A must watch for those who love romantic comedies

Why I didn't this drama a 10? I usually reserve a 10 for those dramas that have a unique story and are memorable. This drama will be "memorable" but the story was not unique enough to be a 10. Thus.. a 9.5 rating.

Overall, I couldn't find many faults with this drama, as long as a viewer, one is willing to overlook minor flaws such as recanting of previous stories and side plots that feel like a time filler.

This drama had a flavor of "Encounter". I loved the "artistic" aspect of this drama and especially how the ending of a scene was framed as brush strokes of a painting.,, Sort of a constant reminder that the drama was about a museum.

In many dramas the comedic part is usually at the beginning and lasts for few episodes. Then the usual conflict take over as our heroes work out the issues. In this case, the comedy was sprinkled throughout the drama till the end and was unique and clever from my perspective.

I loved the Dali character. She maintained her composure no matter what situation was thrown at her. I also loved the sexual tension present between FL & ML. Personally, I thought this drama was mature enough to address the nature of sexual relations in very nice comedic manner. In general, other dramas tend to handle the topic of sex like a teenager.

MooHak did a fantastic job of showing vulnerable and yet sensitive side to his nature. He was clear.. i.e money is money and love is love. He wasn't afraid to admit that he was stupid and poked fun at himself. For example.. my favorite line: Capitol of India ... Indonesia.

I can write pages of analysis on this drama... But the biggest take way.. comedy balanced the heaviness of Dali. Uneducated people showed more class than so called rich people with class.

Spoiler Alert and skip this paragraph if you are not ready!! I was annoyed and yet pleased that the writer/director did not follow the usual pattern of a breakup followed by a makeup. Although the writer/director led us to believe this trope was happening but it was handled in some more accepting ways and consistent with the story line. So.. I forgive the writer/director for this flagrant violation of playing with our emotions.

Please watch this drama and go to bed with a smile having spent time being entertained till the end!!

Until next time... be well.

one of the best kdrama

The comedic moments in "Dali and the Cocky Prince" are executed flawlessly, providing plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. The omelet eating scenes are a particular standout, inducing laughter until your stomach hurts. The show's ability to balance humor with heartfelt emotions is truly commendable, making it a great choice for those seeking a light-hearted and enjoyable romantic comedy.

What sets this drama apart is the way it captures the essence of intense love. The romance between Dali and the cocky prince is palpable, with their emotional connection developing gradually and organically. As their relationship deepens, viewers can't help but root for their happiness, eagerly anticipating each heart-fluttering moment.

The production values of "Dali and the Cocky Prince" are also noteworthy. The vibrant cinematography, aesthetically pleasing set designs, and beautiful wardrobe choices contribute to an immersive viewing experience. The attention to detail in creating a visually appealing world further enhances the overall enjoyment of the drama.

While "Dali and the Cocky Prince" does have its share of clichés and predictable plot elements, the compelling performances and genuine chemistry between the lead actors make up for any shortcomings. The supporting cast members also deserve praise for their contributions in adding depth and humor to the narrative.

In conclusion, "Dali and the Cocky Prince" is a delightful Korean drama that seamlessly blends romance and comedy. The series will leave you laughing, crying, and rooting for the charming characters. If you're in the mood for a heartwarming and entertaining show that will make you laugh until your stomach hurts, this drama is definitely worth a watch.

Heartwarming and fun

I liked how Darli’s character was written. She’s level headed and strong. With all the hardships she had she was able to overcome it. Moo Hak’s playfullness and not being to bright balances Darli’s calm demeanor. A lot of funny and heartbreaking moments which makes the series great. The Min Jae and Gyu Young’s chemistry was really good. Supporting characters also did well and portrayed their roles really well. Won Tak and Moo Hak’s secretary are my favority side characters. Their loyalty and care for the main leads are epic. I highly recommend as this series is definitely worth the watch.

Because blood is not always thicker

Joo Won-Tak asks: “The capital of India?”

Jin Moo-Hak replied: “Indonesia!”

Wkwkwk.... I'm laughing. The Korean drama Dali and Cocky Prince is really entertaining. The romance scene between Kim Da Li and Jin Moo Hak was so hilarious that it made me laugh.

I came to understand the selection of Park Gyu-Young as Kim Da-Li. As an actress who has never been lined up as the main character, Park Gyu-Young managed to play Kim Da Li smoothly.

Meanwhile, actor Kim Min-Jae who often gets the main role, it's really strange if he doesn't succeed in playing Jin Moo-Hak, a ridiculous rich director because of his lack of academic education.

Music and cinematography also really spoil the audience. Coupled with the writernim's expertise in composing coherent and curious scenes in each episode, the Korean drama Dali and Cocky Prince is really recommended for those who need entertainment.

