Lee Je Hoon's new K-drama Chief Inspector: The Beginning drops a trailer.

Chief Inspector: The Beginning is a prequel to Chief Inspector. It takes place in 1958 when Detective Park Young Han (Lee Je Hoon) was appointed to Seoul.

Set in an era of chaos, the drama tells the story of Detective Park Young Han, who specializes in catching petty thieves, joining forces with three colleagues to shatter the norms of corrupt authority.

The K-drama has retro vibes, evoking nostalgia for the late 19s era.

The trailer opens with Detective Park Young Han confidently introducing himself after arriving in Seoul. He boasts that he has the "Top Arrest Rate for Petty Thieves in Gyeonggi Province." His relentless pursuit of criminals through gambling dens, markets, and muddy streets portrays his passion for his work.

As the narrative unfolds in the tumultuous year 1958, the drama trailer shows that investigations in Seoul in those days were far from easy. From murder cases to car explosions and showdowns with wrongdoers using guns and bare fists, Park Young Han and his comrades face moments of frustration, anger, and tears together.

Nevertheless, Park Young Han emphatically states, "There are only two things we need to remember. Protect the weak and beat the bad guys."

Taxi Driver actor Lee Je Hoon plays the young Park Young Han, the character originally played by Choi Bool Am in Chief Inspector. He is a detective who believes in retribution, is angry, and struggles against the harsh reality where human dignity is unabashedly trampled.

Lee Dong Hwi transforms into Kim Sang Soon, known as the "Crazy Dog" at the Jongnam Police Station. He is a detective who does things his way and is weary of a reality tainted by corruption. After meeting Park Young Han, his life takes a turning point.

Choi Woo Sung plays Cho Kyung Hwan, a young man with exceptional strength.  Additionally, Yoon Hyun Soo plays Seo Ho Jeong, who dreams of becoming an investigator.

Chief Inspector: The Beginning is scheduled to air sometime in 2024. Watch the trailer below
