Actress Kim Mi Kyung delivered a remarkable performance in the JTBC weekend drama Doctor Cha, portraying the role of Oh Deok Rye, a mother who wholeheartedly cherishes her daughter Cha Jung Sook (played by Uhm Jung Hwa). Oh Deok Rye has run a side dish store in the market for over 20 years but becomes a dedicated and daring caregiver in the medical field when Jung Sook enters medical school and decides to work in the same industry.

However, she is greatly shocked to learn that her son-in-law, In Ho (played by Kim Byung Chul), had an affair and even had an extramarital child while dining out.

Furthermore, she notices that the person who had an affair, Seung Hee (played by Myung Se Bin), is the assigned doctor, which infuriates her even more. Although Deok Rye initially planned to move to another hospital, Jung Sook's words convince her, "I don't want my mother to be sick when I'm not there," and ultimately decides to stay. Eventually, Deok Rye finds the cause of the pain, receives treatment, and she can be discharged.

On the day of departure, Deok Rye personally visits Seung Hee's room, her son-in-law's affair partner and the doctor responsible for her treatment, and hands her a letter. The heartfelt letter encourages Seung Hee "From now on, live an honorable life for yourself. That is when you will find real happiness." The letter brings tears to Seung Hee's eyes.

Kim Mi Kyung, through her portrayal of Oh Deok Rye, who has dedicated her life to her beloved family, captivates the viewers with her strong chemistry with Uhm Jung Hwa as a mother-daughter duo. Particularly, she depicts the compassionate and firm-hearted Deok-rye, who embraces even Myung Se Bin, who did her best for the patient, with warmth.

Earlier this year, Kim Mi Kyung showcased different motherly characters in the dramas Trolley and Agency, fully demonstrating her exceptional acting skills in portraying unique characters in each work and proving her accumulated expertise.

Meanwhile, Doctor Cha, in which Kim Mi Kyung is currently appearing, depicts the life-healing journey of Cha Jung Sook, who transitions from being a 20-year housewife to a first-year resident. The drama airs every Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 PM KST.
