Unexpectedly sweet, cute and fun!

My my, I wasn't expecting anything from this Jdrama. It was more a last-minute decision to watch it and boy, I almost missed a GEM.

I thought this drama would be about SM or kin stuff and I'll have to drop it and never come back, but what I discovered instead was well balanced humor, the creepiest yet cutest male lead and the craziest, more honest female lead ever!

Mark my word: this isn't a show you'll ever see elsewhere. It's unique, quirky, fun to watch, although the ending might seem lackluster for some (for myself too, but only because I'm greedy and wanted more haha).

It's a light romance comedy, and it does the job in a wonderful and efficient manner, and there isn't better to cheer you up than these types of dramas.

A story about romance which isn't about romance.

I was quite excited to watch this short story because of the man actress, but while I expected romance, I got way more?

The story is quite simple: manager Bang receive anonymous love letters, and thinks the sender might be one of her colleagues at work.
Quickly, there's a lot of potential suspects, and even though the story might seem predictable at some points, what can I say except "wow"?

If you're looking for romance, this might be the story for you. But not exactly for the reasons you might think about: the female lead doesn't end with anyone... Or really?

I thought I was in for a classical age gap romance, or even an office romance, but what I felt after finishing that story is so much more than just being happy with the flow of the story.

It's the kind of stories where the female leads cruelly lacks of self esteem, and if yourself you're in that situation, the special episode might cheer you up and raises your own self esteem. At least, that's what I felt at the end of the story. Although the romance part ended on a bitter note, the female lead regained trust in herself, thus growing for the long term, and eventually being open-minded for the true romance to come.

It's not something you might want to re-watch, but it's certainly a great one in a while watch to cheer you up, and make you realize that sometimes, you just have to put more trust and onfidence in yourself for good things to happen...

BIG CITY HUNTER VIBES.

What I noticed first and foremost while watching this drama was the strong likeliness to Tsukasa Hojo's City Hunter.

The main character is a baddie with a soft heart working as an outlaw, weak with girls, children and old people, who ends up helping the FL out of a pinch. Just like Saeba Ryo.

We also get a nice and intriguing back story for the FL (just like Makimura Kaori).

Add to the mix some action /fighting scenes, humor and puns, banter, a slight romance, plus a support cast, and you get the perfect mix!

Some might find the FL annoying because of her values, but remember that imperfect characters are the best, because that leave place for them to grow.

As for the core mechanism used by the hero (threatening people, yes, that's the spoiler you're looking for, but wasn't sure it was one since it's mentioned in the title tbh) it was quite surprising and unusual, but nonetheless really fun!

A really fun ride from beginning to the end, and if you loved it, go watch Tantei ga Hayasugiru. It's also really fun in it's own way!

The FRIENDZONE is strong with this one.

Like, seriously. Majide yabai.

It's a story which starts strongly as a perpetual FRIENDZONE for the FL (when it's not a Strangerzone), and you might think it's not worth watching because of that.

Yet, I couldn't hell but feel compelled watching the evolution of each character, simply because the story showed how it would really be when people tend not to share what they feel.

It's a story about how love can be born between two people, married or not, but more than anything, it's a story about expressing your feelings and learning to know the other one. It's also about learning to interact with others, and know yourself a bit more.
That, and the ending, were what I really liked.

So if the first episodes are a bit repetitive in their format (FL or ML does stuff, and the ending step is still the friendzone) hang in there, because the portrayal of the characters and the misunderstandings aren't here merely for comedy, but also to punch you in the feels and the face and make you learn yourself some stuff you didn't think about before watching the show.
