The management company of the idol group A.N.JELL insisted on adding a new singer to the group as the lead vocal, Tai Jing's voice was hurting. However, the new member, Mei Nan, had to go to the States to repair a botched eye job just before signing the contract. His agent came up with the idea of having his twin sister, Gao Mei read moreNu a nun-in-training who has to pose as her twin brother and take his place in the group and to stand in for him. The two of them grew up in an orphanage and Mei Nu, who was all set to become a nun, agreed to this charade as she didn't want to spoil her brother's chance of fame which would make it easier to look for their mother.

This is the best remake I have ever seen. And I have to admit I liked it even more than the original, and I loved the Korean "You are beautiful".

I found FB to be more romantic, which is one of the reasons I love Asian Dramas.
Jiro Wang nailed the part!! But perhaps I am biased becuae I liked him in "It started with a kiss." Here I saw a more read more mature, manly and serious version of him and I totally loved him!
We can clearly see how he slowly develops feeling for Gao Mei Nam.
He is not so childish as Tae Kyung and more jealous! Always a plus for me!

Lee HongKi will always be my Jeremy , but Evan Yo is adorable!

Hwang In Deok was good, but he did not stand out like the other characters or like Jung Yong-hwa did in YAB.

The main actress was so cute! Even though it was obvious she is still new at acting. But overall I found her adorable!

What I also liked was the way they were dressed, because the clothes they wore in YAB, in my humble opinion were over the top.

The music was ok, but the songs did not move me the way the YAB OST did.

All in all, a great drama! I highly recommend it!

Just finished this ~~
Gonna give this 9/10 which is better grade than what I gave to the original (8/10).

Even though it dragged at some points in the middle, I liked how they made it different from original version. At some points especially in the beginning it seemed like an exact copy of the original.

The ending, the "double scene" (you know what I mean haha), them kiss scenes and the read more acting itself was better than in the original. Except that some characters *cough* Xin Yu and the reporter *cough* were way worse and not as natural or funny like in the original version.

What comes to the acting in general:

- I didn't like how Jiro Wang was missing the "Hwang Tae Kyung" style aka the facial expressions. They were in Japanese version so I was hoping them to be in this one too.

- Su Li Wen was annoying when she was playing Mei Nu playing to be her brother. But when she was playing Mei Nan himself she was kickass. I hope they would've showed more interactions between the twins haha

- As I mentioned above... Hwang In Deok playing Shin Woo / Xin Yu was awkward. A big minus from that. He was worse than Kim Hyun Joong in BOF (Don't kill me. I love KHJ btw)

- Evan Yo as Jeremy was super adorable yet he couldn't reach the level of the original Jeremy played by Lee Hong Ki.

There were no annoying characters in this one. I remember how I hated the mom in Korean version and the biach in Japanese version.

I liked the music in this one of course. I also like how they changed the "Otteokhajeo" to a completely new song. Points from that ~~

But the original one is the best one to me because it's the original and special to me.

Would I rewatch this? No.

Funny, because I can rewatch the original many many times and so far I've rewatched it like 3-4 times.

I guess there is some "magic" in the original one always hahaha XDD

By the way, the Japanese version got 6/10 from me. I can't even remember anything from it...
While I was watching this Taiwanese version I could see the Korean version in my head all the time. Which is why I was always surprised when they added some new things to this version ^^

I think that's all I have to say. Thanks for reading this ~

Both are gender-bender dramas set in the music industry.
- Sompong Non Somchai is a lakorn, meaning a drama from thailand. It's about two girls forced to work for a music company as spys for the police. They have to dress up as men to pass off as male dancers.
- Fabulous Boys is a taïwanese drama about a girl posing as her brother, who is A.N.JELL group new singer. Remke of the kdrama You're Beautiful.

It's the same plot as in "You're Beautiful (K-drama)", but in Taiwanese. Both have the same set up where a twin girl had to dress up as a boy to substitute for her brother.

