I am not a fan of medical dramas. I am not of fan of Japanese dramas. Today a new dimension has been opened for me. I just realised what i am missing out on. Today i have come to realise Japanese dramas can just be as good all other the dramas i watch. Its just a combination of a good plot, excellent cast, beautiful ost and the result a perfect little 10.5 episode drama i wanted to binge again the moment i watched the last episode.
This is the perfect Japanese drama i have ever watched. Now i am not sure if there's any good stuff out there.
Scale of 1 to 10...10.5
Rewatch value.....perfect score
I highly recommend this for someone looking for something sweet and fluffy. Thank me later.

I know most people will call me crazy for not raving about this drama. I will not take away anything from the cast especially our dashing male lead D.O a.k.a Won Deuk/crown prince Yul. It is the cast that made me want to come back (specifically Won Deuk) and watch this drama with their epic one liners.
The acting was superb. From the small characters in Songjoo village to v.p Kim to the King himself. They made this drama what it is.
The plot itself for me it was an okayish story. Not that captivating. The story did not stimulate me or make me want or eager to find out more and neither did it trigger my curiosity. I was like okay okay okay the entire drama. There was never a cliff hanger that would get me to the edge of my seat or make me smile in the midst of my tears. There were no tears to begin with and no huge grin plastered on my face.
I tried reading the comments on discus to find out what the hype was all about.
In my opinion it was just fangirls fangirling on D.O that's all. His acting was superb so yeah it did deserve the fangirling.
In my opinion if you are considering watching this for the story then you will be disappointed. If you are considering watching this because you are a fan of EXO and D.O to be specific then yes you will be blown off your feet....that boy can act.
If you are looking to watch this because you are bored and you have nothing else to watch then...best advice look elesewhere.
These are my opinions you are free to agree or to disagree with me.

Ashes of annoyance(if you ask me)

This story is your epic example of greed and revenge. Its a story entirely based on the actions of a self serving emperor and an evil calculating woman who was not loved by her husband.
Up until now i am still wondeing why most people kept on referring and comparing this story to ten miles of peach blossoms. The plots are completely unrelated and so different. The only minute similarity is both stories are fantasy stories and have a handful of realms only.
Now if you are looking for something thought provoking, refreshing and a bit different from the usual stories and typical drama logic then you might enjoy this.
I am however compelled to mention one downside to this drama. THE FEMALE LEAD was super annoying. Yes her character was pathetic throughout the drama but it does not end with the character alone. The female lead's acting leaves a lot to be desired. Her character was poorly written and developed through out the whole drama. Yes in the beginning i thought that is how it was meant to be but after major transformation i expectected her character to change and have a bit more depth but it remained shallow and underdeveloped. So if you can move past this hurdle then you might enjoy this drama indeed. To me she was a constant bother till i decided to focus entirely on the two brothers.

It is everything about her that made me give this drama a low rating. No matter how good the plot is or the acting of the rest of the cast is if one of the leads is a doofus be it character wise or the acting itself then it will bring the entire project down. This is how it was for me. If you can move past her then good for you you will enjoy the drama more.

YES i am a Mew/Gulf shipper even in real life but putting my bias aside, this is definitely a must watch if you are a BL lover. A few things were left unresolved and this special resolves all of them and i am glad there is going to be season 2. I just hope it does not leave a bitter taste in my mouth like what sotus s did...but who cares. I would still watch it and drool over my ship.
Now down to the review. I don't even know what to say. I can only say BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO. On a scale of 1 to 10 ummmm its off the charts. Rewatch value...are you effing kidding me i can watch this all day with stupid grin plastered on my face. These 2 are the best BL couples i have ever watched.
Trust me you won't regret it.

