I have been addicted to Asian television for a couple of years and worked my way through numerous Korean, Chinese and Taiwanese shows. I like humor, love, smart and strong female leads and smart and strong male leads. I recently got introduced to Lakorns. Lakorns are a much under-rated and under-appreciated drama form.
Several of the Lakorns have been good, but most like to take a violent man and a victimized woman and turn them into a happy couple. Nice concept (?) for televisioni, but it only takes a few such Lakorns and you're looking for something a little different.
In searching for new Lakorns (try Wikipedia for a list of them) I stumbled across "Cubic" and fell hard. The male and female leads are both smart and strong. Since I binge watch most of the Asian dramas, I find I usually skip entire episodes since the plot line is always so formulaic, I don't really miss much.
Not so with Cubic. I found myself wanting to watch every episode because the plot and character development was so well done the show was a joy to watch. Suspense, humor, love, and intelligence were woven into every episode. The female lead was very smart and a very strong character and they let her keep these qualities from beginning to end.
I would like to say 'thank you' to the person who sub-titled the episodes into English. There were additional comments added to some of the sub-titles that were funnier than what you were watching on screen. Look for the comments, they're worth it.
Thank you to everyone who created "Cubic". It was a joy to watch and I'll mark it as a favorite to watch again.