If there's a critique, it's a cliché scene like suddenly the lights go out and the two main characters find each other overlapping, naked, when the lights suddenly come on again.

Is it okay? Just a little bit. ️

True to it's title, it's really about DaLi and the cocky prince

After seeing the first episode, I'm thinking maybe this is not for me. But to my surprise, I was hooked by the next episode.

True to it's title, it's really about DaLi and the cocky prince. It was fun to see their contrast turns to complement each other. He's crass but endearingly funny. She's class but surprisingly not snobby.

Watching this is so much fun and refreshing enjoyable. Even the OSTs good..

If there's one thing I don't get, it's her Ex.. left her almost at the altar. Then became so obsessed to get her back. He did some terrible things and he still expected that he can win her back.. Anyway, its a really good show..

Very unique, quirky and a definite MUST WATCH!

From the first episode, I completely adored Jin Moo Hak (ML). He’s not your typical dramaland CEO - he comes off unrefined and undignified; he speaks his mind too abruptly, he likes to shout lol and his dressing was a tad too loud for me haha.. BUT everything that comes out from his mouth rings so true! He has such wisdom and a heart of gold- although his general knowledge of the world is quite atrociously bad!! Loolllll.. Hats off to Kim Min Jae who acted the role so well!!!

The storyline is a good one- a very well blended mix of humour, conspiracy, romance/ love and family relationships. The funny parts are really funny... I haven’t laughed this much since ... ?? What’s wrong with Secretary Kim?? The romance and relationship development between Kim Dali and JMH was SO GOOD! They are completely opposites- in terms of personality, background, family and simply they way they project themselves. Even all her close friends and colleagues couldn’t believe that she would date him! [the scene where they tell Won Tak about their relationship- it’s the funniest ever!!]

The only thing I didn’t quite like was how the writers always tried to “trick” the audience into thinking something else. And how the scenes would flashback so very often to reveal the truths. After awhile it got predictable and a little cliche. Other cliches would be the overbearing loud stepmother and the unnecessary kdrama crying sensations ... lol.

All in all it was very quirky cute and unique! A definite definite must watch!! :):):)

SO COMFORTING!

Such a comforting drama!!! At the end I was so terrified that they broke up, but it was just a little joke! I really liked this show so much because it was so comforting and you could just relax while watching it. It was so funny and happy and the tidy thriller aspects were also really good, to make a interesting story line! We I think about this drama again, I just noticed: Everything was perfect, the actors, the chemistry, the plot, the music, the characters, just everything!!!!! THIS IS SO A COMFORTING DRAMA AND I GUESS ONE OF MY FAVS!!!!!!!!!

Just what I needed.

The right amount of romance, comedy and drama.

Cute, simple and entertaining! Made me smile, laugh and feel love.

I will definitely miss the couple. I love how opposite their personalities are but they sure complete each other.

Hays. They made me jealous and made me feel like I need someone.

What I think about the leads:
Jin Moo Hak, might seem ignorant but he really is one smart guy. Street smart to be exact. He knows business by heart and he knows how to love and care for someone.

Darli, I love how patient she is. If I am put in her situation I don’t know how to take it all as calmly as she did.

Their love story:
Both found each other as interesting the first time they met. There’s already spark and chemistry. And I love how it is both complicated and uncomplicated. Can’t explain. Haha.

The ending:
The twist and how they made it look like. I loved it! It is one of the most drama ending I love.

There are always plot holes and questions I need to ask the writer but overall I enjoyed each episodes. There are frustrating characters but I don’t care. Haha.

I will miss Darli and her Prince.

An Okayish Romcom

'An okayish romcom' is what I would call Dali and the cocky Prince. Maybe it's because I had way too many expectations or something, which is why I couldn't enjoy this drama as much as I expected. I was originally planning to rate it an 8 but I am giving it one more point because of Kim Min Jae's acting.

Story was good. It had the perfect balance of romance, comedy and thrill. All the actors and actresses portrayed their characters well. Kim Min Jae was the best here! His goofy dialogues and comedy dynamics with his secretary and Won Tak were something I always looked forward to. I also liked FL's relationship with her brother-like figure Won Tak. But unfortunately, contrary to my expectations, FL was weak. Too damn weak which is why I couldn't like her character much. She should've at least slapped 2nd lead with all her force!! (Hong Cha Young's slap to Babel Boss in Vincenzo spoiled me nvm)

Anyway, so back to review. There's nothing much to say about the story cause it's simple, saying too much might spoil it. Second lead was venomous. There were some dislikable side characters still the drama was good.