It going to be so hard to write this review without spoiling this drama for anyone. Fear not i will not spoil this masterpiece for you.
This is So Ji Sub.....its So Ji Sub playing Kim Bon a.k.a Terius. What do you expect? If you have watched kdramas long enough you know this household name. If you are a rookie fear not, i am here to guide you.
Before i write anything i will start by kneeling down and bowing giving my heartfelt thanks to the drama gods for gracing us with such a gift. I personally have taken a back seat when it comes to kdramas. I just dont watch anything and i pick selectively. I picked this drama for 2 reasons and 2 reasons only because it has So Ji Sub and its So Ji Sub. Yep i am that crazy about his dramas and acting. He is so good, so good to the extend that he is reason why i am here.
Now enough raving about Ji sub now back to the drama. I have not watched a drama that leaves me hanging after every episode in a long time. A drama that makes you think and think again who could possibly be the bad guy. I came up with 1 but thought otherwise and changed again and changed again and again.
I am not a fan of crime dramas. I dislike those but i have watched a few exceptions and and this drama is one GREAT EXCEPTION. It will leave you at the edge of your seat and trust me this is not a drama you would watch sitting still. It is that great. I especially loved how they mixed the serious stuff with the cute fluffy stuff that will leave you swooning. You are drooling and swooning this second and the next guns are blazing, someone is being betrayed and the next second you are laughing your head off and next you are hit with a plot twist that will leave you scratching your head wondering what just hit you. It has so many sweet and hilarious moments and a fair share of heart wrenching moments as well.
Unfortunately if you are looking for romance then dont even start watching because you will be disappointed. They kept romance at bay but the plot is still perfect.
If you are looking for gun fights, schemes, espionage, betrayal, tons of comic relief in between then this is the perfect place.
I cannot stop recommending this drama. Everything about is perfect and it deserves a full score 10/10.
Everything is just perfect. I am fighting so hard not to get into the story so i will end here.
IF YOU ARE STILL UNDECIDED AFTER READING THIS THEN JUST TAKE A LEAP OF FAITH. You will thank me later

NOT A SEQUEL TO TMOPB.....BUT A MUST WATCH REGARDLESS

I don't have the patience to review a drama unless its absolutely necessary. Its either that drama belongs in the shit house or its a must watch.
I waited 3 years for this and i am glad to say it was worth my wait. For someone to really appreciate this gem and why i waited so long i encourage you to go and watch ten miles of peach blossoms (TMOPB) if you haven't already. First get this clear this drama is NOT a sequel to TMOPB. They are related yes, but with ELOD you will not get a continuation of Bai Feng Jiu (BFJ) and Dong Hua Dijun (DHD)'s love story from TMOPB and neither will you get a continuation of YeHua and Bai Qian's story (BQ cameos only as Bai Qian and thats all and no YeHua/MoYuan). The characters are the same yes BUT its a different story. This story ventures into the love of our two protagonists BFJ and DHD. You can watch it before TMOPB and understand the gist of things fairly easily. I deliberately mentioned TMOPB because i was too heartbroken by how those 2 ended and like many other fans shipped those two so ELOD is a story dedicated to those two and those two alone.
Like i already highlighted i will not spoil the drama its too good to have someone spoil it for you. Another piece of advice the drama is adapted from the book with that same title and the screenwriters did a fantastic job adapting this book. However, they made little changes to the story in the book and in my opinion those little changes did create quite a sizeable loss in terms of the emotions one feels reading the book. The changes didn't affect the overall story and can be ignored. So my advice is if you enjoy reading, read the book first then watch the drama you will thank me later. If you don't have the time or patience then jump right in. You will still love the story.

Okay enough about the storyline. Now to the cast. I gave this drama a 9.5 because of 1 bad apple only. Thankfully that one apple did not spoil the whole basket neither did it take anything away from the drama. This apple happens to be lady who played the role of JiHeng. One expression from the beginning of the drama up to the very last episode. She was just so plain and so pathetic merely narrating lines.
Apart from her the acting was superb. I fell in love with Yan Chiwu and his immaturity from episode 1 to 56. And that walk ????. Nie Chuyun ??.

To wrap this up THIS IS A MUST WATCH. A 10/10 for me. Definitely worth your while if you are into wuxia, costume, fantasy dramas and if you watched TMOPB (our ship finally sailed ?)
This story will melt your heart.
Am i going to rewatch this again? YES DEFINITELY.

Don't be quick to judge. Hear me out.

