In August 1945, the Second World War was coming to an end and the war finally affected a nunnery in the mountains on the Yunnan-Burma border. On August 10th, the National Army raided the nunnery and Sisters Lai and Qin volunteered to lead the National Army to attack the Japanese artillery positions. The difficult and bloody process along the way gave the two young nuns a true understanding of human nature and the war. Sister Qin becomes emotionally involved with the soldiers and leaves the convent, while Sister Li becomes more tolerant of human nature and insists on staying in the convent to serve God.