However I have one serious issue with this drama and it's the KISSING TIMING! This drama probably has the worst kissing timing ever!!
So there was a scene where ML was crying about his mother who has passed away and our FL kisses him to comfort him at that moment?? Before anyone starts yelling at me, here's the fact, "ML and FL were JUST FRIENDS at that scene, they didn't start dating yet." Now Like seriously! Who kisses their friend when they're talking about something so saddening? If you swap the gender role for that scene you'll realize how creepy and sickening it was. Then there was another scene where ML tells FL to sleep with another man to earn money! Right after saying something so sh*tty, he kisses her and she gives in??!!! I honestly will never understand what the screenwriter was thinking while writing these scenes. They were plain toxic. Not romantic at all.

Apart from this one issue, everything else was fine to me.

Music of this drama was good. "That's ordinary love" was an uplifting ost. Listened to it a lot of times.

As for rewatching, I don't think I'll ever rewatch it. I may watch some favourite clips or fmvs but rewatch is a NO.

I LOVED all the characters, character development and family dynamics.

Before mentioning anything about the leads, I have to talk about how much I loved the family dynamics in this drama and how it really delved into it. Not just for the FL and ML, but also for a lot of the supporting characters. It focused on a lot of different types of family dynamics: biological families, adopted families and step families. It has abusive families, abuse in different forms as well as very loving and non abusive families. I've also never seen this many orphans in a Kdrama, especially where the main plot isn't neccesarily about the characters being orphans.

I LOVED this drama. I LOVED the FL, how smart and strong she was to deal with everything (loss after loss) on her own. And I LOVED the ML, he was refreshing, despite being rich and having everything, he wasn't always rich and so knew the value of every penny, litterally every penny. He was so sweet and in his own way, he was the kind of male lead the treated everyone cold but had a soft spot for the FL and only the FL.

I loved that the ML and FL met when the FL still had everything, so that the ML could see her at her best and then at her worst when everything starts to go downhill.

I also LOVED the SML and slowing growing to despise him more and more each episode. I loved that we didn't have the typical sweet SL who did everything for the FL only to be "friendzoned". Here, he be deserved it and so much more. Despite how sweet he seems at present, he is a snake. His past self may seem bad for dumping the FL the way he did with an outright cruel justification, his present self, even when he's "good" showed just how little he thought of the FL, believing himself to be her knight in shinning armor. One she did not need from anyone. But I also loved him for being so protective off her and loving her (in his own toxic way), I would have despised it where he the male lead though. I loved all the scenes where he would care for the FL and try to come to her rescue. I had a strange love/hate for him, he's usually the kind of toxic male lead I love watching in a (moderatly) toxic drama. His character development is him essentially getting worse and worse every episode.

I LOVED the ending. I was so happy that the leads stayed together until the end, no break up, just adorable bickering.
I think everyone got the ending the they deserved, maybe not the step family, but I didn't care for them much.

Colorful fun opening, and excellent themes but second half takes a dark, repetitive turn.

The strength of this drama lies in the relaxed, easy chemistry between the two leads and unique and touching themes about art, community and belonging. The first half has a lot of cute, comedic opposite attracts moments - but quickly falls into a ridiculous, dark conspiracy filled second half. Tons of rescuing/vowing protection scenes if you like those.

Again, the romantic chemistry was playful and great. The acting is competent, and you grow attached to the characters. But, there was a lot of over the top crassness/loudness to emphasize the class differences, plus cartoonish over acting from the villains.

Music was highly obvious in its cues and not particularly well done, and I'm not sure I'd rewatch. A few of those magical moments will linger on.

----
I grade on other criteria as well

Themes: 9.5
For those who grew up 'on the outside looking in,' a person or two providing meaning in their lives can make all the difference. Families we chose can provide a feeling of belonging where blood family may fail. Art provides an ability to learn about ourselves and others, to connect to something greater than the personal minutiae of day to day lives. Money makes the world go round, but a life worth living is about connectedness beyond ourselves. Women face unique vulnerabilities as orphans/foster children.

Character Growth/Complex Growth: 6.5
You learn a lot of interesting, complex back stories about the characters as the show goes on, but there isn't much 'character growth' per se, so much as their moods ebbs and flows.

Complex Women/Interactions Between Women: 7.0
There was one really great connection and story between Dali and a museum employee regarding a woman's value and worth in the world. Otherwise, the women were fairly silo'd from each other and somewhat caricatures or one note. It was mainly Dali and 3 main male leads.

Cinematography/Production Values: 8.0
By now, most K dramas have very competent and high production values, staging and cinematography, and this one is no different. One or two ways they filmed some of the museum/art scenes were highly creative but otherwise it was all well-done but standard.