Okay i will be very honest and review this drama the best i can. To me it was a balanced show. Why i chose the word balance and yet gave it a perfect score allow me to explain. There was so much going on, so much that half the time i was lost wondering what on earth did i just watch, what the hell just happened and who is with who.
The story was overrally poorly written and poorly developed and some of the characters were so shallow and just added more chaos to the whole story.
This drama is mainly based on 2 couples. I will dare to say kudos to the writer and director. I am i contradicting myself and again hear me out. I will start with TorFighter. If you allow me to separate the storyline and rate it separately i gave their parts full marks. Their characters were so well written and developed that i could actually pace with them as their relationship developed from sexual tension filled animosity to heartfelt confessions of longing and love. It felt so real and the tension was palatable from the spiteful glares and body language to the passionate kisses and hard on seduction. I could see the conflict and doubt tormenting these two, the depth of their love and how they got to be were they were. I finished this drama because of these 2 and at the same time i was trying to make sense of everything else going on. Their acting is next level. Their physical and emotional chemistry oozed off my screen. I dont want this review to turn into an erotica so i will end here.
Now coming to SaifahZon. Well..... i am not very sure what to say honestly. I am not sure is it the script or the directing or the acting itself, the chemistry or a lack of it. Be the judge. What i do know is there were sweet moments and i will be like awww and there were moments i would just cringe and cringe some more.
The other gay side couple? I don't even know what to say because i don't know what i watched i don't know who was with who? Who was with Blue?
At times it was so hard to try and keep up with what was going on especially in Zon's gang. At times everything was utter chaos and i would struggle to make sense of what just happened. Many scenes left me baffled but one in particular left me picking up my jaw from the ground. How can one's feelings miraculously and instantly be switched from one guy to the next esp when they took their time to show us the beginning of the relationship and its challenges. I mean crying about this guy who just broke your heart on this other guy's shoulder and contemplating means and ways to make him take you back then the very next second BOOOOM. I was like wtf....

Okay to sum up this gibberish i will say this show is must watch. If you thought TharnType were the holy grail in BL drama then you might want to see TorFighter and think again. Disregard all the noise and chaos around and focus on Tor and Fighter, thats were the show is, that's were my 10 for the review is. Yes covid 19 restrictions made things difficult but i still believe the side stories were poorly written and developed and it has nothing to do with covid19.
Would i rewatch this? Oh yes definitely i would.
I know this review is all over the place, contradicting and confusing this is how the show made me feel....confused and in love.
I will come back with my last review ep 13.
PS...
I just finished watching the last episode. I have basically said all i need to say and there isn'tanything left. Like i said before its a bit far fetched to blame covid 19. I will say ep 13 was pure fan service. This drama could have ended at 12 episodes.
I will give them a benefit of doubt and assume covid-19 restricted them from wrapping up the story nicely but still say the story had great potential but was poorly executed. The 1st 2 episodes were hilarious the concept was funny and refreshing but soon went downhill.
With or without restrictions i wasn't expecting much any way.

First of all i don't know why my drama list said 15 episodes. This drama has 40 episodes packed with humor and such sweet sweet scenes that can literally melt your heart. The CHEMISTRY...oh my word. I don't think I have seen a drama with this much chemistry in my entire drama life and here i was thinking i have seen it all ??‍♀️. I started Thai dramas with BL and i was now accostomed to the skin ship. This drama has little to almost non-existent skin ship but oh boy oh boy you can never prepare yourself for all the sweet cheesy moments. The eyeing and the smiles..i thought I was going to get nose bleeds. Those golden moments the main couple gets 'cozy' will leave little to the imagination. I don't think its just me who almost got knocked up just watching Khun P steal glances at Mae Ying.
Okay enough about the gibberish now i will write a proper review for this gem.
I gave this drama 10s for everything because it had me crying and laughing all at once and its just perfect. The actors from the main cast to the supporting cast, all of them played their roles to a T. I loved all of them but special mention to Nang Prik. I just laughed typing her name. She was consistent from the 1st to the last episode giving me laughter till my side hurt be it she is being super mean and annoying or super nice. She was always on the extreme side just over the top. She is too extra ??. If it were another drama she is that one character i would find annoying and the actress i would say over acting. In this instance i found her hilarious. All the bickering back and forth Mae Jumpae and Mae Karakadae and just about everyone else was hilarious.I will not even start with the goofy and eccentric Mae Ying Karakadae or Mae Jumpae.
The visuals were not that great. I mean they could have done a bit more on the special effects but that didn't bother me at all. In all honesty I can not pick a single thing i didn't like about this. This was one of the most beautiful stories i have ever come across and its so well well written and well executed.
I am a fan of historical fantasy and this drama fed my insatiable appetite. The costumes......speechless.
In conclusion If you are looking for something light and could do with a lot of tears then this is the drama to watch. It made my isolation from covid 19 a breeze and i didn't want to leave my couch. This is a MUST WATCH.
Words of warning though...be careful ep 40 will give you diabetes.
Best drama i have watched in a while. Out of 100, i will give it a 101. Simply perfect.

