Wish for a sequel

I don't have much to say but one thing I can say for sure is that I truly enjoy and love the show. I was watching non-stop starting from ep1-15 but starting from that, the dept of their love story was revealed and it made me sad that I have to take a break from it a few times but I still enjoy very much.

Since the ending was so confusing for me, like I could not understand at all at the end of the story, so, I wish they would somehow make a sequel for this series. The sequel can be about the journey in life of the their baby and an explanation about the ending of Yan yue and Wei Zhi. I still have no clues what the ending is about and would like to know but I know that making a tv series is not easy, nevertheless, I still want a sequel for this series.

The love story of Yan yue and Wei Zhi is so tragic and their baby carry the formula (love curse) from them as well, making the baby's life later on even more difficult to live. And since they mentioned the baby had all kinds of powers of the realms inside, I was wondering how strong the baby will be since Wei Zhi didn't use her power much.

I'll wait patiently for this to have a sequel so, dear writer, if you ever by chance, came across my review then please take my review into consideration 😂 I know it's stupid and you probably won't even see it but please do consider a sequel for this series.

I sincerely thank you to all the actors, actresses, staffs, director and the writer for this beautiful heartbreak series.

Self plagiarism from the scriptwriter.

Overall this was a nice enough xianxia, kind of run of the mill, the side characters were the stars of this drama and the best parts. Unfortunately the scriptwriter decided to reuse parts of her script from Goodbye my princess, in the mortal arc. She basically copy pasted the concept, key points leading up to the climax and the climax itself. This did the whole drama a major disservice as it was hard to take anything seriously after that and the drama and heartbreak of it all was just missing. When I’ve already seen the scenes once, but better done, it’s not going to work a second time. The twist ended up being the fact that I’d already seen this twist before.
It’s a shame, because it was a nice enough show, not amazing or life changing, but just a nice show to watch. I’m going to avoid this scriptwriter from now on. Or I might just watch to see if she reuses it again….

Plot had potential but Bad Storytelling and Editing wasted it.

....................................................

This plot is not somewhat new in Xianxia genre but could have been more interesting if emphasis given on flow of storytelling. It feels weird and jumps from one scene to another which makes no sense sometimes.
Some scenes don't make sense why they are included in the particular situation.

...................................................
Now come to the acting and chemistry part.
...................................................

To be honest, acting was not worst but yeah not exceptionally good either. It was watchable to me so I feel it was in just okay category. The expressions of leads wasn't on the point sometimes, let alone micro-expressions.

I couldn't feel chemistry between leads when they were in Heavenly realm or in the Demon/Devil realm. It was almost bland without any spark.

A little spark I feel, when they were in human realm and Female lead was a General. This is the most interesting and well done arc of the whole drama. I think makers should have extended this part of the story.

...................................................
Characters
...................................................

I like SiMa Wang Yue and Chen Yan more than Wei Zhi and Yan Yue. Nan Mu was also good. Wei Ling Yue had potential to do something good but she end up being a toxic person.

Some characters are just annoying and waste of screen time like Yi Er. They didn't do anything in progression of the plot.

...................................................

Ending was rushed and bad. I don't have problem with sad endings but this one was exceptionally bad. Many characters died without any solid reason and efforts, like they were just for dying. I'm not even impressed with main villian as he could have done something more interesting but what he did was all predictable.

...................................................

Costumes were good but hair accessories of Female lead were too much even when she don't have money and comes from a poor family, though I like it in some scenes.

...................................................

So, in the conclusion, I won't recommend it to anyone.

...................................................

Downhill from the Start

What a feat... You've got a decent cast, quite good CGI, and costume design, along with a not-too-shabby (albeit basic) story setup. And then... this? What in the FRESH HELL happened in that writer's room???

The trope of a powerful, noble god trapped in an ordinary girl's body might be overused, but if executed well, it can still offer a captivating narrative. I appreciated the demon princess angle; it's refreshing to see a female lead in that role (or at least I haven't watched any dramas with that storyline yet). Moreover, the bond between her and her devoted brother had me intrigued. But the romance??? Oh boy, it felt like someone snipped out every scene that could've built their relationship naturally. I don't even want to continue diving deeper into this mess.

