Where it All Began

Usually I don't like watching school drama's but since this series was popular enough for two other remakes, I needed to find out why it was so appealing. I suppose if you are a young, 15 year old girl, this would have some kind of appeal. However, I have always thought that any girl who picks a bad boy over the one that treats her like a queen deserves whatever she gets. Luckily this is done in an entertaining, albeit, cliched way.

The entire premise is completely implausible, the characters one-dimensional, and the storylines contrived. The cast is cute but it isn't enough to save the stinky plot and the acting is atrocious. Makino is a really sweet girl, but she is a doormat when girls bully her, yet tough when boys are the bullies. Perhaps she has figured out just how demented mean girls can be, and far more evil. I think the worst message this show can have is to make young ladies believe that they can change a bad boy with just a little TLC. People like Domyogi don't change.

It has entertainment value to some degree, but everything is on the surface. The characters were just not believable enough. All I know is that everyone is shallow and crazy with the exception of Makino. The bullying is way over the top here and just not realistic. There is a lack of authority, but perhaps this is the way the manga is written. It is definitely better than Meteor Garden, so thank God for small wonders.

Before watching this drama I already seen Korean one then chinese one ,in all three drama story is the same but as it was so old and Korean drama made after three years of this drama taking the season 2 story in their drama ,so I enjoyed that one more than this one because of three years gap made the lots of changes like view ,then little bright colour of the background ,new technologies used and most important I am too much connected with the second lead also that character had all my sympathy but I am not connected with the second lead character of this drama as well all other two F4 characters .As a whole in all way Korean drama is the best one ,all F4's characters story and then lead actress and her friend ,each and every character connected me very well with the story. Then I like the chinese drama too it's first lead and 2nd lead both are cute and lovely and other F4 character again do not connected me with the character but compare to this it is better.
About this drama story is good ,but it is at fast track. In the whole drama I like the lead actress acting only .As I had seen 1st season only so I can't come at the conclusion ,may 2nd season change my view .

I starting watching this series because of MatsuJun and ended up really loving it! It's the only drama I have on DVD, so that's saying something. The acting is really good, the characters and plot are really interesting, and the humor is well balanced with the serious parts. Overall, a really great drama that I could watch over and over again.

I actually hold this drama off 4 times. I was able to watch till episode 4 but never really got around to finish it. After I started watching it again last week, it was like a mission to finally complete this series. So here is my review.

Story: 10/10 because who doesn't really know this story? It's been adapted many times. I just love this plot.

Acting: 9/10 because I thought that the acting was great. The leads have great chemistry. I like the friend chemistry too. I thought the Rui & Tsukushi had good chemistry too.

Music: 8/10 because the soundtrack was good especially the song that plays through out the drama like Flavor of Love(I think it's called that?). It was good, but not as memorable.

Rewatch value: 9/10 because this was a cute story, and I would watch it again if I become upset and no other drama comes to mind to watch.

The major problem I have with this show is the male main character. He's so freaking snobby and full of himself, he's exactly the type of guy that I hate. Yet, I enjoyed watching the show. I thought it was well directed and well thought out. The guy does turn around a little bit which made him more bearable for me to watch. All in all I would recommend this.

Definitely Recommend this!!!

OMG I LOVE THIS DRAMA SO MUCHHHH!!! Matsujun portrayed Domyoji Tsukasa very well, like i can feel his anger everytime he screams, and Inoue Mao also portrayed Makino Tsukushi very well too, she's not overly acting like the other ones i've watched. she seems the Most Makino to me, and also Hanazawa Rui is the most gentle one in all adaptations, and akira and sojiro are like the best peacemakers, anyways, i really love this series so much, and i recommend that you watch this. and (also, i hope you are all physically and mentally ready to watch this, because for me, the first i've watched this, there were times i want to throw my phone everytime Domyoji will do something stupid HAHAHAHA.)

best bof adaptation!

I started this initially cause I heard it was the best adaptation and cause I had watched meteor garden (Chinese) before this and wanted to compare how bad meteor garden really is. This adaptation did NOT disappoint!! It was such a satisfying watch I loved it so much. The cast was amazing and the friendships between characters (especially f4) were great! I really enjoyed that in this version they really showed how close knit f4 is specifically the male lead and the second male lead. Unlike other adaptations where they fell apart because of the love triangle, this version showed how main guy truly saw rui as a friend in how they communicated, the friendship was so cute and I adored it. The main girl in this adaptation was also the best in my opinion she was never annoying and really portrayed the character well. The main guy’s character was the healthiest in this adaptation they skipped the harrassment stage that other adaptations included and instead had him pursue her in a healthy way without force which was a breath of fresh air after what other seasons did. He also had the best communication skills here as he actually talked out to f4 problems (particularly to rui) and was ready to apologize when wrong. The chemistry between the main leads was really good and enjoyable. Rui was amazing and probably my favourite character, in other adaptations I didn’t really care for the second male leads but in this one they really aced his character and I loved how he was showcased. All of f4 were adorable and I loved how they progressed throughout the drama. The ost was beautiful and so fun! I’ll definitely be listening to it often! Overall, this was a great drama and the best adaptation of bof that I’ve seen I highly recommend!!!

It is one of these rich jerk falls for nice poor girl stories, but it is quite refreshing.

