safe from her father, she showed signs of a normal high-school girl, enjoying her time she was with Woo Yun and her fellow high school female students. Do you think you might be somewhat "emotionless" if you did not know how long you can stay in any one place?

They lose contact with each other, and Woo Yun has no real ambition except an unskilled job; that is, until he sees Seung Hee photo in a promo for a university, which finally makes him get off his butt and STUDY for a change. I feel that his parents are proud of his finally shooting for something greater in life!

Woo Yun finally goes to college but finds Seung Hee with a boyfriend; he tried to first sabotage their relationship, then gives her up again when he wins the game to prove her football boyfriend was "throwing the football game' since he had promised both Seung Hee and another girl a weekend for the two of them afterward if his team won, not 'the three' of them! He leaves her upset over the stunt.

They met again when Seung Hee is working in promotions in front of a camera and he also is employed;he drivers her to locations after her ride cancels his taxi service..Woo Yun is again there when she needs him!

While trying to obtain his dream, he visits Seung Hee on-location of one of her shoots and gets hurt saving her, dashing his plans for an athletic career; instead of applying himself, getting a any job and helping her, he tried to get his health back in pursuit of his "dream" athletic job! He could have helped her with any job, then working on getting back his "dream".

This movie depicts how it takes a woman sometimes to get a men motivated for greater things in the real world work: some call this "fate" but other call it physical attraction! This attraction to his lost love is the reason for Woo Yun for finally striving for something greater than a 'burger-flipping' job; it is Woo Yun that gains the most, in my opinion, in this relationship.

Woo Yun went from an amateur athlete dreaming of glory in sports to a teacher, who finds out how big of an ass he was to others while growing up! He matures so much after having to get a real job and put his dreams on hold.

Seung Hee being the more responsible one is paying the bills; however, she tells Woo Yun of a training assignment in Europe for 2-3 years where she can learn to master her profession . But before that can be discussed further, Seung Hee's father dies...again, she really loves her father, but in her pain of losing him, all the pain of trying to live with him while he degraded her and her mother while in his drunken state comes back during the funeral. While Seung Hee is remembering all the things he said and done, Woo Yun opens his mouth and says the one thing that will end their relationship: he is overheard by her saying that "she" could be the reason he cannot make it!

This opens up all the wounds he had caused her in the past, added to this is what her father claimed about his wife/her mother. Seung Hee realizes that Woo Yun is becoming her father! This seals the relationship and Seung Hee takes the job opening and training in Europe that her job offers her.

Woo Yun is left to fend for himself and finally makes the grade to become a teacher. He then finds out how much of a pain he was to his teachers when he finds students under his supervision with the same attitude he displayed when he was a high school student!

In my opinion, had Woo Yun found a job such as this when he and Seung Hee were together, his attitude would have improved and his maturing would have been greatly admired, and appreciated, by Seung Hee.

Both were immature in different ways, but Woo Yun needed to "grow up" more than Seung Hee; on the other hand, she was handicapped in her relations with men due to her father, and that hurt her acceptance of Woo Yun as well.

At the end of the movie, both are mature enough to have a marriage, but not to each other, unfortunately!

I personally like this movie better than the Chinese adaptation entitled My Love (你的婚) (2021):

Both Woo Yun and Seung Hee express their gratitude for each being in the other's life: for Seung Hee making Woo Yun a man, and for Woo Yun for being there for Seung Hee when she needed someone...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjxn216CYaQ whereas You Yong Ci, the female in My Love (2021), didn't say as much to Zhou Xiao Qi, her love for 15 years.

Another great movie about an immature couple getting married and later regretting not sticking it out will be found in Drama Special Season 3: The Wedding Planner (2012), an excellent movie as well!

The cinematography is great, even though some of the shots look like they were done on a hand-held camera...which would how some of the scenes would have been shot if done by a friend with them or them. This to me makes the movie actually more believable as we follow the main cast around town, which almost all of the movie is about.

The music is also great, except for one place, which I figure the director knew better than I about its placement.

The main cast were excellent together and they actually seem to grow as a couple; again, some mention that the female is less emotional than the male lead, but her wariness of establishing a real relationship then having to move again would make this necessary: I actually felt that she was thinking about Woo Yun's feelings should it have happened in the movie.

The support cast did an excellent job in their parts and for supporting the main cast in telling the movie's story.

It is a one to one and a half box of Keenex movie.

RE-WATCH: Yes, but I also think that a movie like this should be mandatory for young people in middle school to watch in order to show them that individuals must give up some of their "needs" and "desires" in order for them to become a compatible couple. Young people are not taught except selfishness these days, and the couple must give up some of their "individuality" so that when the babes come along, they can handle the stress, problems (but also) the pleasures of a family!

Are you ready to fall in love again?