I dropped this on the first episode. I usually don't believe remakes of other countries bc they're just so SIMILAR! I mean.....if they make a remake can they not COPY??? It's like exactly the same but just a little different. Even the soundtrack was the same. So what's the point? It's basically just watching the same drama again but I'm a different language. BORING! There's only one remake that I've really liked...was the Thai version of 'full house'. That was quite different to the original.

But if I am wrong, please tell me so can give it another chance.

Please do give it another chance. I totally understand how you must have been a complete sceptic and dropped the drama in the first episode ~ Lord knows I've done that a dozen times, but trust me... this drama is good! It's very very nice.

I admit, sometimes seeing the same old scenes in another remake makes it so boring~ but think about it this way, if they changed the scenes, they would totally change the essence of the drama.

That being said, there are differences in this drama compared to the original Korean version. For instance, in this drama we get to see both twins. Yes, you get to see the twin brother talking and walking and being a hunk :P I especially liked the ending of this drama as opposed to the Korean version where she had to go tour the world or something :/

My say: Please, if you find it that you have time and the heart, do give this another chance.

Miss soju....I'll take in your thoughts and try it out if I have time but as you might be in the same situation like me, there are so many dramas coming out that I can't seem to watch all of them. Should I spend time watching a new drama or a drama similar to one I've already watched? Idk. Can you ensure me it'll be worth it?

      Hey miss Reiko :)
Ah! I like to sit on my ongoing and upcoming dramas for a while until the heat has settled down a bit. I find it that while running after a lot of dramas I become too confused and don't really enjoy the whole experience. But that's just me.

Can I ensure you that it'll be worth it? We are two different people, miss Reiko, so I can not. But for me, if I'm able to smile in the end and think to myself "Ah, this was nice"... it's worth it. :)

This drama has 20 episodes, not 13. And the episodes are about 45 Minutes, not 1 and a half hours

Jiro is good and hot but Jang Geun Suk is much much more cooler, specially in the last scene I preferred the Korean one, that scene in Korean version is truly shriek worthy. :)

I Have to say, I have watched a few remakes and for me, my opinion only, that this was one of the worse ones I have seen. I have started with the korean Version, You're Beautiful and I absolutely loved it, it's an all-time favorite for me. But he Taiwanese Version just ruined it. I'd have to write a list to name all the problems with it! I feel like this remake is one you may either hate or love. I hated it!

I could have gone without watching this drama. So cliche and unclimatic, I mean I already knew the story but the whole gender bender is kinda "been there done that" for me. But Jiro Wang was hotness and made it worth watching.

Some sites have 20 episodes for this series, and others only have 13. Can someone please explain the difference? I've tried Googling for info about this, but can't find anything. TIA! :)

I was wondering that myself too. It was 13 when I started watching and suddently it's 20. (DramaWiki also says 13 eps)

Yeah, I noticed that as well. When I posted my comment, it was showing here as 13 episodes, and now it shows 20. But I don't think it's just a "mistake" in the number total... there seems to be 2 different versions of the series. I just haven't been able to find any info about what that difference is. I think I'll try asking in the forums. Hopefully I'll have a better chance of getting an answer there. If I do, I'll let you know. :) And also make a note of it in the synopsis.

I had the same issue with AbsoluteBf, but in reverse! The pg for AB on here says "13" but yet both DramaFever & Hulu have it streaming in 20x 45mn eps.. lol. Tried to edit it but was told "13 is the original airing format" & so I just left a cmt explaining instead for anyone who might come across it on those apps. ^-^

heard the korean version is good but if the taiwan version is same and just as good, i would go for the taiwan version, just can't stand the very obvious make up of the boys on the korean version

While I somewhat agree with you there, I do think that the Korean version in this case is worth a watch. This one covers a lot of what the Korean one does, but there are still many differences, like there were times when I said that I wished they had added this in the Korean Version, but there were also times when I said that the Taiwanese version lacked/didn't present well enough what the Korean version did. I think, if you really want to appreciate this drama then watching both versions would certainly be the way to do so. :)
