Such a pity the story messed up halfway through the end.

Watching this reminded me of the drama “Immortal Samsara” which goes with the same storyline of choosing between love and responsibility in the heavenly realm but this one hurdles the romance by the odds of being sworn enemies. The ordeal was how can you possibly take the life of the one you love?

Story: The early stages of the drama from episodes 1 – 18 went smoothly. When the exposition of the back story of each character began, as the crises of the ML and FL were destined to clash with each other was revealed, it became dull and boring. The writer kept on creating new conflicts every time the ML and FL were starting to settle. It was annoying changing the mood of the drama again and killing the supporting characters one after another. In the end, you would be confused about what happened to the main leads. Was it a tragic finale or they were given a chance to go back in time to change their fate?

Acting/Cast: Fairly enough all the cast sustained their own characters despite a setback in the story structure. Guo Hun Chen and Ju Jing Yi are indeed perfect for the roles. They were well-matched visually with so much resemblance to each other.

This drama could still be an option to watch but just some run-of-the-mill.

Overall decent but could have had improvement

Overall I liked this drama, I felt it was worth that I watched it. I liked the Male and Female lead. But I do feel like the writing and directing could have some improvement. I almost wonder if they spent too much of their energy thinking about the outfits rather then the story. There are some wonderful outfits and the devil realm is very pretty. A lot of the aesthetics are beautiful. I honestly hope we will continue to have some more of this magical world and that the stories will start to improve.

An example of the writing and directing I'm referring to-
I can accept that the ML had a dilemma where he was told he had to kill his true love, or all living beings would suffer and be killed. But I feel like they did not give us enough time to focus on his internal conflict. He just sheds some tears before he is about to kill her. And then they gave us too much fillers about the side character Yi'er who is sad about the demon lord's death, even giving her a new admirer. There aren't even that many episodes to this show. So I feel they did not use the time of the show as well as they could have. it would be better if we had some more build up to certain events such as Yan Yue having to kill his true love, to make them feel more genuine. Considering the filler they maybe could have even made a longer "happy ending"

it also feels like sometimes side characters are seen as expendable in the shows. Not one side character had a happy ending. they even kill the wolf princes wife while she's pregnant to really rub it in. If the "happy ending" was longer and they go back in time and everything's fixed and everyone's happy, it could have potentially felt more complete.

I Like the beginning but the ending is not what I like?

The ost so good ju jingyi always the best for singing the ost The plot is actually 50-50 is not good and is not bad for me. All I can say the story I did enjoy it. I hope Ju jingyi and Guo Junchen can collabrate for the modern story next time 🤭🤗

I actually like the student and Shizun plot why not they put more script in this plot. I actually find it more fun than the plot Bandit and General daughter…

good plot, cast and acting

I like plots with main leads who become winners after facing hardships and this drama was interesting enough with many twists and turns in a fantasy, supernatural background. The main cast in this drama is good (I don't know much about Chinese actors to comment here) but in general, they are all very good in their roles.

All the main leads are good looking, with good costume, hairdo, background, scenery, music etc. (I binge watched the whole series in one go.)

The story is a bit dragging/predictable at times, especially in the middle part of the drama, but guess it is necessary to build up the climax of the story.

Seemed as I missed out the part about the female lead character's grandpa and father - how did they know that she was the reincarnation of the Phoenix... (???)

The ending is a bit unclear, but it was satisfactory in a sense that everything seems to be perfect as it should be (even if time was rewound somehow, so that everything went back to the most happy time for everyone).

Really enjoyed watching this drama. Will go search for more dramas with those good looking main female and male leads (they do look familiar somehow, I must have seen them in other works).

So close to being decent.

Summary:
The storyline is your typical Chinese, god, the weight of the world on your one decision story. The male lead is tasked with killing the female lead because he was told that she would bring chaos and destruction to the world, as a god he has to finish the task and remain neutral. However of course he falls in love with her and refuses to kill her.
**Spoilers**

They eventually find a middle ground where everything works out but it gets messed up because of the male lead father. The ending is very confusing. It's an open ending so if you don't like those then yea, not for you. From my understanding, the phoenix is reborn in the first life, and therefore the main lead couple's fate has changed because if the girl is still a phoenix then they are bound by fate to kill each other or cause war. So it's not the main lead falling for the phoenix, he's just falling for a regular mortal changing the course of both their fate.

Pace, acting, story:
It was fast-paced for me, think they rushed the ending and it wasn't an explained or a solved ending. The storyline had potential but when they added timetravel towards the end they messed it up, it was introduced too late and confused everything. I love the female lead, seen her in some other dramas, she did well as usual. As for the male lead, think this is the first time I've seen him, he did okay. Felt like there was no chemistry between these two, when they were together or you could say dating in the drama I found it awkward because I was like when did that happen other than the accidental falling and catching the female lead.

Overall the cast did great, loved the action scenes, just something to waste time or have in the background. If you're looking for full-on romance, chemistry, or action I think this isn't it. It has those things here and there but it's very simple.

It started so well but .....

Loved the beginning and the under dog story but it seemed like an attempt to remake Starry Love which I loved and which executed their storyline well.
It had very interesting elements and some good acting but it didn't come together for me. Usually love the female leads acting and her dramas though.
The first few episodes are the best but after the true phoenix is revealed it all goes downhill from there. The head gear and the powdery makeup were a problem and were distractions. The villains were good but had a lot of influence which did not always make sense. the concept of shylock----trading was good and unique

I wanna say I'm fairly kinda disappointed at this show. The first beginning couple of episodes were decent but then it gets boring. The story moves fast and everyone thinks Wei Lingyue is the phoenix. After we figure out that it is actually Wei Zhi, I don't know why she went to hide away. Instead of figuring out why the demons were "hunting her", she just runs away with her master.

