Another underrated gem <3

Overall the show was really nice. I liked the characters, the story, and how they were able to deliver everything.

It was a cute romcom with good leads and story. But personally, I do think that the main plot was dragged for too long. I think they could've done a bit more in terms of the love story since this is mainly a rom com. I am a sucker for love triangles so I wish there were more push and pull between the 2 ML and FL hehe. I know that the character of the 2nd ML was an a-hole but they could've showed a bit more of his "lover" or warm side so that the FL can be swayed a little in the beginning (together with the viewrs of course kkkk). The way his character was portrayed in the drama felt like his chances to get back with the FL was doomed from the start. The writers played him dirty hehehe they didn't even give him a chance to redeem himself even for a shortwhile just enough time to make the love triangle a bit more exciting.

One thing I didn't completely get as well was the FL in general. Can't seem to figure out if she's a strong person, a timid one, a smart one, a pushover, or what. Like when they showed their flashback when she was in high school, it didn't seem like she was the quiet shy type. She was aggressive. But then in the present, she's different. She also lets people push her over. That was something that I found inconsistent throughout the drama.

I honestly think that this drama was worth the watch, especially if you are just looking for a light drama with the right amount of mystery.

now unto the next one!

its so good i'm gonna cry again ???

okay so I have watched all the episodes and all I got to say is overall it was very cute and adorable but the ending made me cry a lot not only because he got stabbed it was also because since the skipped a year and I didn't see them together I got scared thinking that they broke up and I was about to throw hands until I finished the episode. the drama was really good my favorite episode is ep 14 when they started dating because it was so cute and funny it makes me smile thinking about :D and the reason I gave the music an 8.5 is that it made me cry a lot, I'm a very emotional person/ a crybaby because I have been crying the whole day because of the ending ?? but it trust me it was worth it watching this drama because it brought me happiness :))

Light hearted blend of genres and likable central performances... but I just didn't enjoy it

I really wanted to like this show but it just wasn't for me. The blend of romance, comedy, melodrama and mystery didn't work very well and I felt pretty uninvested in the outcome of the story. If you like silly comedy, a blend of genres, and introverted, passive female leads this show might have more appeal for you. Give the first episode a try, it's a pretty good indication of the overall tone and quality of the show so if you enjoy it you may well like the rest of this drama.

Things I Liked
The performances of both the leads are great and they have good chemistry together. The characters of the FL and ML are both a bit different from the norm. The ML starts out brash, cocky, ignorant and money obsessed and I expected the show would give him a story arc where he would change for love, but instead they basically said he was just fine as he was. I quite liked that it subverted my expectations on this. The ML was shown to be a decent man who was pretty likable despite his flaws. The ML is consistently interested in and open about his affection for the FL and treats her well. I quite liked the bratty, spoiled politicians daughter SFL. The pacing is pretty good- the story generally progresses at a reasonable pace. The show tries to blend lots of genres, with mystery, melodrama, romance, comedy etc. whilst keeping an overall fairly light tone.

Things I didn't like
I didn't really like the character of the female lead Kim Da Li. This is partly a writing issue and partly personal preference. I just found the character exasperating. She responds to seemingly everything by walking around silently and crying a bit. I was pretty sympathetic to her not knowing what to do in the earlier episodes, but by the time she showed that she was incapable of washing dishes and taking a bus successfully I longed to slap her in the face. She is an introvert who knows nothing about anything but art and is almost entirely passive as her world crashes down around her. This will not bother all viewers, but I found the character as written hard to enjoy, despite the likeable performance by Park Gyu Young (who I think is an incredibly talented actress).

The romance also didn't really work that well for me, partly because in the scenes where their relationship evolved I felt the FLs words or actions were often fairly odd. The moment where they first kissed seemed like such a strange time to choose to kiss someone. Once they got together, the ML immediately became pathetically sappy in a way I found nauseating. Overall, the writing meant I never felt very invested in this relationship and my interest in it was pretty much just because the two central performances were quite charming and the leads had good chemistry.

The rest of the cast are mostly either comic relief or part of the villainous, melodramatic sub plots. None of the comedy was my cup of tea, but I suspect the show would be much more enjoyable for those who do enjoy this type of humour. The villains are never very threatening so the conspiracy sub plot doesn't really lead to much tension and it gets resolved with a whimper rather than a bang which isn't exactly satisfying. Many of the minor characters performances are over the top and clearly intended to be funny but I found several of them grating. The blend of genres gives the show a fairly light tone, but tended to neutralise the tension in more serious moments and left me struggling to care about what was happening.

