Xie was a popular director amongst the older generations of Chinese, with six of his films being voted Best Picture in the Hundred Flowers Awards. Xie Jin,one of the most prominent film directors in China, passed away at his hometown Shangyu in East China´s Zhejiang Province. His sudden death has shocked the country. Xie Jin´s films influenced an entire generation in the later half of the 20th century.Xie Jin directed 36 films in his career which won him numerous awards both at home and abroad.
