SOTUS VIBES BUT NOT QUITE: COMPLEX AND REALISTIC

I always like starting my reviews by saying that when a series has a complex/problematic plot, then it is not meant to be for everyone. And this GL is one of those stories. If you do not like series with a bunch of misunderstandings, a lot of problems, or other similar things, then I do NOT recommend you to watch this. This series deals with a lot of misunderstandings and problems in a relationship, and I feel like they have done a GREAT JOB at keeping it REALISTIC. There is so many couples out there that go through similar problems like in this series, and it's good for those problems to be portrayed in series so that people don't feel alone and feel related to them. While others can take this series as a lesson to keep in mind of things they should avoid in their relationship, and to always be aware. I also think this series did a good job in portraying immature young college students who have problems in their love life, and how they can fix those things together with COMMUNICATION and TRUST. Those two things were missing in the first couple's relationship. And I think now that they have their happy ending, they will be able to fix things and not make the same mistakes from the past. Relationships are NOT perfect, and I like that they tried to portray that in this series.

STORY:
I am going to be completely honest right now. Stories like these are not always my favorite to watch. However, just because the plot is complicated and problematic, it does not mean it is a bad story. After finishing the series, I can say that I enjoyed it despite of the ups and downs it had. Like I mentioned above, I like how realistic this story is. It is about a young couple who is dealing with problems in their relationship. And through those problems, they learn and grow together. That is what I love about the story. It also has a happy ending, which makes it even better cause at some point in the story, you kind of loose hope, but then they give us the happy ending the main couple deserves. Overall, I would give the story 7 out of 10 just because it is not my cup of tea, but it is still enjoyable to watch.

ACTING/CASTING:
I love the cast, and I love watching edits of them on tiktok! I think you can easily get attached to them as you watch the series more and more. They acted very well despite of their complicated roles, but I also believe there is still a lot of space to improve. Every character here is attractive despite of their flaws, and they will make you fall in love eventually. The chemistry is on point as well! I love it! my favorite couple was the second one though! I don't know why I always end up liking second couples more lol. But anyways, I will give the acting and casting an 8 out of 10.

MUSIC/REWATCH VALUE:
The music was okay. I do see myself listening to the intro again, but it is not my favorite. So, I will give it a 7.5 out of 10. And the rewatch value will be a 7.5 out of 10 too because I do see myself rewatching this eventually (if I miss it too much lmao!).

Anyways, my overall rating for this GL series is 8 out of 10. I think it deserves it. I like how this series brought me back to those days when I watched SOTUS the series (BL). Those days were memorable. And even though they are not the same, I still love them equally. Please do NOT drop this without at least giving it a chance. Try to watch it with the perspective that you will learn something from it. At least, that's how I see it. But do not feel forced! Thank you for reading!

A few words that describes this story: Breathtaking, Mind-blowing, Plot-twist, and Psychological.

STORY:
I think the title of this review says it all. This story is a Rollercoaster, so please make sure to wear your seat belt before you start the ride. I really enjoy historical and psychological movie, so I knew that I was going to enjoy the story from the start. It starts a bit slow, but it gets more and more interesting the more you watch. So, please don't drop it because of that! Give it a chance! I believe is worth it. The cinematography is beautiful. It is expected since it is a historical genre, and most of those have good cinematography. That is why I'm fond of them. You will see a lot of plot-twists in this story, so please do pay close attention and do NOT skip anything or else you will be left very confused. The plot-twists are mind-blowing to me cause I was not expecting them at all lol. It is also psychological, so do expect to see things that can be triggering, like blood, violence, sexual harassment, manipulation, and other similar things. Also, do keep in mind that this has mature content and that you will see bed scenes. I'm just warning you all ahead so that it's not too shocking lol. Anyways, the story is a bit slow, but it feels just right at the same time. And it has a happy ending! Yay! Overall, I will give the plot 8 out of 10.

CONS:
Some things I personally didn't like about the movie is how disgusting the men were, and how the mature themes were portrayed. I mean, let's be real, there are many many many men out there that are like that and it's not just fiction. This is reality. I'm not saying all men are like this of course, but let's say that a big percentage is, so this is not something unusual or rare, but it's still unlikable to me and disgusting to watch. Of course, that doesn't make it a bad movie though. As for the mature themes, what I didn't like about them is that it felt a bit unrealistic. They portrayed lesbian love scenes in a way that it felt like it was meant to be for the male view and not for the audience as a whole. It was a bit unpleasant, but not too bad to the point that you will hate it. I just think that they could have done it a bit more romantic, instead of it just being sex. This is just my personal opinion, of course. Since this is a lesbian story, the production team should have made it more romantic to portray the love between the two girls better.

ACTING / CASTING:
The casting is perfect for me. The two female leads are very beautiful and I love the chemistry between them. The acting is also amazing. They portrayed every emotion well, to the point that I even cried twice lol. The cast and acting was great, so I will give it a 9 out of 10.

