Same level of weirdness - what sums up both movies well. Otakus might have higher quality and be more theatrical while Quiet Room has a story to tell.

Both movies take place in a mental institution and combine both funny/humorous with trahic/serious elements. In both theres characters dealing with different mental health issues, among those for example eating disorders.

Both are japanese movies about a female writer with mental health issues/illnesses like depression. She has romantic relationships with quirky guys also. Both films have funny but also serious moments, although body drop asphalt takes itself a lot less serious.

The main character in both has serious mental issues caused by several different factors. Because of her mental illness and seeking out/being forced into treatment, they meet other women and form bonds. Both movies also tackle s**cdal thoughts and eating disorders.

Both japanese films tackle the topic of mental illness and depict characters struggling with their life and mental health. They can get quite ugly and serious.
