On the day of entrance exam someone helps Narumi by giving her a pencil. She wants to thank him but he's soon gone. She couldn't forget her hero so she hopes to see him again. While looking around the campus she hears the sound of the piano and enters a room where other four freshmen are present. Here she'll meet Seika, Tamotsu, Osamu and Junichiro. Together they decide to form the Asunaro Club.

I decided to watch this drama because I enjoy stories about students, I've been trying to watch some older dramas recently, and I am somewhat of a Takuya Kimura fan.

The story was a little melodramatic for me, and that got frustrating at times, but the acting was decent and nothing felt fake. I enjoyed all of the cast, and think the actors fit their characters well. Narumi was my favorite character read more because she was very relatable and had complexity.
The soundtrack was sweet and romantic and I especially liked the opening "True Love" by Fujii Fumiya.

As far as rewatch value, I might rewatch it someday since the story was character driven and I enjoyed the characters and their interactions, but it will be awhile. While some plot points were a little predictable, I thought the ending was pretty good and came with a few twists.

If you are looking for a bittersweet, somewhat philosophical drama that explores friendships, relationships, and all the shades of gray in between, you will probably enjoy this one. It is also interesting to see what Japan looked like during the 90's.

An oldie, but goodie, this is a serious drama about college friendship, love, and rejection. It was so realistically portrayed, it could have been based on a true story. However, at times, it felt too overly melodramatic. It was a bit too unbelievable that so many different characters could all be so obsessively in love with Tamotsu. Really? Was he that good looking?
I actually watched this because of Kimura, my favorite read more actor. And here he was in a beta male role.
I won't spoil anything, but I really don't buy into someone giving up their love so that person can be with someone else. Are people really that altruistic when it comes to love?
It's worth your time if you enjoy romance, but don't be stymied if you get to the end and it gets cut off. Most places Episode 11 stops before the conclusion. After much searching, I found one place on You Tube that had the full conclusion. Enjoy.

p.s. Acting is good and look back into 90th is prizeless, heroine is typical and same time nontypical, to be honest it is more drama about 5 than drama about one main couple.
