SUMODO (2020). Finally got around to watching this one. It got mostly positive headlines -- I was surprised to see that the director was a TV producer for one of my favorite variety programs, MATSUKO NO SHIRANAI SEKAI. There's nothing particularly revealatory or instructional about SUMODO. In fact, I'm glad the movie doesn't devolve into "Sumo 101" explanations for dummies. It mostly focuses on several rikishi personalities and narratives from late 2018 to mid 2019. They really scored with Ryuden, a hiramaku rikishi with a very likable persona.

Sumo rankings can be completely different in a year's time so it's not surprising to see Ozeki Goeido also credited by his Oyakata name, having retired by the time the movie was released.
