Both dramas are Taiwanese crime/thriller dramas with Liu Guan Ting in a main role. Although he plays in "Not a murder story" a failed actor and in "Trinity of Shadows" a police man, he portrays very similar roles in both dramas, where his character goes through a difficult time, gets involved with a murder case that is related to him and ends up doing questionable actions.
The only difference is that his character is a better planer in "Trinity of Shadows" compare to his role in "Not a Murder Story".

Both dramas revolve around a love story that ended in tragedy. In both dramas there is a murder and that is somehow resembling a past case. Both dramas have male protagonists that are somehow involved in the case and try to find out the truth. Both are willing to go to very extreme ends in order to catch the right person. Additionally, both dramas portray how brutal and hard life can be.

Both are murder investigations. It is also uncanny to watch Frederick Lee in this, and Christopher Lee in Danger Zone...

Both very good crime/thriller shows with great story, plot twists and acting. If you like these kinds of shows, you will like Trinity of Shadows.

So while Trinity of Shadow is a lot darker, the essence is in both the same; How far someone is willing to go for the one that they love. In both dramas there is a group that investigates a case that is linked to a past case. In both dramas it involves a family (with Trinity of Shadows its more than one) and both have a similar conclusion.

Both dramas revolve around a crime and a small child that witnessed that crime. Both kid's father was convicted for that murder. Both kids grow up and become police officers that try to make up for what their parent did. Both fight for the right way in the police field. Both end up investigating cases that resemble the case of their fathers. Both find out that there is more to the case.

Both female leads are very similar in terms of character. They both are the leaders of their squad, they both try to find out what has happened, and are very strong and smart female leads. Also the cases resemble one another quite a lot and have as a theme revenge.

- both are really good Taiwanese dramas
- both dive deep into main characters’ emotions, thoughts and problems
- Lovely Villain is about a sexual assault case, not a murder case like Trinity of Shadows
- both dramas have overall similar mystery/thriller/drama vibe

Similar story. An old case is reinvestigated.
People will go to unusual means in order to investigate the truth behind an old case. If you enjoyed Trinity of Shadow you will surely enjoy The Post-Truth World.
