It was okay, until it wasn't

Be prepared to watch this only for the ML (who is not only handsome, but also really kind as well), because the FL is nothing but an annoying, selfish, self-centered jerk who should have no business being married to ANYONE, let alone this dude.

There's being independent and working for your dreams, and then there's trampling over everyone and sacrificing every single person in your life to get there.

But all that aside, EP 22 in particular was the one that dropped this rating from a 6 to a 4.5. If you can't see how spending a night in the hotel room with another man - and then defending your poor choices to your husband - could be detrimental to your marriage, then you don't deserve to be in one.

I truly wish the ML ended up divorcing her, but we all know how this stuff works. They always do forgive after a one (barely sincere) apology, don't they?

Super sweet love story of female author/novelist meets ceo

For the most part a really good watch! I recommend this drama for the super cute romantic scenes.

The storyline starts when they are in middle school / high school ? Female lead was once this chubby girl, and the male lead was her only friend. Young male lead often was mean to her because he liked her. They end up losing contact for over ten years. They are reunited once again because the female lead's dad owns a lingerie shop/business that he wants the daughter to take on. She has no interested , her only interested is becoming a novelist. The one condition is that she has to find someone to marry with 72 hrs, and of course thats where the male lead comes in.

To be honest kind of cliche, i mean this genre type is going to be cliche. Rich ceo , struggling author fall into a contracted love.

Romance: To me their romantic scenes is the cutest that I have watch in a while! like they just are so cute together and their chemistry which also includes their kisses are phenomenal and filled with passion. Their story is cute because it starts off when they are young. They do have so riffs in their relationship but they end up fixing it. A big chunk if this drama is their relationship.

The other parts of the story is how the female lead becomes an author/ screen writer/ novelist.

Another small focus was about the male lead's past and how the female lead help overcome his fear.

However the last four episodes got a little draggy. It said i 24 episode but mydramalist said its 29 ep ???
It got draggy because of the third male and second female lead trying to sabotage the female and male's relationship. The story at that point seem to repeat itself , because prior to that the female and male lead already had some miscommunications., towards the end it blew up.... And the beginning of episode 24 didnt really make any sense....

Despite that , i really enjoyed their romance/relationship ! too cute to pass up.

Midpoint of Contract Marriage Drama Yardstick

If in a rating spectrum of contract marriage dramas, I would put "Perfect and Casual" as calming on one extreme and " Well Intended Love" as agonizing on another extreme, then "Love in Time" falls somewhere in middle.

5 Point Short Review

+ points
Not overly annoying
safe zone drama
Doesn't drag its misunderstandings

- points
High cringe
negligible character development

Detailed Review

Being in the middle of this Contract Marriage Drama Yardstick, this lies within the safe zone of not having overly annoying characters, unbelievable twists, etc. Yet, it still manages to annoy with its misunderstandings which gratefully don't last more than a couple of episodes.
It has sweet moments and some weirdly sweet moments that can make one cringe. Perhaps, the biggest cringe would be a CEO to live-stream his private life but he isn't a baddie here. He doesn't trick our heroine with some life-threatening disease or something. What he does is providing too much beyond the capability of our heroine who gets overwhelmed that she screams space. And this theme keeps going in circles till the drama ends.
Oh the ending, it had a different story in itself but to talk about that I really wonder you would survive this far.

Happy viewing!!!

The overall plot is good. The concept of childhood friends/sweet hearts was good. It gave a different spin on it. I thought it was cute and at time very sweet.

The pacing of the series is good and there is always something going on. I enjoyed the backstory of the leads and how they meet again later in life. The circumstances that brought them together was funny.

The good news is that we have great parents in this series who also have a good sense of humor. Of course we have our villain (Jealous female) who just won’t give up and one who appears the second lead who arrives a little late to the scene. The FL and 2ML don’t have much screen time but their communication is warm but not enough to make you hopeful.

