A Solid Watch To Fill Gaps In Your Viewing Schedule
The North South reunification is one of my favourite Kdrama genres. Each drama I have watched on this issue have provided a different take on the subject whether it’s sleeper agents, defectors, unusual happenings in the demilitarised zone, families hoping to reunite one day or just as a romantic or even comical back drop. So, I didn’t hesitate to start watching My Military Valentine. What I found with My Military Valentine is that it adds another dimension to the list of shows on this subject of reunification that is worth a look.
We have an idol who starts out as coming across as entitled and likes getting his own way. However, this quickly dissipates as we get to see the real Lloyd unfold. When he comes up against who will be his platoon commander and the centre of his affection, the hijinks begin.
Baek Young Ok Is a complex character formed by her military upbringing in the North from a young age. She has a deep grievance as a result but does her duty as required. Meeting Lloyd in essence opens the door on a world where she can maintain her serious pursuits but also let her emotions start to show.
Throughout its run, My Military Valentine explores each character’s experiences regarding the North. We get to see the sadness of experiencing loved ones lost, the hope for a better life in a city designed to bridge the reunification gap and a terror organisation hoping to bring the whole thing down. We even get to see a bit of “bromance among” the elite military team.
Lloyd and Young Ok are solid as the OTP. They have up and down moments due to others trying to get in the way of their blossoming relationship. At times, their interactions, thanks to Lloyd, are quite comical, even endearing.
Show has plenty of action and intrigue. It tries to keep you guessing as to who the bad guys are. Although I had some issues re the technical military side of things e.g. how snipers went about their tasks, I didn’t find show disjointed as some found.
I thought the shorter length episodes worked. Would show have benefitted from another episode or two? Yes. At the end of the day, show doesn’t take up too much time and is a pleasant way to fill in any gaps you have in your viewing schedule ??

Better than the crappy reviews say it is
Just give this one a try. The asthetics are great, and as far as a good show to get into its good. If you go into this expecting Crash Landing you’ll be massively disappointed. Who does that? Obviously plenty of people. The concept is great. I don’t think the budget was massive but its executed just fine, and its light in parts not overly heavy. A good escape type drama without having to worry about too much. The chemistry is good also. Honestly I’ve watched some stuff lately that was a complete disaster. Just watch, enjoy and ignore the critical nonsense. Was this review helpful to you?

i watched it because of Cute ML
Drama is low budget trashFL is taking advantage of her senior position and innocence of ML to
play in both sides
from the point she shot her own team( even on vest) she become a traitor and a traitor no matter what deserve death penalty
she should be executed for her action and ML should be charge with treason for being a accomplice in her treason.
no matter what she prove at end, her action are selfish and self centered
there is no concern about her team mates,
her life should be treated same way, she treat other human life's,
why there is exception because superstar got seduced ?
ML is a fool, that is controlled by his lust and doing everything or anything to get that girl,
even if it means to share her with other man,
how come a Kpop star is shown as this much low self esteem,
at first i like it as it has strong FL and cute ML, new for Kdramas but then there is other 2ml,where FL Behaves like a weakling

A beautiful love tale
IntroductionThings have been hectic as North and South Korea are heading for unification. Airways and waterways have opened up and people are requested to move freely. Soldiers from both north and south have been brought in one point and a peaceful city in DMZ has been established -Pyeonghwa Metropolitan. Posing as a symbol of unification this place is where two Koreas have been cohabiting.
Review
In the process of celebrating such a historic event. A global band FITA has been invited to perform. Llyod, the team star member, gets embroiled in the scandal as he goes out to buy a weapon. He crosses paths with the leader of the unified military team Young Ok. Though love is not on the card every time he sees her, he worries about her.
It is the story of Korea where both north and south are heading for unification. Lloyd gets caught under the compromising condition of buying weapons and Young Ok gets the chance to train him. Young Ok who had been living a happy life found herself in a military unit when her military general and professor's mother got framed in a political conspiracy. Burdened by the wrong past she is working hard to hold her position as her nightmare keeps on coming. Meeting Llyod seems like an external world in her scheduled life.
After the success of Crash Landing On You, stories reflecting the lives of two sides of Korea are bound to set the expectation bar high. Llyod is childish and immature. His popularity and characteristics draw inspiration from a multitude of idol audiences through Korean dramas. Lack of knowledge about the real world makes him a little immature. Young Ok, on the contrary always puts up with a tough face but inside she is more child than Lloyd. The scene where she trusts those people selling fake medicines reveals the child she has been.
Kim Min Seok in the shoes of idol Lloyd is smooth like silk. He summons an inner child who struggles to adjust to the real world as they lack social skills. Nam Gyu Ri as Young Ok is warm and strong at the same time. She does not hesitate in the face of bullets and always puts her team first. So Ra is an appropriate choice. She channels an inner strength that is necessary for a soldier. The chemistry between leads is the essence of the story.
Conclusion
The journey of Koreans coming from two different parts of Korea always piques interest. Love amid war is something the audience enjoys. And here the leads encapsulate a tale that crosses fire and has been healing their hearts in the process. It is not just a war or love story but more than that.