Ju Jingyi often receives criticism for her dramas and costumes. However, I genuinely wonder how much of that is actually her doing or decision. Personally, I believe she's a talented actress. Yet, the scripts she's been handed in recent years leave much to be desired (...to put it nicely). If I were her, maybe I'd just enjoy wearing those cute outfits as a silver lining in these roles. That's my theory at least lol and she DOES look stunning in them. Good for her.

decent

i actually liked this drama to a certain extent like it made me actually care for some of the characters, feel sad for them and etc. storywise it started off like okay but it felt like something was missing? idk but it also felt like the main couple's romance was a little odd and rushed but it turned out okay afterwards. the different lives part was interesting too and the male leads actor did a really good job. at the part when yanyue (ML) was abt to kill wei zhi (FL) i was on the brink of tears at that point i did care abt them and want them together but like after when mu nan (the demon lord) shows wei zhi her past life yan yues's past life really made me dislike him. i think the lack of showing his pov and inner thoughts created a disconnect between the viewers and the character so i honestly almost forgot abt how yan yue is not a horrible guy.

i think everyone was cast well and did a good job. the visual effects were also surprisingly good. the only weird part was when jjy would float in the air to use her phoenix powers.

the characters make some choices that i dont agree with and think are stupid but i did end up liking a few of them a lot. wei zhi is okay think but i feel like she is not silly enough like yeah shes the phoenix but jjy is more suited for characters with a sense of humor and less seriousness (pls cast her in a romcom). i did like sima wangyue more than weizhi just because of their personalities and jjy did a really well at the part where she was jailed cus ppl thought she was a demon like her expressions and voice was on point. yan yue as a character was a little iffy i think he just switched up too much i just couldnt get myself to trust him or like him. chen yan made it worse too like i just really hate him. he did some nice things for wangyue but he was a bitch to mu nan so i really dont like him. i think after yan yue "kills" wei zhi i just stopped caring abt the main couple like idrc abt them at all.

my favourite characters gotta be mu nan, yi er lan su and ou ya especially the last three cus they were just the perfect trio. i felt really bad for mu nan and liked him way more than the two mains and normally i dont like the male characters so his character was really good yk. i wont talk abt any of the major deaths here but one part i really disliked was how they just killed lan su off like ??? it was so unnecessary and she didnt do anything to deserve that like it was such a pathetic death too. also why did yan luo get a sad music video death monologue and not lan su. she got more screen time and she was more amusing. this is pretty girl erasure. i got spoiled that lan su died which made it even worse because it was such an underwhelming death. i do find it funny how she was talking for like five minutes straight after being hit by the killing strike and they didnt bother to try to like patch her up and stop the bleeding or smth. also why does no one have healing powers in this that is kinda stupid too. and why do song xinrans characters always die in the last few episodes like give her a break lmao.

another thing i disliked was how rushed the ending was. the whole things 36 episodes so why not just make it 40? the last two episodes are so squished together the time jumps are just crazy. they shouldve also made the prologue a whole extra episode itself cus it wouldve been nice to see how the characters ended up but i guess they cant do that either cus they made 30 year jump like who does that?

rewatch value is quite low cus there arent any outstanding parts that i would want to rewatch.

in general this drama was okay and it had potential and almost reminded me of ten miles of peach blossoms but was just not it ig. i think its a lot better than the blooms at ruyi pavillion so i dont get why the ratings for this are lower than for that one but ig this dramas a hit or miss like some people really hate it and some people really like it. i think im in between there somewhere.

Disappointing

Damn I’m so disappointed and what a waste of time. I really like it at first, but in the end it became bad. The story line of their past life was boring to me and it was many episodes.

Also the plot turn so bad and annoying. I skipped scenes and watch through TikTok towards the end.

The ending was horrible, open ending that I still don’t understand to this day. Why can’t the writers this year give us a clear happy ending or not a 1 min annoying happy ending. No happy ending for all the couple, disappointing too. Also, we were in the middle of the last episode and they were still fighting.

Also, why was the second lead in love with the female lead and he couldn’t just love her as a brother, annoying. We could have had a better storyline, romance for him and the cousin before he died.

