Well-written romance, lacklustre story-telling outside of that

I'm sorry, but the story line was notably... unfortunate. It was tedious and had the tendency to be insensible at times. The actors were fantastic, but some of the characters served no purpose. Combining some of the support roles would have allowed more screentime for said support and helped the audience form connections to them. I found it difficult to feel much at all about most of the side characters (I say this with the M2 Junior group specifically in mind). I realise this is a romance drama -- and they did the romance wonderfully, by the way -- but I felt that the focus should have been less on drama and more on character development and bonds overcoming competition. Or, at the least, a larger focus on competition instead of waffling between the two. The relationships of M2 Junior seemed surface-level at best and non -existent at worst. For all their talk of teamwork, they didn't strike me as friends.If the themes had been romance, friendship, brotherhood, self-discovery, and maybe even a bit of coming of age, then this could have been fantastic. As it was, the plotline in every area but the romance felt flat. I had to drop the show after episode nine, it simply didn't feel worth it anymore. I would have dropped it after the first two episodes if it hadn't been for the relationship between the main characters.So, overall, a lot of potential that fell short. There aren't a lot of idol-fiction shows with romance that I've found on this site (three, last I checked, but maybe I'm not looking right) and there were so many other choices the story line could have entertained -- a lot of unique choices.If the setting was a school and M2 was some sort of club, then very little would have changed.