Disclaimer: If you had a first love, the memories will surely come back to you in flashes while watching this movie whether it's sweet, bitter and even bittersweet. I'm not sure what you'll feel watching this if you haven't fall in love before yet but it will surely give you an idea what falling in love means. This is a movie that portrays romance in reality.

I've been eyeing this movie for quite sometime after I saw BoYoung and YeongKwang leading this movie. They are both versatile actors and the posters already shouts 'chemistry' between them so I have no doubt this will be a great movie. So going into it, the plot about first love is a common thing in dramas and movies but the synopsis of getting a wedding invitation from your first love surely makes the audience curious as to what will happen but what I love about this movie is that as soon as it started, I forget that the goal is about the wedding invitation. Instead, it invites me to the world of first love from high school, to college and adulthood until it eventually gave out, what I'm really curious for. The plot build up is consistent, I don't know for others but I find myself engaged to every scene from start to finish.

What I also love about it is that the casts were able to own up to their roles realistically. I was able to picture out what a high schooler looks like, to what a college student looks like and also until they became adults. You can really feel them maturing throughout the movie. Minor flaw though, some transitions where not as smooth as what I usually expect but it's barely noticeable anyway.

This movie seriously flooded me with emotions both positive and negative and I feel like grew up a little bit by just watching it. A great story + amazing script + fantastic portrayal = realistically perfect movie that's just right my alley. I really commend the writers for bringing up this work of art and also for all the staff that made this come to life. As much as I love to spoil, I want you to watch this movie and enjoy the ride of ups and downs through out the movie and realize that it's not about the destination but rather the journey.

Do not watch this movie if you are looking for a light-hearted romance film.

"On Your Wedding Day"

From the title alone, I knew what I was getting myself into when I watched this movie. I usually am not a sucker for sad films, especially those involving romance, but in an uneventful weekend I stumbled into this gem and decided to try something new. Since why not? And I didn't regret it!

First things first, the acting. I originally got interested in this movie because of Kim Young-kwang, and he did not disappoint! His acting was super charming, and he did well in bringing out the playful nature of his character. Park Bo-young did great too, as well as the rest of the cast.

I loved the production and feel of this film. The music/OST did not stand out much to me at all, but it was able to do it's job, especially in the emotional scenes.

So, the acting, production, and music discussed, what else can we talk about? Aha, the story. Browsing through this movie's reviews, I commonly see people giving lower ratings because of the ending. While you may be thinking I'll be presenting a full, written-out essay of objections to counter their claims and prove they're wrong.. I agree with their sentiment. Wholeheartedly. You see, I mentioned I knew what I was getting into the moment I read the title of this movie. Yes, I knew, but nothing could have ever prepared me from the tears and sobbing that would follow. To the person reading this, I only have one piece of advice to give you if you ever plan to watch this: *Do not watch this movie if you are looking for a light-hearted romance film.* Because that is not what you will be getting. All factors considered, this is a film shrouded in reality. It is a realistic story, albeit not a realistic *love* story. As cheesy this may sound, in real life, we don't always get happy endings. And that's okay, because that is how life is. Getting past the initial feelings of dismay from not getting the idealistic ending, which most of us have likely hoped for, I quite like and am content with the ending. It has provided a nice sense of closure not only for the viewers but also for the main leads.

I think that this was a wonderful film and experience. It has given me laughs, joy, warmth, and sorrow. I haven't cried over a TV show let alone a movie in a while, so this was a nice surprise. I really recommend you watch this, whether to just pass some time or don't have something to do, since it will definitely leave you thinking and reminiscing for days to come.

As a last sidenote from me.. in most cases I tend to be a realistic person, or at least I thought I was before I watched this movie. I knew what was going to happen next, but my mind, uncharacteristically, kept on hoping that things would not end the way that I knew it would from the start. Weird, maybe I'm more of a hopeless romantic than I thought..

My life's been a series of impossibles. Impossible is an opinion, not a fact - Hwang Woo Yun

*Spoilers: Ending hinted at

I'm rating this so highly because it was amazing not because I would watch it again. Not because I couldn't watch this 100 times and it would be any less amazing. But because it was so good my heart is still aching so badly. Of course it doesn't help that I watched this to get away from my Reply 1988 heartache. It made it worse not better! What luck I have. To make some comparisons - I'm still heartbroken over Reply 1988 (currently in the middle of my second attempt 4 years later, so heartbroken), it's similar-ish but better than 100 Days of Summer.

I started watching this because I love Kim Young Kwang and Park Bo Young but watching their chemistry on screen was even better than I had imagined. Maybe I will watch this movie again one day after all. Their chemistry was so good.

After watching the movie I read some comments to see if I can get over my heartbreak even 1% and I was laughing at all the comparisons to Reply 1988. I was trying to escape Reply 1988 but I just watched an in-depth shortened version. To quote Reply 1988 "Fate doesn't always come to see you. If you at least use that term, it is during very rare coincidences happening in a critical moment - that's how it is fate. Therefore, Fate has another name called Timing. But Fate and Timing does not only come in coincidences. Those abundant choices lead you to desperation creating that moment like a miracle. Unwavering surrender and decisions without hesitation makes the timing."

