A Movie that teaches all about youth, first love, heart break & life...Watch it

I absolutely love watching youth movies/drams cause they teach you so much about life and to have realistic expectations from it. This did just that.

The story was amazing and I really loved the cast. The acting, characters, plot were all outstanding. I really loved the friendship between the Male lead and the support characters, its something we all dream about, about our friends being with us till the end of it no matter what.

The ending honestly killed me and though I expected it to end this way I still had tears in my eyes by the end of it. Lets just say I'm a sucker for happy endings and against knowing better hoped for it till the end credits started.

I totally enjoyed this movie and would definitely recommend it.

When a Movie Works, it Works

[Written/Watched 28 Aug, 2019 for Letterboxd. Expanded 1/21/2021]

There was a part of me that was apprehensive about "On Your Wedding Day". Romances in K-Dramas, for the most part, tend to sour on me. I end up not liking how the dynamic is set up between the romantic pair. To some degree the story becomes about why the male protagonist deserves the heroine (and sometimes, why he's the only chance she has left at love), so I expected this film to follow that pattern to a fault.

But the film surprised me. "On Your Wedding Day" is bold enough to reject the idea that Hwang Woo-yeon (Kim Young-kwang) is somehow entitled to Hwan Seung-hee (Park Bo-young) because he pursues her aggressively, and doesn't give up until she decides to date him.

They start a romantic relationship on a high, fluffy and montage-y. He commits to doing things in her name he would've otherwise never done without her as a motivator. They come out of the end of the relationship that crumbles in a moment of despair, friends after time apart. They respect each other's choices, still trust each other enough to confide in each other.

They're not fated to be together because he saved her from a building sign that almost her killed her. There's no big scene where Woo-yeon crashes the wedding and asks Hwan Seung-hee not to marry her intended because he's the better choice.

The movie ends on a bittersweet note (as far as he is concerned), but Hwan Seung-hee steps forward toward the future she worked for and the meaning behind the film's name becomes extremely poignant. I loved the heck out of this film.

Nostalgic drama

Wow. This was a sad one.

It is about first love and how the wrong timing can mess everything up.

The two main characters were perfect for each other but they never met at the right time. So their love was not meant to be, but that is often times how it works with firsts loves, which then become a fond memory that taught us a lesson.

The movie is very good, very cute, and nostalgic. Give it a try, but keep in mind there are no happy endings here for this couple. It is just the story of their first love and a fond memory to remember as they move on with their lives and the ones that were actually meant to be their partners.

Beautiful tearjerker

Oh jeez. I really liked this. I don’t even have anything to say, it was just really good. I loved the cast, and I thought the story was very well done. I knew what was coming and I still couldn’t stop myself from wanting the leads to be together so freaking bad. I loved his pure and unending love for her, and the drama was portrayed with so much joy and so much sadness at the same time. Overall, a very beautiful movie. I truly have nothing negative to say about this movie besides the fact that they could’ve made the time jumps slightly less confusing, but that’s just about it. The ending was beautiful and somewhat happy even, because Seung Hee is getting married to a man she (hopefully) loves and both of them can look back at their times together and appreciate just how much they both grew as people because they had one another. It’s a beautiful ending and a more realistic one. Don’t get me wrong, my poor little hopeless romantic heart is weeping. Definitely a tearjerker type movie.

I must admit, I watch this movie because I’ve got an info that Greg Hsu will play on the remake of this movie. But then, I didn’t regret that I watched this. Korean movie is not my cup of tea, but this movie is beyond my expectation.

I always have difficulty understanding the story line of Korean movies, but this movie has an interesting and fairly simple story line.

In my opinion, the story of this movie is not like the story from Korean movies that I usually watch. First of all, I like the story line. The plot used (forward and backward) does not make you bored or confused, but makes you even more curious.

I also like the story, and with the development of the feelings of each character. In my opinion, the conflict was not too complicated at first, only about the same feeling which did not meet at the right time. When I thought that they finally found a happy ending together, a major conflict appear and made them have to face separation. The conflict is not cheesy, rather than cheesy, the conflict is understandable and really make sense.

I am happy that in the end the male lead can 'let go' of his feelings and past, and sincerely congratulate and bless the female lead. The end of the story in my opinion is a happy ending, even though they can't be united, maybe a bittersweet ending is more appropriate.

The acting skills of the cast are very good, especially for the male and female main lead, because the majority of the story revolves between the two of them. At first I considered that the male lead acted too much, especially when they were in school, but the more they grew up, the acting is more appropriate to the circumstances.

A story about maturity and reality

I decided to watch this solely because of Park Bo Young and yes it was worth it.

Story:
People say the female lead did not love the male lead as much he loved her, they say the female lead is dumb. I think she is more mature than most female leads. This is a depiction of reality more than fiction. The story was very realistic and I loved it for this reason. It had humour as well as grief.

Acting/Cast:
All the cast and acting was best. I think the actors chosen to play the roles were perfect.

Rewatch Value:
Well, I might watch again when I feel like not everything ends well and smooth.

Overall:
This movie is all about maturity and wise decisions on how you pick a healthy relationship. For some reasons, I was satisfied with the ending. The girl has a trauma about her dad, and ML's dialogues actually hit the spot. If I find out about it, I’ll choose to leave him. It’s much better than what was to come as an aftermath. Well just an opinion. Really really a good movie!

Realidade.