There were many sweet and touching moments

My favorite character is the male lead. He was sweet, funny, charming, loyal and loving. He did appear indifferent initially but that indifference disappeared once you understood him (less than an episode). The female lead was okay but her character was annoying. What annoyed me about her was that no matter how much attention, care and love she received from the male lead she seemed to still focus on herself. I often felt that she didn’t care about his feelings at all, which made her my least favorite character. Even though she helped him through something it just seemed emotionless.

Now for the sad truth

This is not a romantic series. So if you’re looking for something to warm up to and feel how warm and fuzzy inside I advise you to drop this now. If you have one of those people that called in love with a male lead that is super nice and loving and caring you will find it here but you will absolutely hate the female lead. I am not exaggerating. What are you will get here is a male lead who in all essence is perfect. I have yet to find any This is not a romantic series. I am not exaggerating. What are you will get here is a male lead who in all essence is perfect. I have yet to find any flaw in him. He is everything that most women want. He’s kind, supportive, encouraging, romantic, giving, loving, patient. Unfortunately we get a female lead who is self-centered and treats him like a villain 80% of the time. That’s why I said it’s not romantic. The female lead disregarded the male lead feeling 80% of the time in the series, even while he was being supportive and considerate of her. Any concern that he brought up machine disguise it as him not supporting her. It happened a lot. It happened so much that I seriously just wanted them to get a divorce. And I really don’t like the idea of people divorcing but this is beyond annoying. her character was just not likable.

On top of this within the series she often do you things that compromised her for two as a Y wife, although it was innocent. Any concerns expressed by her husband about the situation was 100% met with her getting angry at him for being concerned and his disregard for her work. That crapped out all pass and annoying even faster..

The female leads character development was lacking for at least 80% of the series. For a romantic comedy, I felt it lacking a bit. Character was back and forth.

Would I recommend it? No
Is it romantic? Nope
Is it comical? Yes, the second couple
Is it a rewatch? Not for me

Not worth watching, Boring

Lu Bo Yuan ( Ming Ren) Su Jia Nan( Serena Cheng)
Story about unknown writer Jia Nan and BoYuan, she is badly behaved and she gives other a very reputation, allowing others to gossip about her husband Bo Yuan. Frankly speaking if I am a man, I would dump her straightaway, he is CEO and he can get any woman he likes and doesn’t have to put up with her bad character.
Serena Cheng acting is so boring, I don’t think I will watch her drama anymore. Poor Story lines, wasted time.
She doesn’t appreciated her husband Bo Yuan or shows any kindness to her husband, only throwing her temper all the time and it really annoys me. I prefer Han Ruo Xi(LiuYu Qi ) acting skills .
Don’t waste your time watching. Will not recommend.

the first time i want the ML and FL didnt end together because of the FL selfishness

this is the first time i hate the FL char in this cdrama , she s so selfish , n become big headed after she become famous n big , the way she talk and act is so disguting , i prefer her first time before she become famous ,she so humble at first time when she still struggle , its different when she famous , she even hurt her BFF feeling ,her husband that always there for her n support her ( in real life i would slap this bycth ). her husband so patient even sometime he can be so selfish too but its understandable when we know the reason , he text her he called her ,she reject it n then come back with another man? who normal man will stand that? n not to mention when she fall asleep at the other man room , she doesnt even feel a little guilty at all LOL ,and even cried to her daddy like she s the victim there, oh i so hate her for that, for her own dream she can sacrificed everyone around her that care n love her , its the first time i hope the ML and FL didnt get together in the end , i really want it the ending to be FL become top writer n super famous but alone with no friend and the ML married to other girl , thats the best ending for this cdrama for me

but in term of story i like it , its so natural ,its kind of different with other cdrama where we mostly like the FL char n feel empathy for her, in this cdrama i believe any normal person will hate this kind of FL selfish pig headed , the way she act really good make me hate her char in this cdrama , overall i think its a good drama to watch ,the first time u want they to didnt end up together , n also maybe only me that i got some scene where the amateur dubbing so bad , that when they speak the background sound is gone like water splash, car, crowd, door, steep etc ,its really kill the mood in it

