Easy snack while waiting for your fave long drama to drop
Emperor or General is one of the few good surprises I got when I got “scammed” into getting the MgTV membership for Queen of Attack.|STORY IS NOTHING NEW BUT AT LEAST NO FILLER SCENES|
One of the advantages of the mini drama setup is that writers are forced to create a decent story that works with the short run time and Emperor or General team knew what they were doing. They gave enough screen time for both the emperor, general, and Song Qingqing without bogging us with unnecessary court drama.
|DECENT CHARACTERS W/ NO OVERTLY ANNOYING VILLAIN|
We get the basic characters with the required “villain”. But the eunuch and the princess are mostly shown as being pesky side characters with no real venom. The princess actually turns into Qingqing’s friend later on.
|CHILL PROBLEMS AND OK CHEMISTRY|
Personally, Neither the emperor nor the general looks good in the idol way. But they do have chemistry with the female lead. I think the FL lead has potential playing the ray of sunshine FL since her smile looks really genuine. She also had that cute bantering chemistry with the stoic general.
Conclusion:
With 7mins per episode and 20 episodes in total, I do suggest watching this drama if you already have the MgTV membership. Specially if you are waiting for the next episodes of your favorite drama to drop. In my case, while waiting for the Eternal Love S3.

A Short Surprise
It is a short love story. It is cute and very enjoyable. The story starts like a dream and ends with a big surprise. The characters are perfect. The female lead character (Song Qingqui) is strong minded and independent. She keeps every episode alive with her ideas. The 2 male leads characters (The General/The Emperor) are very handsome and both want to support the female lead character. The other female lead at first you start thinking she will be an obsessive character but she becomes the lead female characters friend and joins her at her adventure in opening an entertainment/restaurant. The characters are very charismatic and have a lot of chemistry together. The ending was perfect as we find out what happens to all the characters. The actors performance of the characters is very good and I really enjoy the story.Was this review helpful to you?
Great contained romcom that's entertaining & quick watch
Each episode is only 10 minutes. Despite this, the story is quite entertaining and a typical but nicely done short transmigration story with a happy ending. It's a great filler when you're feeling bored/down. Characters are interesting, romance is sweet, and the second lead is also interesting.Personally had an issue with audio sometimes being a bit loud for the voiceover, but you can still make out the audio.
I ended up watching this on MangoTV but the subtitles were pretty whack LOL, if you can understand basic conversational Chinese this series won't be a problem.