What makes the story a little worse, is there is no explanation to anything. I'm still confused what Hua Rong, I'm still curious as how this phoenix even started. In one episode Mu Nan tries to kill Wei Zhi, to force Wei Lingyue to come out the door. Like if Mu Nan likes Wangyue, and Wei Zhi and Wangyue have the same appernce, then Mu Nan should have already known that Wei Zhi is the phoneix.

The story is a little complicated and the ending makes no sense. And I'm so tired of seeing Ju Jingyi wear literally the same style every drama.

A ten but a nine

This show was so great, from all of the actors to the unique storyline! Every single second was an absolute ten out of ten... I just could not let my heart give it a full ten bc of a couple of things... The following is not a full-on spoiler, but those sensitive to small clues just don't read the following lollll

Sooo without giving any real spoilers, there were a couple of characters whose endings bothered me and an overall somewhat open ending, albeit a seemingly happy one. I feel like a couple of 'sad parts' were rushed & could have been avoided; we were robbed of time to either grieve or hope at certain times...also confusing were a few characters that did not really get a solidified ending. Sooo overall the open ending gave hope, but after such an amazing storyline and detailed scenes in every single episode, I felt disheartened by this kind of rushed/open-ended scenario!

I Was Extremely Let Down

I usually can tell when a drama is going to be a disaster pretty early on and that usually leads to either me skipping a lot of useless scenes in my opinion or going to see how it ends. Typically this only happens with this genre of dramas though. I have to give it to the creators of Beauty of Resilience they outdid themselves making one believe the entire time that the drama will somehow end well. However just when you think things might be getting better at last it gets worse. Listen I truly hate Romeo and Juliet like stories, and yet I can at least manage to understand them, but in this drama we get Wei Zhi falling in love with Yan Yue despite him murdering her in her previous life, then “attempt” it again, but finally let her live. Yet maybe when we think they’re finally going to get together and fix their issues instead we get the Heavenly Emperor going completely nuts and literally murdering/ destroying every important character save for Wei Zhi and Yan Yue. But if this makes you think that maybe at least they get a happy ending think again. Whatever was that ending I honestly have no idea what happened. The egg became a Phoenix and flew but Yan Yue and Wei Zhi were missing or something. I honestly don’t know I want to say I like this drama but that ending was awful. Those last few episodes were excruciating trash.

Another addition to the "Could have been, but isn't" list

i have just completed this show and oh man!! where do i start. The story had a great premise and initially the execution was also brilliant.i have not skipped a single scene for almost 25 episodes and for me personally that's almost a milestone particularly when it comes to c-dramas. this was probablyh the third show after BEGIN AGAIN and ONCE WE GET MARRIED to achieve such feat. Then just like many other shows it just took a nose dive and by the time the show ended it crashed and burnt so hard that you almost feel the showmakers wanted the audience to hate themselves for putting in so much time of their lives.
So the story is about a spiritual creature THE PHONEIX that lives beyond the three realms namely heaven, demon and mortal. our FL wei zhi is from a noble family who after some unfortunate incidents had to live as a maid for WEI family.when the daughters of the wei family are asked to join the immortal bones cermony( or something i dont rremember the name properly) the maid is also asked to join them because she is also of the same age and when a group of 18members are presented near the mirror the phoneix awakens and all these 18 students are selected for training. In comes our ML yan yue who is an immortal being from the heavenly realm and god of the sun with a mission to find the real phoneix among the 18 students.he joins the academy as an instructor and a great love story unfolds.

PROS: i think the story is really fresh and one of the best fantasy fiction i have seen though the makers faltered in its execution.the VFX were really great from start to end.the OST was also great, the FL sang some of them and her voice is very soothing and brings out emotion of the scene very well.2ML acting was superb

CONS: the biggest CON was the ending.they just rushed through it and you end up scrathing your head over what has happened.they could have removed some unnecessary slow paced flashback(both leads previous lives) and given themselves some room in the end to make it an meaningful finish. I saw in iQIYI that the show is also known as HUORANG which is basically magical flower in the show, but they neither gave a backstory to huorang nor a decent explanation of what happened to it in the end.Second biggest con would be the casting,i would never hire the casting director ever again whoever he is. None of the leads were suitable for their roles, nor did the cast live up to thier roles.even the support cast failed to impress me.the main leads looked beautiful but personally didnt feel their chemistry appealing at all. funnily you will love the main lead acting when he is possessed by his evil father and becomes evil. The FL was never able to bring out any emotions properly for a role as powerful as the phoneix, she was literally the title actress but was always a damsel in distress preceded by an intense scene. The BGM was also not upto par when there are some intense scenes like when the FL first reveals herself to be the phoneix the bgm is just plain flat and almost brings down the whole energy of the scene.

All in all this was a show that could have been one of the greatest shows from china, but was brought down by its inconsistent pace of screenplay.its almost like they started the show with around 45 episodes in mind but were suddenly asked to bring it down to 36episodes. This show is watchable once for its freshness and a new concept, but never recommend to rewatch it not even once.
