What happens when you reconnect with the one that got away?

The original Present Perfect is a good film, albeit has a very serious tone. This director showed us how to top up a good movie and not suffer from sequelitis.

Toey is once again in his 'escape trip', and after four long years, Oat decided to show up and reconnect. If I may say, Oat and Toey both somehow managed to look 'hotter' than when they shot the first film. The hotel is the perfect romantic backdrop, and the new character - Jen - provided what i never expected to be a needed lightness to the story. Kenta was cute but a little bit underused.

Yes, the story isnt unique by any means but our connection with the characters kept it engaging. I like the fact that Toey isnt all that selfsih and is self aware of the damage he could cause. I am specially moved by how they handled the situation with Oat's wife. One thing that surprised me negatively is that they made Yumi a divorcee in the end, as i didnt think it was necessary.

Is it a must watch? No, not exactly, its not a waste of time but it is NOTunforgettable. Is it rewatchable? To be honest, no, once is enough. If you're curious, go see the first film before watching this. At least the subscription to gagaoolala (for that month) was made worthy because of this. Overall rating 8 out of 10 stars.

"Not all love stories have 'happily ever after', some just have 'Once upon a time;"

I am not here to critique the appropriateness of how things turn out, after all, this is a fiction. It may or may not happen in real life. If I am going to question if the outcome is fitting, I will be taking away the charm and magic of the story...

Now let me begin the review itself.

This is how a sequel should be. Sequels should note be done because it gain popularity or cash in a lot of money, but rather to continue and perhaps end a story that was left hanging. And that is exactly what this movie did. In fact, it intensified what Toey and Oat had.

It didn't add "filler" actors to make it more interesting. Kenta played a crucial role when he talked about that bad is relative, depends on the person who is saying and seeing, the realization after. And Jen as the devil's advocate for Toey. Both serve their purpose but equally necessary to make the story more cohesive and meaningful.

The setting helped too as it focus on the interaction between Toey and Oat as to compare to "Present Perfect" in which they roam Higashikawa. By containing the characters in a limited and confined space, the two characters becomes the highlight and not the surrounding.

Their acting greatly improved as well. Comparing it again to "Present Perfect", it is understandable that they are holding back that time as they are still discovering each other 's personality and feelings in the said prequel, that goes for the actors and their respective characters. It feels that in the prequel that they are taking cue not from each other but from the director. This time around and pointing the exchange of lines between Toey and Oat is more fluid and natural. They are taking the cue from each other and not from another person. It is like continuation of their love story. How each character matured and developed and how they are when they are together. But Tonawanik is definitely better in acting than Kritsana. Imagine delivering a barrage of lines with all sorts of emotions, Tonawanik clearly pull it off.

I wish they include a more heart felt music or sound as it will enhance the feeling of the audience. BUT, the lack of iconic musics can definitely be overlooked as it doesn't ruin the experience.

Rewatch value, not really for me to watch it again as I was in Toey's situation sometime in my past and it does not feel really good. I felt my gut being twist and pull apart the time when they are "arguing". I really feel what Toey was feeling as I shared the same. This story hits pretty to close to home.

A wonderful love story

I have now watched all 3 movies and they were grest. It displayed that no matter what the gender, if you are truly truthful to yourself and partner anything can happen. A must see.
I actually can relate to this drama as it happened to my best friend friend. Growing up he knew he was different,(1982 age 17) but going back in times there really wasn't to many people to confide in and if you confessed to the wrong person then it was a brutal time. He met alex and fell in love, but due to social and family stress they broke up in HS. While in college he met a girl and dated 3/4 years they did everything together he loved her, but wasn't in love with her. She figured out his secret and wanted to be his support and since she was in love with him she agreed to marry him after he opened up to her it was a hole new life for them as BF/lovers) They got married with the agreement to have children and a happy sincere marriage. If either finds someone he/she wants to spend there life with then they will all site down together and talk. They were married for 10years and 3 children later and by accident he meets Alex again and it's love at first site for both again. Since same sex marriage was legal now. He divorces his wife and married Alex. They lhave joint custody of the kids and she remarried 2years later.
The happiest of both worlds.

One of my favorite BL Movie !

This is one of the best BL Movie ever. Well, I'm not gonna watch it if its a sad ending tho. I will start with the Present perfect. I guess it has a short story to tell but the movie itself was more than an hour. The slow-pacing will get you to sleep while on the bed and tired af. But don't get me wrong, it has an amazing story to tell and the slow-pacing help to build the emotions they wanted to portray. When Oat mentioned that Nawha was pregnant make-up the story and that was a good twist. Of course, it did not end up well and that makes my heartbroken. The last part was heartwarming tho, they reunited and realized how time has passed. Their looks in the eyes were so touching. The use of the English language is cute but annoying at some point. Present Still Perfect was the best of best. The story hanging on the first film was completed. The characters added was so amazing and gives a positive vibe. the sex scenes were romantic and not awkward. The actors did a great job this time. Toey's acting is so exceptional, especially on the crying scenes. Everything seems to be perfect. Good thing Namwha is open-minded and seems like she was influenced by western culture. It was a happy ending and this is all I want There is no doubt that these films had received a lot of awards internationally. I won't talk about the technicality of the film because I'm not good at it and besides it doesn't concern me.

Too far fetched - unrealistic

Unfortunately, the plot was mixed, good to complete the incomplete plot from its prequel but the way it went is not something I agree with at all.
It's too far fetched, the wife being too supportive, direct to marriage when they were barely together.
Some characters were introduced without any reason.
Even the acting wasn't that good
I don't see why Kenta's character was introduced.