The best part for me was the beginning before she left with the « brother » and they showed their last life.

I don’t recommend this drama.

Hard to keep watching

I had a hard time getting through this one but I did well. The story in itself sounded interesting yet the chemistry between the FL and ML felt kinda lacking. This could be blamed on the way in which the story was progressing though, which felt imo kinda rushed. Like one day he was her teacher and the next he was her lover? One day Mu Nan was deeply in love with Wei Zhi and the next he was team kitchen god? Did I miss something? Same with Lan su's death as well as the death of this peacock lady...there was no build up really, one strike was all it took leaving barely any time to process it afterwards.

In the end the story took the most ridiculous turn, like this glowing egg for example which was suppose to be their child. We never got to see it being born. After being protected for over 30+ years I would've expected to see at least that. In the end after zooming through the sky fighting eachother for a few minutes they went back in time like nothing ever happened. Kinda disappointing.

The most memorable thing worth mentioning might've been this test that the students had to go through during their time in the academy. That was pretty cool.

Was hoping it would be good

Story line was nothing special.... Both leads acting was not good. The FL was supposed to be dominating and take lead sounded and after like a... girl. Many parts, not good. ML acting was not great too. I actually find the evil sister a slightly better actress. After 20 episodes, struggling to continue. Hopefully it gets better.
Maybe i shouldn't have watched 'Love between fairy and devil' before watching this. Similar good is devil, bad is heaven gang. But the quality gap between this 2 dramas and the leads' acting is just tooooo big.

Not a Good Story

This story is poor from the episode 1. It does not make sense or connect. I would say it is choppy story not smooth and flow. Over all the casts are poor actors and actresses.

The plot, irony, ?? You pretty much loose track of what is going on from the beginning to the end.
It is a low budget and poor director. It could be better. I don't think the actor and actress have any chemistry.
God becames a devil? It does not make sense. Maybe they try to make a Lucifer was the God and became the Devil that would make sense. This story is full of ??

A xian xia drama that makes me want to watch more of it and not drop it half way through. Actors had chemistry you can tell even from episode 1. Story development was also very good. The actors and actresses acting skills are very good. The story idea was well developed. Im waiting for more episodes to be released. I finshed 28 episodes in 2 days. I hope its a happy ending. I would definitely rewatch this show a few more times

Waste of time/Bad Editing and Story Telling

As always I will give each drama a chance because, I would like to see many ofmy actress and actors perform Xianxia dramas (the three life times/master and diciple etc…). As long as the prodctuion and direction performs well I have no complaints.

Of course I watched this drama with no expectations because of Female Lead. The story itself was told in a bad way and the way how the main leads were involved with eachother. Their chemisty was okay and it did not buy it for me. The cutting and editing itself was bad. Both Female Lead and Male lead at the beginning was okay to watch other than that I didn’t really enjoy it as much as the side couples. Male lead did a great job as this is a first XianXia drama. His performance was good enough for his roles. Female lead, plays the same pretty character (like her other dramas) with too much hair accessory and always looking too pretty which always bothered me. This must have been one of the worst dramas she did.

Overall don’t waste your time to watch this drama if you’re looking for something good.

in my opinion

I’ve watched 19 of the episodes so far. don’t know if I want to finish. I agree with the other review that it really is trope heavy and predictable. But there were a couple of places I really liked- when FIL and MIL hid from the world and lived as regular people; the devil lord smiling and loving stir fry (wish he got the phoenix, thought they made a better fit); and the telling of the past.

What I found annoying was the costumes- a ‘soldier’s’ uniform looking feminine and form fitting, and the flouncy dress of the women. there are places where the leads were overdressed in comparison to the company they kept.

as for the story- it seems like they had different writers for each show or story arc or couple. Perhaps the directors had different visions of how the story should go or what’s explained/not explained. I admit that I still don’t understand the the split between the librarian and the dean- not sure if it’s a culture thing or just doesn’t make a lot of sense. and as for the heavenly emperor, time to go out to pasture pops, you are to stuck on yourself and contradictory.

I think better writing, directing, and better chemistry between the characters would help overall.