This drama brings happiness into my life. I am so satisfied with this beautiful and stunning story.
Big thanks to these two amazing lead cast. There Chemistry just WOOw. I couldn't stop watching it even in the period of my study. What attracts my attention the most is the cheerful, excellent, wonderful, and delighted scenes acting between these lovely main role actors.
So in love with this drama in many different part acting, the song and especially the story it's just fantastic.
I hope to see Ming Ren again in other drama, his acting is so good and adorable to watch.

A complete waste of time

The beginning of this drama was good, stories that involve contract marriage always become my favorites and although they involve several clichés, most of the time, I have a lot of fun watching, but unfortunately that wasn´t the case with Love in Time. The story had a good start, I think the childhood plot was well used and I thought it was cute that the main lead was in love with the female lead since he was a child, however one of the big problems of this drama, for me, was the female lead.

The development of the female lead during this story was practically zero, I already saw this actress in Goodbye My Princess, and even though she has a very small role in this other drama, she managed to have better scenes and stood out much more in this small role than being the main one of this drama, that is, the big problem was not her performance, but the way her character was written.
She was extremely boring and in the final episodes she managed to get even worse, I couldn't even be happy with her success, because the way she was taking actions throughout history, made me angry with her.

About the male lead: In the beginning I liked his personality a lot, however the way he was too possessive, in some situations, irritated me a little, but until almost the end of the story it didn't irritate me much, the problem was us final episodes, where he makes very annoying and possessive decisions regarding female lead.

The characters in this story were also very forgettable, I didn't like the second male lead at all, and the secondary couple was cute, but I wasn't really interested in their story.

Another negative point, which in my view, hurt the story, was the number of episodes. I think 16 episodes were the ideal to tell the story, even because episode 16 was more or less the story was good, but after 16 episodes the script became more and more boring and the situations only served to fill time, as they often didn't add anything to the story.

In the end it was a drama that I had to skip several parts to finish and I certainly wasted my time watching, because it was much better to have watched something else.

Overbearing CEO

Overbearing CEO stories always calls out the butterflies in my stomach. But sometimes this overbearing CEO becomes a little too overbearing that if I were the female lead, I would worry of potential domestic violence. Lol. But since it’s a Chinese idol drama, I doubt it would lead to that.

The story itself was cliche, marriage contract, first love, childhood sweethearts, childhood trauma, etc. It’s light and cute but the thing that made it complicated for me was that the times that CEO becomes too overbearing. I felt like the plot was a little bit similar to Love is Sweet, but definitely, Love is Sweet is so much better. I even think male leads from both dramas look alike.

The acting I would say is also ok. One thing I kind of liked was that the actors looked mature for 25-year-olds (yes i liked it). It’s nice to see something new than innocent and naive young adults. When I did my research, the actors were actually already in their 30s which is not surprising judging by how they look.

This is another drama that I would recommend if you’re bored and have run out better dramas to watch like me. Don’t expect anything tho.

different kind of opinion

Here I have different point of view than mostly everyone here.... From what I read mostly everyone don't like the FL because of she kinda selfish & like to sacrifice everything especially after she is in the top. But me, what make me downgrade the point actually the ML. Haha...

Why...?

Because even though yes ML is cute, handsome, rich & super kind to our FL. But mostly all of us forgot how he manipulate everything to make the FL fall into his hand. Once more the thing that if we like became cute, but if we don't like become creepy happen. Because all the (+) character our ML have he became cute in our eyes, but if we get rid every (+) thing and only remember the ML is the one manipulate everything to make the FL fall into his hand then it became creepy....

Time out!!! I'll gonna write everything that happen in drama or you can say big spoiler. If you don't want to know / read just skip my review then....