Second chances in life and for acting

First of all: this movie is beautifully filmed. The settings and the cinematography are extremly well done.

The story about meeting your love after being left behind once is bittersweet. It gets all lovey-dovey at the end, which seems to bother quite a lot viewers, but not me. It felt good for my poor little romantic heart.
What I think is the best about the movie: the acting. Especially Tonawanik Adisorn really improved compared to the first movie "Present perfect". I liked that movie too but his acting was a little stiff for me - and now in the second part he did an amazing job. The chemistry between him and Kritsana Maroukasonti is awesome and the movie contains one of the most beautiful, loving and caring sex-scenes I have seen so far.
I did not expect a deeper meaning from the movie, therefor I was not dissapointed at all. And it would be great if there was a third part now that the actors really found their groove together, I would enjoy that very much.

Like a fix-it fanfic

If you watched Present Perfect (go watch it if you haven't yet), you'll know that it didn't have a very happy ending. I don't blame the fans of the first movie for wishing for Toey and Oat to have a chance to be happy together, or even just to be together again one more time, but I don't believe this sequel was necessary at all.

After watching for a few minutes, I immediately felt like I was watching the cinematic equivalent of a fix-it fanfiction. The director/screenwriter is the same as Present Perfect, but here in PSP it seems like a big fan of the series wrotetheir own fanfiction of the story, then somehow was able to gather back all the original actors of the first movie and turn it into a sequel.
I can't say it worked too well. The quiet and dream-like atmosphere of the first movie is completely lost here, and the pacing overall is a lot more lively. The writing also got a LOT more cheesy, with dialogues where the main characters put into words their feelings way more often - and this for some reason made the whole story feel less sincere and the characters' feelings less believable.
Present Still Perfect also tries to tie itself to its prequel with elements that have no reason to exist in its plot - Kenta himself being one of them. They also tried to explain multiple untold things to make the reunion of Toey and Oat "acceptable" or at least "understandable", but overall it felt more like the plot was doing somersaults in the attempt to let the two of them be together.

I gave this movie a 6 because despite everything I was able to finish it, but I was truly unsatisfied with all of it, and now I kinda wish I didn't watch it. I only recommend watching it in case you want to see Toey and Oat together again at all costs, and I really mean AT ALL COSTS, including plot and common sense.

Movie with a message

What is the message : love is about patience, sacrifice, being brave and vulnerable at the same time, trust, resilience, heart break and passion.
Well made movie and well acted. The only criticism I have is the story was resolved too easily. As in the struglle could have been a bit more layered. In life nothing gets resolved so easily. Also Oat's acting appeared to me to be a bit stiff. The other lead was excellent. I could feel his raw pain literally. It was very real.
But the final message : one does not have to promise to love someone forever but love for that day, now ... that is my take away. Congratulations to the team.

Worth the wait

This is a beautiful story for love n acceptance
First loving someone n accepting u cant be together
Second loving someone n accepting to let go them for them to be happy

The first part was just falling for someone.. But second part shows waiting n loving
They have given a beautiful closure for all characters felt like based on true story
The characters cheat n I dont say forgiving.. But sometimes u have to trust urself, ur love n the person u love..

The actors have improved a lot from first part.. The boyish look especially of OAT has been totally changed to a family man..
N the way TOEY cry with his eyes n nose slime.. He just cried most part
Dont look for special things in this but they do have some steamy kisses n bed scence
Worth the watch... Can watch after few minths when bored of the typical BL ENGINEER N DOCTOR

I despised this movie

I know the title may seem a bit dramatic but I am not exaggerating, I genuinely hated this movie. Don't get me wrong, the actual movie part was good and I would have loved it if not for the story. I hate romanticised cheating with a burning passion, there are very few stories where I don't mind it and I assure you that this was not one of them. I understand being unable to be yourself due to the pressure of society and such but jfc, just break up with her if you want to date another person. And, while I do like him for the most part, Toey was no better than Oat. He engaged in the relationship even though he KNEW he was married and had a kid! Like they knew each other for a few weeks in the first movie and that forms enough love to last four years and make him ok with being a side piece??I don't think so. If he was with him not knowing he was married, that would be much more sympathy inducing. But the ending of this had me so angry I was on the verge of tears. I don't know how I finished this movie, at least the first one had Yumi. Sorry for the lengthy rant but oof, I haven't been this pissed off at a movie ever so I needed to get it all out. As a recap, don't watch unless you are ok with cheating in your romances.

dropped

2/10 - Dropped, disappointed.

The Movie wasn´t so well implemented. I liked the Couple and the Kiss in the water was good. The Ending was happyending.
The Movie had a lot of potential!! So much more could have been made of it so it was rather disappointing.
Thats it.

Fall in live doesn't Matter Time. Trust and love eachoter

Long time I watched Heartwarming BL love story.I think plot is realistic. It my opion Toey character is very humble heartwarm person. Toey said some dialogue touch my heart very deeply . Firstly I thought Oat is very selfish person however he understood where the he hapiness. Both LGBTQ person married with someone because they can't show reality in social. But the injustice to the other person is very high. But why does the majority of the society not give the LGBTQ community the right to live freely? Many Asian countries have that problem. They are also normal people. They have the right to live freely. In this story, the society shows the situation as confidential. Oat character is heaheartbreak person he want trust and love .toey give to him love ,trust unconditionally .thats why finally they live happily .some scne has a unrelalistic but Overall this movie is very good .