More in-depth spoilers below:

Watching this I felt like they wanted to turn a typical Hollywood romance film on it's head. Seriously, which Korean plays American football? To name some films they wanted to flip - Sweet Home Alabama, The Wedding Planner, The Wedding Crashers, Made of Honor, Shrek. I had to do some research because I don't remember the ones I'm thinking of.

So it's amazing but the ending is just TOO realistic! Way too realistic! I didn't want it to end in the only other alternative which was way too typical and like literally every Hollywood romance movie (remember the title is On Your Wedding Day) but this ending was even worse because it's although it's good, I'm heartbroken! It was the saddest happy ending ever! Or is it the happiest sad ending? I rarely cry while watching anything, of course it helps that I try and avoid sad shows as much as possible, and while I didn't exactly cry at the end, I genuinely felt and still feel completely heartbroken. I wanted to cry and still want to cry over a happy(?) ending.

The character growth was amazing and realistic, something that needs to be shown but also something I don't want to see (haha). The characters' are so amazing together and it felt like their whole lives revolved around each other but in the end I love the speech and they may be happy with where they are at but I'm not! But it's realistic and I'll just keep telling myself that. Most people feel like their whole lives revolve around each other but we don't NEED to have that other person. We shouldn't live just for the other person but romance fiction gives us that kind of thought, there's so much more to life than romance. I love that the writer wanted to share this realistic story of romance that millions of people have gone through, even multiple times. It doesn't stop me from being heartbroken though.

One of my favourite movies of all times. The story isn't very unique but I came to love the cinematography and the pace of the story.
Both the female lead and the male lead were portrayed very well and realistic.
I honestly can't remember much of the OST but there was one sad song which hit me deep in the feels.
Definitely prepare your tissues if you're going to watch this movie. It's full of romantic and some comedic moments as well but overall it is a beautiful yet such a sad story of two people who keep meeting each other at wrong times of their lives.
Go and give this movie a chance and I guarantee that you won't be disappointed.

not recommending

Had great expectations after reading a few good reviews and indeed it started off amazing with the high school first meet and relationship progression in the university. But after that it went downhill, the story went all over the place showing the typical cliche Kdrama plot of a breakup for a misunderstanding. And then the story went all over the place and I lost interest waiting for it to finish somehow.

I don’t understand why it was titled ON YOUR WEDDING DAY, because nothing special happened. It was like you attended the wedding of your old friend, crush, or classmate after receiving the invitation. Maybe I was expecting some drama or a bit more emotional ride but alas that didn’t happen. Because of the insignificant title of the movie, I would never rewatch this movie.

Kim Young Kwang as a fun-loving and unambitious guy was super good. His actions and expressions were excellent.
Park Bo Young was fine but I didn’t like her much as she didn’t make an impact on me.

Emotionally Fun Ride

I haven't experienced yet a first love. I only got some knowledge about it from here and there but then this movie made me experienced it.

It was actually a realistic movie and if you'll look closely Hwan Seung-Hee was right. Sometimes, just by thinking things, it is already a big factor. The title already hinted that the movie will be a sad one however, I'm grateful for the writers as they showcased the leads being together. It's better than not experiencing being in a relationship with your first love.

That one song they used entitled Smile Again by Rumble Fish was memorable. It has meaningful lyrics and I think it can also mend me in the future. So, kudos to whoever thought of including the song.

This was a well-made movie I highly recommend — especially to those who had their first love.

How to use your emotions constructively to change yourself and your life as a whole!

Oh boy! where should I start. The movie starts with a new aloof girl in class and foolish ,aimless, happy , tall dude who is curious about her AND ends with a girl who is warm understanding and confident and the guy matures to almost a living Sage!
I liked almost everything about this movie to the point that sometimes it gets too real to swallow to the level that if I had seen it 10 - 12 yrs ago I might have had suffered a real breakdown lol! I guess becoming adult changes things. That is why you see so contrasting ratings , anyone below 16 yr will generally give 5/6 rating and anyone above 25yr will give it 8+ rating , that is how it is!
If you haven't watch it yet , I wholeheartedly recommend it , although if you are young & emotional person and you have any exams close by then you should definitely put in on hold, till you have a whole free week to ponder!

loved in so many ways

this drama was amazing. my favorite part was definitely how it took place from when they met to to her wedding day. it really showed the emotional roller coaster of their relationship. I felt they made the right decision in the end. it didn’t feel like one of those romances where everything had to work out in the end. and even though the mc’s didn’t end up with eachother, I felt that made it more heartwarming. maybe they could be friends or something in the future? so yes. i am in fact in love with this movie.
