Remember my xiao Gege feilu (leo si) - Nirvana in fire -he always takes care of Mei cangsu (huge). I think bis charater, same like wenning who always takes care of Wei wuxian. Both of these role-players lose their power, making their guard always take of him. And iya about bromance. Mei changsu with wangkai. Untamed u can seee Wang Yibooooo. Baby boys . Hahaha. This drama is not about romance girl and boy, but u cant stop watching until end. And u Will be replay again... more and more... (The untamed.2?) Haaha

Nirvana in Fire and Money Flower are revenge dramas in which the plot is controlled by the main leads under the guise of an alternate identity. They are both highly intelligent so they rarely make any mistakes and control almost everyone around them like chess pieces.

Both male lead have similar backgrounds.
They are both the sons of generals.
They both faced almost fatal life changing situations when they were younger which caused their martial arts to be completely destroyed and got severely poisoned.
They both can't fight at all but are extremely smart.
The difference would be NIF male lead lost his whole family because they were falsely accused of treason. He came back for revenge and to get justice and find out the truth for his family and everyone involved.
LIB male lead was abandoned by his own father to save the crown prince and his mother died saving him. He himself wanted to die but fml changed his mind when they were younger which made him kinda obsessed with her.
NIF is more about politics and scheming while romance is almost non-existent but LIB is more romance focused with some scheming and politics.

Ok, I think it's time I place these two together. Thanks to having found The Vigilantes in Masks and it being such a great drama and having many years of drama watching, when I finally found Nirvana in Fire, I was able to fully enjoy and appreciate it and always felt something similar in regards to it. Idiot me didn't know how to use this recommendations thing. The Vigilantes in Masks is like the wuxia version, and Nirvana in Fire is like the political version. Of course, they have many different elements. But the biggest thing that stood out in similarity for me is the main character. They both are very smart and make you feel calm when they're present on the screen--like you just know that everything will be alright as soon as they show up. A kind of hero type of feeling that not many dramas give off for me.

They both have very intelligent main characters with strategic minds who fight for what they believe to be correct. Both dramas are very well written, keeping the audience engaged from beginning to end.

I couldn’t help thinking the 2 dramas are similar in the sense of winning ratio for the good guys!!
Both leads are very smart and their strategic planning leaves you impress!
Bad guys got satisfying endings
Both drama has romance but it’s not their highlight nor important in the plot...still..it’s a cute watch when it’s put in every now and then.

1) Smart and strategic ML.
2) ML has more than one identity.
3) ML has connections in both jiang hu (pugilistic world) and chao ting (government/political world).
4) ML has an extensive information gathering/spy network.
5) Both dramas have a strong FL who knows how to fight!
6) Both dramas have romance, although it is not a major theme in Nirvana in Fire, unlike in Who Rules the World, where there is more focus on romance.
7) Both dramas are heavy on political intrigue, scheming, strategizing, and outsmarting their enemies.
8) Well choreographed fight scenes and grand battle scenes.

If you never watch C-drama because the eps are way too many, don't worry. Because Nirvana in Fire won't disappoint you. Personally, I hate long dramas. But this one makes me keep watching it without skipping any of the eps. Both dramas are very unique. It told about brotherhood and guy friendship a lot. The main attractions from both dramas are the strong bonds between the two best friends. Both dramas also have great actings and great cinematographic. You will be blown away by the beauty of each scene and the storytelling as well.
The Prison Playbook is more funny and shorter but it has also some dark cynical theme and storytelling. This drama is literally going to mess around with your emotions. One time you are laughing the next one you are either angry or crying. it's kind of bittersweet.
Nirvana in Fire is more serious but also makes you think a lot. The main protagonist here is very smart (Prison Playbook's protagonist is kind of dumb but also smart in a way). He is very cunning but that's what makes the drama is very interesting. He is cunning for a greater good and the way he is able to get ahead of his enemies is just mind-blowing. if you worry if the story is way too serious, it does have some comedy but the drama genre is more like a slice of life kind of thing than comedy. The story will touch you deeply and if you really really like the brotherhood theme kind of thing. You really need to check this one out. It also has a season 2 with a different protagonist but the background story is related. You can watch the season 2 without watching season 1 but I think I like season one better. But both are really really good.

Both leads (the protagonist in NiF, the antagonist in Devil) use their enemy's dirty secrets and past deeds as their weapon to bring said enemy down while not actually doing anything besides setting the stage, thus not dirtying their own hand directly.

Only in The Devil the lead did what he did for pure revenge, while in NiF the lead did it to clean his family's name.

Intrigue! Not everything and everyone is as they seem. Great plot, action scenes and actors. Strongly recommend to all