The worst drama I've ever seen!!
The truth is I don't know where to start, I was waiting for this drama because the plot seemed promising, the idea of unification between South Korea and North Korea. And I've already seen some good series on the subject (Crash Landing, Two Hearts, and more). I also got to see quite a few dramas with the main actors Kim Min Seok (at least 6 of his dramas) and Nam Gyu Ri (at least 5 dramas), both very good actors.I have seen over 300 Korean dramas/movies, better and less good, (there were always messages in the dramas, or touches on important issues such as diseases, the relationship between parents and children, the relationship between North and South Korea intertwined with love stories, difficulty in studies, drug smuggling, families Bull, corruption, the lives of celebrities, a story about the poor and the rich, life in the village versus life in the city..and more..) But this is the first time I got so upset, every episode I saw I thought the drama would get better, but in practice until the end it didn't happen, instead it became more Bad (I saw all 12 episodes).
So what went wrong in this drama:
Bad acting, bad direction, bad production, stupid dialogues, and unrelated subplots, (why did they include the story of the couple who had twins, or the man who was waiting for his lover "Natasha" - what exactly was their role - for me it was to inflate the The plot and nothing more . And what's the point l with speaking English in a drama (what! what! what was that, so stupid and irrelevant and not even funny)
I must point out that in almost every drama I activate a range of emotions, laughter crying empathy/sympathy, heartbreak, joy, but, in this drama rI couldn't get any emotion in this drama except ange
Soundtrack - was boring and casual
I must point out that from time to time I write reviews for series/movies, this is the first time I have to write such negative reviews (sorry)
Bottom line, one big disappointment, this is my personal opinion, everyone will make a decision whether to watch or not, 12 episodes of half an hour each episode, a total of 6 hours of continuous viewing). good luck

Simple.
light with some underlying serious tones mashed with adorable characters and beautifully yet somewhat lackey writing that leaves more to be desired. I feel like the two themes clashed too much with no middle ground. Nam Gyu Ri's role as the FL was done well to what she was given. ( would not have imagined her to be from Kairos)all in all a light watch to binge without much thought. ?

IF YOU ARE SEEING THIS TITLE DON'T WATCH THIS GARBAGE SERIES
If you're contemplating spending your time on "My Military Valentine" (2024), you might want to reconsider. The direction in "My Military Valentine" is abysmal. It feels like the director had no clear vision or understanding of how to weave a coherent story. Scenes lack continuity, and the pacing is erratic, leaving viewers confused and disengaged. It's as if the director tried to piece together a narrative with no sense of direction, resulting in a jumbled mess that fails to captivate.
The music in this series does nothing to enhance the viewing experience. It feels out of place and poorly integrated into the scenes. Rather than complementing the emotions and action on screen, the soundtrack is more of a distraction, often detracting from key moments. It's evident that little thought went into the selection and placement of the music.
Action sequences are perhaps the worst aspect of "My Military Valentine." They are poorly choreographed, lack excitement, and are often so unrealistic that they become unintentionally comical.
The leads in this series seem utterly lost. Their performances are wooden and unconvincing, with no chemistry between them. It's hard to believe that these actors were chosen for their roles, as they appear to have no grasp of their characters or the story. Watching them attempt to emote and interact is a cringeworthy experience.
The director has created a piece of work that is, quite frankly, one of the worst I've seen in a long time. It’s hard to fathom how something this poorly executed made it to the screen.

Yeah song jaerim came in and ruined any other ship?
I did defend fl being the cold emotionless one, but dang she’s so naively dumb, their North Korean men are never made out that clueless
Tho I’d only pass it off, cuz she was harassed as a child to be in the army but common sense left the chat
