In 1988, when Taiwan film industry began its downfall trajectory, Lee was invited to work in Hong Kong film industry. He had worked for Hui Ann’s “My American Grandson,”(1990) “Summer Snow,”(1994) winner of the Best Cinematography Award at Taipei Golden Horse Film Awards, and “Eighteen Springs.”(1997).
His work with Wong Kar Wai in “In the Mood for Love”had won him the Prix du Jury a Un Technicien at the Canne Festival, as well as Best Cinematography Awards in the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and the Asia-Pacific Film Festival.
