On July 30th, 2023 (New York local time), Lee Ha Nee's agency Saram Entertainment announced that she had won the Best Actress award (Best of the East) at the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF).

The New York Asian Film Festival is an annual film festival in New York City, USA, showcasing the best Asian cinema. This year, Lee Ha Nee's films Killing Romance and Phantom were both selected for the festival, and she captivated global audiences with her performances in both films.

In particular, Lee Ha Nee's Best from the East Award is even more meaningful as it is given to an actor with outstanding acting skills.

After receiving the award, Lee Ha Nee said, "I am grateful. I am honored to receive this award." She continued, "Killing Romance and Phantom were films that were made during a difficult and intense time as the world was facing the challenges of COVID-19. As humans, we felt so weak and helpless in the face of this unprecedented pandemic, but through this time, we realized the great power of art." She added, "A film cannot be made by an actor alone. It results from the combined efforts of all the team members, including the actors, directors, producers, and staff. I am receiving this award on behalf of the team members I have worked with, and I will humbly accept it."

In Killing Romance, Lee Ha Nee played the role of Hwang Yeo Rae, a retired top star who falls in love with her husband Jo Na Dan (Lee Sun Kyun) and retires but dreams of making a comeback. She showed a variety of passionate performances. In the film Phantom, set during the Japanese colonial period, she played the role of Park Cha Gyeong, who is in charge of recording the communications and ciphers of the Governor-General's Office. She showed her action acting without hesitation, and she was praised for her rediscovery.

Lee Ha Nee has shown her excellent acting skills by surpassing the limits of each work in the two works she has shown this year.

Meanwhile, Lee Ha Nee is filming her current project, MBC's Flowers that Bloom at Night.