MUSIC / REWATCH VALUE:
The music and soundtrack of this movie is a masterpiece. I mean, what else can I say? It is a historical movie, so it is expected to be this good. I really love it. I even found a Playlist on YouTube with the soundtracks and I couldn't help but to listen to it again because of how beautiful it is. Definitely a 8.5 out of 10 for the music. As for the rewatch value, I will give it a 7.5 out of 10. This is actually my second time watching this movie. The reason why I did it is because the first time I skipped a lot of scenes because it was slow. But after rewatching it for the second time (without skipping anything), I regret doing that. It is not worth to skip anything! If you do, you will miss out a lot of the plot. So, don't do the same mistake I did, please! I would rewatch this again to be honest, but at the same time, I believe that watching it once or twice is enough, unless you miss the story too much, haha!

Overall, I really enjoyed it. It is definitely worth to watch. I recommend it. It is a 8.5 out of 10 for me. If I'm not wrong, this movie has been dubbed in different languages too. I saw an English and a Spanish Dub. So, if you are not a big fan of reading subtitles (Not me lol!), then you can try watching the dubs that are available. Thank you for reading! <3

Complex plot with many flaws but worth to watch!

PLOT:
I want to start off by saying that this GL might not be the cup of tea for many. It has a complicated plot with content that is controversial, and might not be enjoyable for some viewers, like cheating, slight harassment, and misunderstandings. However, this does not necessarily make it a bad story. This is what actually makes it interesting and develops it. And I do not mean "interesting" in a way to justify any wrong actions that take place, but in a way that these "actions" actually happen in real life and that makes the story more realistic with its flaws. It's not all perfect and that is why I enjoyed it. With a plot like this, you can not expect it to be all flowers and rainbows. This is more than just that. So, if you want to watch this series, or have already watched it, just keep in mind that these events do happen in real life and sometimes it's good for them to be in series too to make it more realistic and for people to feel related to it and not feel alone.

CONS:
One thing I didn't like about the plot at all is that there were a lot of extra scenes that made it a bit boring sometimes. By "extra scenes", I mean scenes that didn't contribute to the story much, and that felt unnecessary. Most of these scenes involved the side characters and it has nothing to do with the main leads, so, it's not too bad.

ENDING:
The ending is a bit open, but it also makes us wonder what will happen next. The production chose that type of ending were it leaves the audience thinking and imagining their own ending, if that makes any sense. To me is a happy ending though, cause the two girls do seem to end up together. Personally, I believe the plot is good, is not my favorite, but is good. I rate it 7.5 out of 10.

ACTING / CASTING / CHEMISTRY:
Anyways, let's talk about the acting and casting. Since the moment the main leads got introduce in the series, I was mesmerized by them! They have good visuals and are so freaking attractive! I couldn't help but to fangirl from time to time. The chemistry is on point and I love how their relationship went from lovers to enemies and from enemies to lovers. I also enjoyed the slow burn, and how it was not too explicit. Don't get me wrong, I love mature content in GL, but I believe that with a complex plot like this, it's better to keep things sweet and subtle. I really love how their relationship developed, and how the child in the story brought the two girls back together. As for the acting, well, for me it was very good! Especially in the crying scenes, you can feel their emotions. I love it. I rate the cast and acting 9 out of 10.

MUSIC / REWATCH VALUE:
I don't have much to say about the music. I mean, it does not stand out to me, but it is not bad either. It is nice like most Japanese songs I have heard in BLs and GLs. So, 7 out of 10. As for rewatch value, well, I do see myself rewatching this again cause I enjoyed it. So, for rewatch value a 8 out of 10.

Overall, I give it a 8 out of 10. I would definitely recommend this. Like I said, it might not be enjoyable for some because of how complicated that plot is, but that does not make it bad. I would not judge this for how many flaws it has since it has a lot. I would just enjoy it for what it is and accept that the things that happened are realistic, that makes it more likeable. My suggestion to those who have not watched it yet is to have low expectations just in case cause you won't find a "perfect" plot here, and have an open mind. Just give it a try! Not perfect but it is definitely a MUST watch!

GAP the series is the first official Thai GL series that came out, and to be honest, I really enjoyed it. I'm making this review a little late, so I do not remember every single detail of the series. However, from the beginning to the end of the story, I have been captivated by the cinematography of the series. Even though it is not a high budget series, it had really good settings and angles that made it so beautiful. As soon as you start watching the series, you will get into it immediately. Or at least, that's how it felt for me. Maybe it was the hype I had for it, or perhaps it was because of the main leads Freen and Becky that are so freaking attractive! They both have such an amazing chemistry from the beginning to the end. They didn't fail to impress me.

Although there are a few drawbacks that I didn't like, for example: 1) Too many extra scenes that were not necessary and that didn't contribute to the story. And 2) scenes that didn't make any sense at all like "the lions on the TV scene" (I will not say anymore cause I'm sure you guys know what I am talking about lol). Anyways, besides that, I believe that the series did really well. The story as a whole was good, but not perfect of course. But since this was the first Thai GL series ever, I will let it pass and put my pickiness aside.

The acting was chef's kiss for me. Although there is a lot of space to improve, but for their first main lead series, Becky and Freen did an amazing job. The music was super cute, fluffy, and girly. I love it. It brought me back to those days when I was younger and enjoyed watching shows with girls being girly pops. I love it! I would definitely rewatch this series another time. I have already watched it twice. I would definitely do it more! Overall, this series gets a 8.5 out of 10 for me.