Why? Because you grow to love the characters SO MUCH.

In the beginning I was like "Ugh, what jerks! Ugh, what a stupid girl!" But, then, very quickly,
you love them all and dive into their love story.

Very enjoyable

Zero plot holes ,succinct and charming

Hana Yori Dango is quite the unblemished retelling of this iconic story .

It’s well acted and seamless that I find next to nothing to reproach .I’m utterly impressed with the succinct nature of this drama . The dramatic consequence made utter sense whilst still maintaining nuance and charisma .Moreover, it was beautifully shot and contains a goodly number of sweet moments and one of the best love declaration scenes I have seen . The last two episodes were simply entrancing and did a lot to bolster my ratings to a perfect 10.

There’s not much more I can add other than that you should definitely give it a watch especially if you are invested in this story and have watched the other adaptations.

First this drama has violence, rape, kidnapping etc. In it, but I think it's a story everyone should know of. Especially teen girls.

Hana yori dango is based on a manga/anime series from the 90's of the same name. There are many versions, but the japanese is always the best in my opinion.

Now on with the review:

*Story*
Hana yori dango is about a girl name Tsukushi Makino. She goes to a school for rich people. There are 4 guys called f4 or flower 4 which if they don't like someone they give them a red notice and they become the target of bullying. Tsukushi also recieves a red notice from the head of the f4: Tsukasa Domyouji. She then stands up to him and he starts being interested in her. Now that aside tsukushi starts liking another f4 member, but eventually falls for tsukasa.

I think it's important to see how Domyouji changes as he gets to know here more and more. And also falls for her more and more.

*Acting/Cast*
I love the cast. Matsumoto Jun is so handsome. And the girl did a good job. 10/10
Their acting is so natural that it doesn't feel like they're acting.

*Music*
I really like the songs and bgm in this drama.

*Rewatch*
I'd definitely watch this over and over!

I give it a 10/10 ❤️❤️❤️

Quirky, Fun, Well-written...there's a reason why there are so many remakes

As my first real review (made a recommendation once) I thought it fitting I review this drama. Even if I've watched another drama 10x or more & haven't written reviews for it so I feel like cheating a little (oops...that's next, haha) I hadn't felt compelled by it to write a review. But now I do. Feel compelled. I mean, seriously. Com.pelled.

I am impressed with this drama & have felt for the FIRST time like lamenting the fact that I don't speak Japanese or know enough about the culture to appreciate the play(s) on words as much they use them throughout the show. I know the translation I watched captured the wittiness of each situation & its dialogue but couldn't do it all justice. The acting sold it as well. The story (total fantasyland but FUN) fit the quirkiness of the characters and the over-the-topness of many situations. Domyouji's continual mis-conjugation or mis-pronunciation or just refusal to care kept getting funnier & funnier the more he started getting cuter & sweeter. Especially when the F4 started joining in with him on it. Gosh, her crazy family! And their (again) witty little ripostes lobbed her way in an insidiously sneaky style (but hilarious once you catch on) whenever she walked through the front door. The unexpected ring tone! omg, I burst out laughing. HIS screwed up family, yikes! Sister was fun & not as exaggerated in other series. Mother was a great biatch but equally on par with other actresses who've played the role in many other country's iterations of this story. The music was an odd but sweet touch; very fitting to the overall feel of the show. I wonder...with such a successful trope, will the United States make some version in the future as well? Hmmm....

At first I was a little annoyed with the female character not because I think she's weak in any way (she's not) but because she's pretty naive and dreadfully gullible. She ends up in some dangerous situations, yeesh... Another reviewer thought she wasn't supposed to be pretty? I think the point is that she's supposed to be low-key, warm-up-to-her pretty. That's not what makes her interesting to our hero--even though, of course, he is attracted to her. Poor girl ends up encountering several tricky, nasty situations but perseveres through basically all the challenges thrown at her. Great strong female character & very empowering to watch. Also: when she's all dolled up, it's obvious that she is DEFINITELY pretty.

I think the chemistry between the leads fits their characters & the story like jigsaw puzzle pieces. ;) I held off on watching this because I could only find sub par video footage from bootlegged sites to watch it on, but I finally just broke down & have been suffering serious withdrawal pangs from 1080p on this one. The chemistry & emotion was something I felt between them more than saw on the actors' faces. They connected really well together & had a likable genuineness to their chemistry. in the beginning, I felt some of the scenes with dramatic lighting didn't translate as well--too cartoony fake-- but the accompanying music & camera zooms or angles helped out & it began to grow on me. And again: the actors are selling it pretty hardcore. They really stop feeling like characters after a while--which, for this kind of fantasyland drama, is pretty tough to do. Serious props are in order. It was a sweet little love story & was very pretty lightweight that you just end up enjoying the ride. A myriad of things seemed intentional & well-connected that I think there's a lot to appreciate in this show (there were some definite inside jokes here.) I just felt that the writing was pretty phenomenal & matched the vibe of the show perfectly as well. Basically: if you've been idling about this one like me, it's time to go for it!

Another nice thing? Only 9 episodes so it just whizzes right on by! I mean, the pacing is PERFECT. Making it longer (most other versions) has seemed to mess with its charm somehow.

I loved this live action. When I first started watching dramas, people told me to watch the Korean version, but I honestly loved this version better.
