Don Lee's Actioner "The Roundup: Punishment" Attracts 1 Million+ Moviegoers on 2nd Day of Release
tvN's new Monday-Tuesday drama Family: The Unbreakable Bond is an espionage comedy about a husband working as a NIS agent under the disguise of an ordinary office worker and a sweet and cruel wife who dreams of a perfect family.
When asked why he chose Family: The Unbreakable Bond, Jang Hyuk said, "More than anything else, the genre appealed to me".
Family: The Unbreakable Bond marks the fourth collaborative work of the Jang Hyuk Jang Nara. Their other K-dramas include Whenever they meet, such as Successful Story of a Bright Girl, Fated to Love You, and the 2014 MBC Drama Festival Old Goodbye.
When asked about how it feels to be reunited with Jang Na Ra, Jang Hyuk said, "I have been working well with Jang Nara since the Successful Story of a Bright Girl. I think each of our characters is well-matched and balanced," he said. "This romantic comedy properly balances comedy while going in-depth into the story. Since Jang Nara is good at delivering realistic performances, she makes room for me to naturally immerse in".
He further added, "When I act with Jang Na Ra, I don't think 'what will she do in this part and how I should adjust'. We are acting naturally with trust in each other’s ability, so we sync well like a perfect couple".
When asked about his character Jang Hyuk said, "Kwon Do Hoon lives a double life and has secrets, but he has the joys and sorrows of wanting to protect his family".
He continued, "Through Kwon Do Hoon, when I'm acting as a husband at home, I think I did a lot of fun acting which is unique to the rom-com genre. On the other hand, outside the house, as a black agent, I wanted to show a dry and cold side, so I wanted to focus on expressing the contrast that comes from leading a double life".
When talking about working with Lee Soon Jae, Kim Kang Min, Yoon Sang Jung, and Shin Soo Ah - who appear as the family members of Kwon Do Hoon and Kang Yoo Ra in the K-drama - Jang Hyuk said, "I think the balance everyone creates together is good. I think this family's eccentricity and fresh appearances are portrayed in a very fun way".
He also mentioned Chae Jung An and Kim Nam Hee. He said, “I met and worked with Chae Jung An for the first time in this drama, and she seems to express the charm of her cool character well. He continued, “I think Kim Nam Hee is not only good at acting but is also an actor with a good personality and charm".
Lastly, Jang Hyuk said, “Family: The Unbreakable Bond combines comedy, action, and drama. Please look forward to it for a fresh and unique genre".