I remember disliking the first episode but quite liking the performances of the two leads so I persevered. This was basically how I felt at the end of the show too. I didn't really like the writing and felt there were many issues with the production, but the central performances were the best part about this show. If you like the first episode, I think you'll enjoy this drama much more than I did.

Dali and the Cocky Prince is a fantastic drama with a great fusion of humor, melodrama, mystery, and a very nice and flawless romantic storyline. The leading couple has great chemistry and their characters developed a love that is steadfast and charming. Everything in this drama has been done methodically with a lot of attention to detail. The dialogue is intelligent, witty, quirky, funny, and, many times, mesmerizing. Cinematography, costumes, and setting together comprise a work of art that appeals to all the senses. Great used of artistically canvassing the end of every episode as if each one of them is a piece of art showcased in a gallery. To say more about this drama in detail would be to spoil it. Watch and enjoy a really great drama!

There are 2 things I love from this drama:
- Dali and Moohak's romance
- Dali and Wontak's sibling relationship

I read somewhere that Dali and Moohak's relationship is unique, because Dali is someone who knows nothing but art, and Moohak is someone who knows nothing but making money. Their relationship grows alongside them, and it was really refreshing to see.

Dali and Wontak's relationship is quite literally platonic soulmates. They walked together side by side and takes good care of each other.

The story is laced with cliché prompts but I don't really mind, because the characters' personality stood out enough to make it still looks enjoyable.

Dali and the cocky prince

i have watched so many movies and dramas in the past 1 year and this is working itself into my top 3. its not finished yet but every aspect of it has been engaging. i dont think its an original story but execution gives another feel. so i am trusting that the remaining 8 episodes will do greater. the actors amazing. the lead actress has captured my heart and its rare since its my first time watching her. the 2 ladies that succeeded were the lead actresses in mr queen and goblin.
hopefully will update my review with better feedbacks

With just one ticket, you can find comfort~

Plot: An art expert and a pig expert accidentally met each other on Netherlands and love blossomed. The plot is simple and easy to follow with just a hint of mystery but still predictable, however, the lines/dialogues(especially the male lead's) were good in the drama that unnecessary misunderstanding didn't happen.

Acting: Let me start with Park Gyu Young(Da Li), which, I think, is the weakest link among all of them. Her emotional scenes weren't on point that made me unmoved with her struggles/sentiments, however, she still maintained her elegance and classy temperament all through out the drama. All the sort-of villains(the woman who lives with Mu-Hak's father, Mu-hak's brother-in-law, 2 colleagues of Da Li and her drug junkie cousin), did great in annoying me, in which they made their characters very convincing. Kwon Yool(Director Tae Jin) however, stood out the most for me, with his impressive acting. I will never forget his face when he shouted 'Ko Jeo' to Mu-hak's mother-in-law and his tantrum scenes. I kinda feel bad that his suits are too limited(i think he only has two, black and blue suits) that didn't quite represented 'Segi' Group well and made him look like a sleazy businessman without power. While Kim Min Jae's(Mu-hak) suits are all masterpieces and my most favorite is his red one on the second episode. Da Li's outfits are mostly so-so, although with good color combination, the style isn't just in line with mine. Lastly, Kim Min Jae, I must say, is the strongest link of the drama, with his various expressions and even though he was 60% shouting in the drama, I still find him very charming and that dimples of him, I just wanna grab it from my computer. Haha!

Music: They have cute OST's and sound effects(even the classical songs) that are appropriate with the scenes.

Re-watch Value: All of Mu hak's scenes and his comfortable and cute chemistry with Da Li.

Overall: 8.5-9 just because of the ending. I love the ending so much, I watched it twice. The finale was an unexpected one which gave me a great overall feeling for the drama despite having it's flat plot and lackluster performance of the female lead. I also love how they showed the mature relationship of Da Li and her cocky darling despite him being clueless in a lot of things yet a serious business-minded guy. They captured the cliché 'opposites attract' trope very well. It's a decent binge-able Rom Com if you're looking for something cute and charming on a rainy day.

Side note: The bright and polished filter used for female lead was too obvious which can be distracting and unhelpful to her facial acting.

IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR COMEDY-ROMANCE, THIS ONE IS FOR YOU >>>

I barely write a review here in mydramalist, but I wanna put one for this drama, because it's just so good.

The main plot is for sure depressing (and I did cry a lot everytime Dali cries because of her father), but the comedy and romance were really done good. It was not over the top nor lacking, it was just the right amount and more.

I get it why some people are so heated because the ending of the villains were not thorough enough. It's not the typical ending of the villains were they end up in jail or they end up crazy, which for sure is kind of annoying, because I want to see them villains rot in hell too.