*************************************************************************************************************************

Ok let's discuss more:
Lu Bo Yan (BY) manipulate Su Jia Nan (JN) to go to marriage market. He set up everything so ONLY his mom is allowed to go near JN & of course after that marriage happen. After that, BY still publish their marriage to the public while JN specifically already reject & they also have agreement about keeping their marriage private. Some people could argue, like BY also said, it's to protect JN from the public if they know they're the one already marriage & JN not the third wheel in BY & Han Ruo Xi (RX) relationship. Yes maybe that's true, but I think he can think other way if he at least respect JN opinion about not making their relationship public, still he deliberately do it because he want to tied JN to himself.

Ok I not say the FL not selfish. FL yes also selfish, childish & a little bit pampered if you can say.
* Yes she is bigger in her head when she already on the top. But I can also argue everything for the reason. Mostly us don't like when JN reject Luo Xiao Xi (XX) her own best friend to play the part in her drama, but I say when JN don't see XX fit for the role, why can't she reject her, just because that's her best friend that's why she has to choose her...? Sometime when we choose over the relationship over someone qualified for the job, the job itself become sacrifice & fall apart. No I'm not saying it will not gonna succeed, but that doesn't mean it can't fall apart too. That's why I can't blame JN to reject XX in her drama. Not to mention how about when we see in our drama our fav actor/ess just become support actor/ess while the new comer become the ML/FL, that's what will happen if JN keep XX in her drama, don't forget they already casting RX (who already famous actress) to become the antagonist in the drama, what her fans will feel to see RX only become the antagonist and XX (the new actress) become the FL, will they not making commotion to the drama itself....
* Same thing happen to Jiang Shao Kai (SK) & his advertising choice. Yes OK I quite agree when JN just angry to SK about his adv choice is kinda rude. But I also can understand her. The kind of adv that SK choose always just one kind, the one that doesn't fit the drama. But yeah like SK said, her drama is new and not many company want to invest. I think if she said it in the different tone it will not gonna have that bad effect....
* About spending the night in the room with other man & the tumbling after that... Haha... we can argue all night about this because everyone opinion is different. But my focus is how lack the trust BY has for JN. If BY trust JN everything will not gonna happen, because didn't what JN said is true...? Didn't she work all day, didn't at first there were someone else in the room with them...? See if only BY trust JN everything will not gonna happen. It's only happen because he is another jealous king that we feel OK and worship, jealous mean love, for me trust mean love & you just get jealous over everything mean you don't trust your partner. Like what happen to BY here, he simply doesn't trust JN & Kang Rui Cheng together in the room even when he's there to see what they're doing....
OK I think enough for our FL.

Apart from all what I write above I still have more to say. Haha...
+ I like the chemistry between our FL & ML
+ I like how in the end XX being together with SK. They have they own unique story & also quite messed up too. Really funny how they start their relationship & the way JN find out their relationship...
+ Really like when the reality hit RX face when Shen Yue Chuan confess his love to her. I really want to slap RX face when she said to BY about let go his obsessions over JN & I really want to give mirror to her and said take a look in the reflection, how can you said that to BY when you also have obsessions over him yourself.

Overall this just another drama for you to watch.

It was horrible.

Firstly, the rom-com storyline is extremely cliche and predictable. There was no creativity in the storyline with the idea of the marriage contract as well as the rich and overbearing husband. There was barely any effort in creating a new plot.

Secondly, the production made the largest mistake in this drama. There were missing background sound effects. It felt as tho the production had no budget that they have interns in charge of the sound effect. It was a pain watching this drama with missing background sound and awkward insertion of OST into a scene. IT WAS AWKWARD. I was contemplating whether I should turn off the sound completely because the lip-synching was also terrible.

Thirdly, the cast. It is extremely important to pick the right cast for the right role, especially the cast is a rookie. The male lead did not fit the image of an overbearing rich boss. He could not portray that vibe with his walking style, actions and expression.
