Hi admin. Would like to understand how exactly the contribution system works.

For example, one common rejection is because someone else already submit before you. However, is this determined by first come first serve basis?

What about rejection points? Some edits are not allowed because we have too much rejection points. How is this calculated too?

Number of approved edits/ Number of rejected edits

 samenai:

Number of approved edits/ Number of rejected edits

so lets say some information is missing. at the point of submission, the new info is still not added in. however, after submitting, you receive a rejection because another person also happens to submit the same edit as you around the same time as you but their edit is approved. would this count towards your rejection edit?

Yes, but we are currently implementing a system to address this issue and prevent such rejections in the future.

The rejection points are calculated based on the ratio of approved edits to rejected edits. When a user falls below the 0.49 ratio, the system starts rejecting their submissions. Each submission has a 3-month expiration period. It's important to note that certain categories or sections, such as tags/genres, are not checked in the ratios.

so can i confirm that the current situation is, if two people submit the same info at almost the same time, only the first one received will count towards approved edits points while the other person who is slightly slower will get a rejection edit points (even though he submitted the correct info, but is just slower)

That is correct. With our current system, if two people submit the same information at almost the same time, only the first submission received will count towards approved edit points, while the slightly slower submission will receive rejection edit points, even if it contains correct information. This is due to the first-come-first-serve basis. However, if the submissions are slightly different or include extra information, both may get approved for the additional info and points. Please note that we are working on changing this in the new system.

Thank you. hopefully the new system would give some credit to the slower people too.
