a short miniseries with love triangles (or rectangles???)

Content Warnings: none I can think of

What I Liked
- visuals, the actors are cute
- production (like sound, subs, lighting) are actually pretty good for what I'm assuming is a very small budget
- the BTS clips at the end of each episode are fun to watch

Room For Improvement
- the crying itself was fine but when he raises his head it didn't look like he had been crying at all (i.e. no tears, red eyes or nose)
- the kiss wasn't the best but it definitely wasn't the worst that I've seen
- this season ends on a cliffhanger
- I'm watching the 2nd season and you really don't know who to ship or what the endgame is, there are multiple people liking other people

the acting was hmmm ok in parts, on other's - needed work. bottom line, u could see they newbies. maybe that was also the case with the productions crew?!? either way plot is very simple. more 3 guys that r gay and had feelings for each other meeting again, then "Three young boys, who were high school friends...".

we got Hin that's the MC, who is dreaming of making it big, as a singer - for now just got some fan's online. A'Yao his ex who is a total douche, that is more interested in hooking up then "doing"/finding anything permanent. not really likeable, even though there was a scene where he's with a hook-up and having a nightmare, about his ex after Hin (Sheldon) that cheated on him, which doesn't go to explain the over reaction in the form of a nightmare - but this so short there was almost no time to really get into the nitty-gritty (i guess?!?)...
he and Hin reconnect in more then one way. (u have to guess and assume a lot, as there is no "how they meet again"). as A'Yao doesn't follow Hin online and doesn't even know he has a channel, not to mention Hin's breaking contact with all his high-school buddies according to A'Yao. btw A'Yao wasn't even in the same school as Hin - so there is a bit of a mix-up - like i said there is a lot left for the viewer to 'connect the dots' to make senses of everything.

Hugo on the other hand was Hin's classmate and friend, who also had a crush on him and after confessing and getting rejected, they drifted apart (guessing). as Hin is going to the same collage, he run's into Hugo and on their second encounter (that Hugo initiates, cause he want's to clear the air) he asks Hin if they r still friends, making sure that even though he got rejected that doesn't mean they can't still be friends.
Hin reassures Hugo and even invites him to his place for drink's - which Hugo takes as a sign that maybe this time around Hin is ready and more receptive to the idea of them being together. Hin either obtuse or idk what, cause he surprise's Hugo with A'Yao - who walk's in all attitude, ignoring Hugo, making him the third wheel and bursting his illusion.

as we got alcohol, A'Yao drink's to oblivion turning belligerent knocking Hin down - who was trying to take him to "sleep it off", Hugo come's to Hin's defense and A'Yao get's into an altercation with him. Hin intervenes and take A'Yao out, coming back only to berate an apologetic Hugo (as if he was at fault - like WTF?!? that's the moment i wanted Hugo to walk out - heck the sec A'Yao showed up, i would've made and excuse and walked out on HIn's ass. but i digress...) Hin that until that moment showed little to no interest in Hugo - well only the platonic kind - offer's to massage Hugo's injured shoulder, ordering him to undress - while looking around to make sure that no one was watching - dude wanted Hugo (!) but Hugo is the smart one, who knows he deserves better then to be a one night stand, that happened cause they were drunk and then he could be brushed off - "wakes up" from the fantasy, apologizes and walks away. leaving a very flustered Hin wondering WTF lol that was really a good end - and even if i didn't know who i was rooting for, in that moment - Hugo became the one ! cute one off that really doesn't go anywhere.

Good things come to those who wait!

Well how do you rate a drama that keeps getting better and better over three seasons, so far? I could clearly see the evolution in production values, acting, storytelling but the episodes are painfully short! And even then they managed to deliver a comprehensible story.

This is the review for all three seasons!

I'm A Fool For You is about three highschool friends who suddenly meet again after five years. The center is Hin, a beautiful boy, with head full of dreams about becoming an idol and a toxic personality. His best friend Hugo has been in love with him forever and though he returns those feelings, Hin does not want to date him because he does not believe in love forever after and prefers having Hugo as a friend. He ends up losing him anyway. They meet again years later at the university, Hugo still carrying the torch for him. Hin still does not want to hear him out but hooks up with Yiu, another friend from school on a dating app. The first season features only these three characters. See the poster.

In second season we see the arrival of additional characters: Victor, Hugo's flatmate and Cory, Hin's BFF. This season tells us more about Hugo's backstory: the love confession to Hin and subsequent rejection, deception and sleeping around and finally being practically kicked out by his father. Hugo is a weak man, serviable, obsessively in love with Hin, addicted to him and does not know how to move on. Hin decides to pursue his musical career in Taiwan so he rejects Hugo again this time pushing him to the brink. Hin proved himself to be a selfish, uncaring man, only interested in himself, a real narcissist.

The third season takes place some time later: Hugo, depressed, attempted suicide. Unknown to anyone, Hin has come back from Taiwan with his tail between his legs, having failed to get his singing career off the ground. He now works as a server in a bar. He meets there Tony, who is kind to him but it turns out that Tony is just his twin, someone who cares nothing about others. When Hin is abandoned, just like he abandoned people who loved him, he breaks down and realizes that he should have held onto Hugo. Hugo, on his side, even though he still pines for Hin, decides to move on with his life when he meets Oliver. There are many new characters in this season, giving us a deeper insight into the lives of the three main leads.

Everything about the first season screams amateurs: the writing, the acting, the filming and I almost dropped it after 5 minutes since it was really unwatchable. But then the song started, a beautiful song and I was hooked because of it. And I said, it is short, let's just finish it. I was in for a really nice surprise since I did not expect anything in particular!

The story deals of addiction to someone, of obsessively loving someone even though they are not nice to you. The person Hugo loves is beautiful on the outside and immature and damaged on the inside. We do not know much about him, his family and upbringing but everything he does, the way he treats people who love him screams of a traumatic event. Hugo himself is not handsome and has low esteem but is kind and sweet, very vulnerable. It takes Oliver to have him realize he is worth more than he thinks and that he should stop demeaning himself. And finally enjoy a loving relationship between equals.

The posters for the two first seasons were what initially caught my attention: a drawing with cartoon drawn main characters. The intro (blink and you miss it!) is also a cartoon and is really pretty. I liked how they added new characters to it in every season.

The actors get better with every season with the exception of Pius Kung who played Hin and unfortunately seems to be losing his acting chops along the way. He found them again in the last episode: too little too late.

And of course, the music was the best part of the series: three dreamy songs....

This is a good short watch just don't expect high production values but they gave it all. There is also a blooper reel/BTS at the end of every episode. I hope they'll make another season!

A Confusing Story of Unrequited Love

Maybe it was due to an inadequate translation issue, but I honestly was not sure what to make of this series. Although it is very short, I found it quite confusing. Perhaps it was the translations, but I do think the editing was the main culprit. It was not clear which scenes were from the past and which were of the present. This is a prime example of a sociopathic view of the world of love. These roles are very difficult because the internal structures of their emotions are not fully explored in this series, and we are forced to fill in the blanks here.

Projeto amador
