1943, Tokyo. Shinkichi Hamamura, a university student, learns that his father, a military officer, died in battle. Impacted by this event, he decide to join Tsuchiura Naval Air Corps with his friends. Shinkichi is also incorporated into the kamikaze corps. Soon, feeling that his last mission is approaching, the man decides to return home for the last time and say goodbye to his relatives, not telling them about joining the kamikaze squad.
