I wanted to review this show because its actually one of my favorites. I began watching for Lee Jong Suk and was pleasantly surprised when I realized f(x)'s Krystal was in it as well. I'm a big fan of both their work and was very happy that they were both in it together. The show also introduced me to an abundance of other actors/actresses who I thought did a wonderful job with read moretheir roles. I adored all of them and look forward to watching other things they star in.
The first thing you should know about this show is that it's a sitcom. It's basis is humor. Different types of humor don't apply to everyone so its really a hit-or-miss with each individual. I myself wasn't sure about it in the first couple of episodes. However, as I continued to watch, I found myself liking it more and more as the characters and plots developed. The story follows the paths of many characters who all intersect with each other dealing with a variety of things like school, work, family, and romance. I thought it was great it all aspects including the music, acting, and story line. Though I love it to pieces, I gave it a five for rewatch value. Not to say it isn't good though. I gave it a five because of the amount of episodes. I wouldn't sit down and rewatch all 123 episodes, but I would catch an episode or two if it came on. That's the great thing about sitcoms, if you're familiar with the characters and story line, you can technically pick up anywhere to rewatch!
I haven't seen "Unstoppable High Kick" or "High Kick Through the Roof!" yet so I'm not sure how it compares to them. However, if you're a fan of comedies/sitcoms, I'd definitely recommend giving this show a go. :D
Why should you watch a sitcom (never watched one before) that is 123 eps long? That’s what I asked myself as well before I even thought about starting it…
Story- Yes there are an abundance of episodes but each one is not even a half hour long and they feel so short because the writers did a great job of giving each main character a story line of their own, which fills read morethe time nicely. What I liked about the writing is not only are most eps truly funny but some eps deal with serious stuff so you also get to feel for the characters. Really though the writing was phenomenal cause it kept me watching all the eps without getting bored. In fact they could have continued after ep 123 and I would have kept watching cause I felt like they had so much more story to tell. As for the ending, while not bad like High Kick S2, I would of liked different outcomes for some of the characters.
Acting/Characters- Whats funny is that I came into this not knowing most of the actors, and even if I did know them, there’s no way I would want to watch a 123 ep sitcom just for them. However, after watching a couple eps I realized that the casting was perfect. Every actor whether main or supporting, made his or her characters stand out. I was rooting for everyone to find their success. The main featured family really did feel like they were a family as they had good chemistry. The only loveline that managed to turn into something (Ji Suk & Ha Sun) had really good chemistry and their relationship was just so cute/funny. My favorite character though happened to be Sung Yoon (Joon Sook’s best friend) because he was just so odd but really cute/sweet/innocent. And surprisingly a character that I was completely annoyed by in the beginning (Krystal) became one of my favorites by the end (really good character development for her). There were a couple of characters I just did not ever manage to like (Dr. Yoon Gye Sang, Bak Jin Hee, and Ji Won) their personalities were awful and i even had to start fast-forwarding through their scenes).
Music- Each episode had its own OST, that being said there were too many songs to remember but I remember liking a lot of the songs within various eps.
Rewatch- While the drama is entertaining enough to watch the entire series again, my favorite part of the drama is the second half so I’ll probably stick to watching those eps over and over whenever I feel like a good laugh.
Overall if your like me and had never seen a Korean sitcom, do try this one out because it’s a lot of fun and you get attached to the characters.
Ever since I saw High Kick through the roof S2 I've avoided this series like the plague because I was afraid they'd butcher the ending like it did there, so if anyone has seen this just give me one hint - Is the ending acceptable? yes or no, there's no reason to tell me what exactly happens but because I didn't pay attention to any opinions when I started that one I regretted it immensely, so if anyone has an idea please tell me
Oh my. I'm at ep 54 and I can't stand it anymore: when are Ha Sun and Young Gook whatever is his name going to break up?? We've had to deal with this guy for about 50 episodes now and I can't stand it anymore. I just want Ha Sun and Ji Suk together!! <3 Yeah sorry I got mad but this is really annoying ^^ I love this drama anyway :D
My Favoritest Part In this Entire Show was Episode 13 were Park Ha Sun Plays the part of the Korean Empress Myung Sung , She Suits the Role in Any Period Drama for instance when she played the role of Queen In Hyun in Dong Yi it just brought back all my memories of Dong Yi lol
I'm at EP62. I read some comments and I decided to share my opinion. The drama (sitcom) isn't that bad, if you want to watch something top - don't choose this one. But if you have days when you need to just take a break from work or school I can highly reccomend. My maturita exam is coming and I really enjoy this drama when I'm stressed out or really tired. The plot is easy and I personally like the cast. I don't even think that writers tried to make something outstanding. It's just another sitcom that will definitly find its audience.
I finally finished this drama! It got a bit better in the last 20 episodes and I seriously enjoyed it then. But before it... no way. I would never rewatch this again. There were few episodes that I seriously could watch without yawning or rolling my eyes.
I've said everything I can about it as truthfully as I can. This, an awesome drama? I think that's a matter of opinion. Lots of family dramas out there that you can watch where I'm sure will warm your hearts without pulling your hair.