Nonetheless, I appreciate everything. I loved watching every second of it. The character development of the protagonists were soooo goood. Muhak and Dali would go down as two of my fave characters. Muhak knows what's right and he stands up for it, and while Dali might look weak and 'too nice', no one in the drama succeeded in gaslighting her. She is really bright and someone to root for as an FL.

Comedy + romance + heartwarming family drama + food!!! what could I ask for more? A solid 10 for me despite its shortcomings. <3

The cast was amazing, AMAZING! especially the leads.
Kim min jae has my heart he nailed his role, park gu young was awesome too. The story was also different with a lots of twists! Loved the drama!
The romcom scenes were actually awesome the storyline was good too. A very lighthearted drama it is. Give it a watch.

Loved every bit of it. The negative characters were also awesome in their role. I’m a slow watcher but I watched it in a single night. It’s so engaging, the chemistry between the both leads is unmatchable! It’s cute and hot at the same time!

PLEASE GO GIVE IT A WATCH! THIS DRAMA DESERVES MUCH MORE.

Amazing Soundtrack

I loved the show but it’s been months since I watched and I’ve still been listening to the OST! I feel that the songs they chose did a great job of protesting the characters feelings. Just wanted to say that and encourage you all to support the artists featured on the OST!

My favorite song from the drama is Gift by Chai both the Korean and English versions are excellent. She has such a beautiful voice. It’s been added to my wedding day soundtrack for when that happens, even though I’m super single right now.

One Day It Will Be by Ian Hug and Seoho is also really great too. It’s such a sweet song and both artists have beautiful voices. It’s make me feel like it’s a sunny day!

Adorable Couple... NOT a sweet and fluffy romantic comedy

Completed - 12/11/2021 - 8.25 rounding up to 8.5

Before watching this drama, I was under the impression that this is a funny romantic comedy. Well, we do have a cute and sweet couple, but the second half of this drama is not light and fluffy. Is it good or bad that the story becomes more serious? That is up to the watcher to decide. Personally, I was looking for something different. I wanted to see Dali's growth and struggles in continuing with the management of the art museum in a more rom-com storytelling.

As a fan of Kim Min Jae (ML), I am glad to see him in a different role. I've liked him since Dr. Romantic 1+2, Flower Crew and especially in Do You Like Brahms? He has great comedic timing in his role as Jin Moo Hak, and I love his embarrassed smiles. I was initially afraid that JMH might be too over-the-top for my taste. But I love his character and his flashy suits. He might seem crude and uneducated, but he's such a smart, funny and caring guy inside.

I've seen Park Gyu Young (FL) in other dramas but she's only in a minor/supporting role. I have yet to watch The Devil Judge and probably won't see her in Sweet Home. I really enjoy her acting as our female lead, Dali. Dali appears shy, reserved and refined but there's so much inner strength inside of her. You can see that little tigress inside of her whenever she is at the police station. The teenage Dali is still there, waiting to come out at the right time. Dali has grown so much from the episode until the last episode.

Our main couple complements each other so well. I really like what Dali said that you should be with someone you love and not someone who is like you. Both of them are smart and actually think about what others said and come up with their own conclusions. They did not get bullied into a corner, whether it's because of business or love. The chemistry is great and they are so cute together(love the kisses as well) We don't see too many of lovey-dovey moments, therefore, I can accept the cheese and cringe when we get them. I also love that Dali, though refined and reserved, is not afraid to take the initiative to show any physical affection, and always catches Moo Hak off guard. You go girl!

As I mentioned, I do not quite enjoy the serious tone of the second half of the drama. I felt that the side story of Dali's cousin + Senator Ahn + Jin Family lasted too long. There isn't enough tension or suspense to keep me entertained, and it wasn't difficult to guess who the big bad wolf is.

However, I wouldn't say I don't like this drama. There's enough to keep me entertained and laughed out loud. Our leads convinced me in giving this a generous 8.5 but I was tempted to give it an 8.0. Dali and Moo Hak have become one of my favorite modern drama couples.

Other Observations:
1. They played the OST quite often, esp. in the first few episodes. The songs are played all the time to get you into the mood.
2. Love ML's amazing suits, thus, they do tone it down a little towards the end of the drama.
3. Most of Dali's dresses are quite unique and nice. But a few of them make her look like an old lady.
4. Why do they always make important phone calls out in the open for anyone to eavesdrop?
5. Definitely no second-lead syndrome here.

I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed this drama. It doesn't break new ground in the romantic comedy genre but the two protagonists are so charming and nice that I found myself rooting for them. Plus Dali's wardrobe is amazing. The male lead actor manages to make his character attractive despite being uncultured and sometimes cringingly obtuse. Some of the funniest scenes involved his interactions with Dali's street smart and wiser police friend. A light and fluffy but ultimately satisfying drama.
