Clemi-chan's Weekend Movie Picks

 
Among the Asian movies I have seen, there are some of them I just really enjoyed, and here is my selection. I chose to talk about a Chinese, a Japanese and a Korean movie, to show more variety! And before you start, those are romance stories ^^
 

Country: South Korea                        Year: 2004                        Genre: Romance, comedy
 
Story: Ye Won is a quiet girl, who lives a peaceful and unoriginal life. But one day she answers a bad comment on a website, and happens to meet the one who did it, a bad boy named Eun Seong (Song Seung Hun) who starts persecuting her, and says he wants to date her. The fact is that she accidentally stole his first kiss, so he won't let her go. When hundred of girls would die to be at her place, she refuses at first, but let's say he is... really persistent (and hot!!)
 

Comments:  It's based on a novel by Guiyeoni. It also exists in a Chinese drama version. The story is not really original, but totally cute, and I loved both leads!
 
Why you should watch it!!
 
The story is both funny and cute, and it also gets serious at some point. I think it's a good movie to relax, and it makes me dream, so I highly advise it to you! (Did I mention that Song Seung Hun was totally HOT? Well it's done then ^^)

Country: China                             Year: 2005                               Genre: Romance, Drama, Musical
  
Story: Sun Na (Zhou Xun) and Jian Dong (Takeshi Kaneshiro) haven't seen each other for years, and find each other on the same set, filming a movie. The movie is directed by Nie Wen (Cheung Jacky), Sun's new boyfriend. 10 years ago, she was in love with Jian Dong, but doesn't want to remember the happy times they had together, while he still loves her. The story they have to play is one of a girl who loses her memory, and starts working in a circus. Jian Dong plays her boyfriend who wants to help her get back her memory. Soon, reality meets their own story...
 
Comments: The songs are really amazing, as it's a musical. And the story is beautiful as well. And to show you it's good, it even got awards!! And seriously Zhou Xun is really a great actress.
 
Why you should watch it!!
 
Because Zhou Xun got the best actress award at the Hong Kong Film Awards, and the ost also got an award (I told you it was great!!) The story is really good, and it's not even silly. It looks realistic and true, with romance. It's not just about love, it's about people, and how they evolve. (Oh yeah, and Takeshi Kaneshiro is so handsome it's a plus ^^)

Country: Japan                                           Year: 2011                           Genre: Romance, Drama
 
Story: Yukari (Kittagawa Keito) is a normal-in-every-way high school girl who gets good grades and is in love with her classmate Tokumori. One day, she meets a group of weird people (well, that's her first impression on them ^^) who are design students, and make their own cloth, under the brand Paradise Kiss. Their boss/friend Georges (Mukai Osamu) acts weird towards Yukari (he picks her at school, and pays her a new hairstyle) and asks her to be their model. At first, she refuses, but little by little, she starts to appreciate them...
 
Comments: The story is based on a manga by Ai Yazawa (which I have read, and it's really great!) It's one of my first Asian movies, and personally I loved it!
 
Why you should watch it!!
 
The visuals are great, and the music is beautiful too. The story is original, and the main characters have a great chemistry. I don't want you to think that I only watch movies for the eye-candy, but you have to admit Mukai Osamu is seriously good looking here!
