Delightful, heartwarming family drama!
Rare find of a well produced, beautifully portrayed kdrama that spans three generations! The story evolves around the people in a tiny township and how they come together to make a profit by consolidating their land and their lives. The drama touches many aspects, situations and issues that each and everyone can relate to in terms of divorce, adoption, misunderstandings, generation gap, city & country living. The well cast young actors are brillant! Byung-do outshined the group and wise grandpa held the reins mediating work and family issues.I am surprised with the low viewage. This is a really great drama for the whole family!

Another beautiful, poignant love story!
Just finished the last episode with lots of tissue moments. I would place this kdrama love story with my top favorite cdrama, a love so beautiful. Though in different time zones it shows that true LOVE will always prevail! Great script, outstanding cast, good editing for this well written love story without too many irritating sub plots. This is one of those dramas that switch you back and forth through time, so thankful for the clear translation. Young adults watching should heed the wise and comforting words of Saimdang to her children. Beautiful FL was perfect as the strong, unruffled, patient and kind noblewoman. Handsome and dashing ML kept me watching. Gorgeous Joseon paintings and memorable poetry is the basis for this story and sadly one poem and jealousy cheated the childhood lovers to a life of aching love. 28 episodes to keep you enthralled!Was this review helpful to you?
A beautiful surprise!
Almost passed off this kdrama because of the unfair reviews and cheezy 1st episode! Both main leads and the short 16 episodes kept me watching and it became an addictive love story that I had to finish within 2 waking days! A simple modern day love story, complicated when it happens between a human and a Water God who's destined to be King in the Divine realm. The sweet chemistry of the pretty FL and the handsome ML with sprinkles of quirkiness, fun & tissue moments made this enduring, romantic fantasy story almost believable and entertaining. A refreshing story without the all to popular revenge and idiotic gibberish. After watching 3 long historical dramas this was a delightful eyewash!Was this review helpful to you?
Cool little Emperor!
Outstanding cast! Wonderful script! Great director! Beautiful costumes and sets! Finally a costume drama without the tiresome palace jealousy, misunderstandings, long winded conversations, wasting episodes on a singular issue and over the top tea & wine drinking! No pinky promises and startled kisses (my main peeves!).The Chemistry between the ML & FL was lovingly, naturally portrayed. This is a well produced, addictive, exciting romdrama that flowed easily with editing done right! Awesome martial art scenes! Watch it, you won't be disappointed!

Outstanding!
Normally dislike flashbacks and going back in time dramas but this was a well written, believable story. Love 16 episode dramas that don't try to extend the story with too many plots, sub plots and lengthy, wasted dialogue! Current medical and old oriental medical practices was well depicted, entwined with bouts of slapstick comedy and heart wrenching tragedies. Actors well casted, ML and FL had great chemistry! The interesting storyline flowed well and kept me anxious for the ending! Not spoilers but be cautious of several scenes of almost realistic operations and acupuncture! After watching several vengeful, silly, jealousy gone wild with loud non-stop argumentative dramas, this was very refreshing !!!Was this review helpful to you?
Sweet, short and simple drama
Initial view, the fabulous costumes of the Qing dynasty! A short drama that fits nicely between long episodes of dramatic, mind boggling yet addictive dramas! Being new to Asian TV dramas with questionable subtitles, it takes awhile to recognise the different characters and palace titles. With jagged flashbacks, this too simple story without the usual palace intrigue, jealousy plots, eavesdropping, gossips, overload of tea drinking and wine consumption makes it refreshing! Not familiar with any of the actors I do think they were well cast. The writer could have expanded the story with more scenes of delicious palace cuisine and added a subplot but then it would not be a short story.Was this review helpful to you?
Love, love, love this drama!
This is my highest rating ever for a drama I've watched 3 times! Casting did an awesome job selecting actors for the respective roles. Shen Yue never disappoints, cute & adorable naturally! Cool Hu Yitian was perfect for his role! Love the everyday school drama and the romantic storyline that brings back fun days in my academic years! Drama girl did an outstanding short version on youtube of this drama that I watch everytime to refresh after watching a stupid, boring drama!Why do I have to write 500 characters? Don't want to give the story away!

Lost in speedy translation.....
I like wuxia dramas but this is about the most confusing & frustrating drama ever! To start the main actors are not familiar, they look like kids! There's no love chemistry between the main leads (maybe later). Why does the FL always look angry? Other then saving the ML several times, at what point did they fall in love and became a couple or was it one-sided? Then there's the annoying array of clans, sects, towns, demons, pavilions, martial art forms, three word names and connected relationships! I gave it a try and abandoned viewage mid-11th episode! The subtitles didn't help but added more frustration when it disappeared quickly before you can finish reading it!!!Was this review helpful to you?