I don't know were to start honestly. When i first heard about this project i didn't know what to expect. As far as i know this is the first korean BL drama and its not showing on korean mainstream media (i stand to be corrected). I wasn't expecting much to begin with but its better than i initially expected though there is nothing new about the story. Its your typical day to day kdrama cliches more like copy paste. Only difference is this time its rich boy poor boy in a forbidden romance so that makes the story a bit more special, that coming from a Y drama lover not a hetero drama lover 5555
For a start they didn't place the wrong foot forward. They are in the right direction and I hope we will see more productions in the near future. The episodes are very short not that i am complaining but i still wish they added a minute more. I am being a bit greedy 5555.
I gave it an 8 because of 2 reasons. 1 its still ongoing and it can go south in the remaining 2 episodes and also its my first k bl.
Is it worth it...YES. If you are into kdrama and Y drama this drama will give you both worlds. It has your typical eye candy which we have come to associate with kdramas and the boys are doing a good job. I recommend.

This is my personal opinion and review of this drama. Feel free to share your opinion and views with me. I would love to know what other views thought of this drama.
First of all i want to dwell on Wang Duo as the prince/young master/Gong Zi.
This is my 1st time watching his craft and oh boy oh boy was i blown off my feet. I loved, absolutely adored his acting. All his tumultuous heartfelt actions and thoughts were all displayed by his facial expressions. This guy literally left my jaw sweeping the ground. I loved him to bits.

I found this story very refreshing and it provoked my imagination and let it run out of control. The locations i mean Gong Zi's bamboo manor left me in awe. His laid back attire, his lazy postures, the way he carried and conducted himself in his manor i must say it was all befitting of his character, looks and that manor itself.
I loved the new feel to the story. If there are other dramas done with a similar storyline and locations then i probably missed it and this is my 1st drama. I enjoyed it so much. It was full of twists, turns and surprises along the way. I did muddle headed quite a lot along the way and that was the magic of the drama. It constantly kept me up on my toes paying close attention to all going ons and all the suttle emotions and gestures. This got to be one of the best dramas i watched in 2018. A true hidden germ.
As much as i loved almost everything about this drama i hated how the female lead kept on going back and forth. I hated her indecisiveness. It was kinda hard to figure out if she was an assassin or a spineless wimp. That is how the writers intended her character to be. She played her role well and she was such a bore and a wet blanket to the story.
As for the main villain Cha Luo i hated her cruelty and wickedness and i fell in love with the actress playing her role.
I can go on and on mention each and every character but this review will be too long.

So if you are looking for something refreshing, something new, something out of the norm then this drama is the perfect catch. I found everything refreshing. Even the locations, customes, hair and make up. They went a little out of their way with the hair and make up esp with Gong Zi and that pathetic emperor.
This is a must watch.

3 episodes. Only 3 episodes. It took only 3 episodes for me to rate and review this drama. No wonder its currently on the top spot in South Korea. This is a mature drama for a mature audience and mature audience only. This not for those looking for a handsome oppa or looking for a latest crash. This is a drama addressing real life issues and challenges in matrimony. This drama focuses on infidelity and divorce and these are very deep and heavy subjects.
If you want a wake up call and face reality away from all the drool and ogling then this the drama to watch. If you are looking for eye candy i suggest you look for Lee Min Ho 's current drama. I bet there is a lot of eye candy there.
So if you are into mature real life drama then grab a box of tissues and a tub of ice cream. I think my heart stopped numerous times watching just these 3 episodes and i know there is more heartbreak in store for me.
I will be updating this post as my binge watch progresses. I will not start a new review all together.
Enjoy...oops better i say watch your heart and remember to pick up your jaw from the ground. These 3 episodes had my jaw locked in open position.

I am not sure if i qualify to review this drama. I made the classic mistake and i can't revert back and watch this with an open mind. A friend recommended this and said its a must watch so i jumped in. Unfortunately for me this drama failed to retain my interest after 2 episodes so i skipped from ep 2 to 4 then pushed myself from 4 to 7. I found myself losing focus in between ep 4 to 7 smh. Next i skipped to the comments and reviews. All the reviews i read were praising how great the drama is and how draggy it gets in the 2nd arc. I kept on reading the spoilers till i basically found no reason to watch ep 7 to 18 so i just jumped to 19.
I think i just missed on a great love story here. In fact i know i missed a great drama but now i can't help it. Maybe i will come back later and try watching it again. Basing from the synopsis its a great story. From the comments and reviews its a great drama. Don't fall in the same trap i did and read too many reviews with spoilers.
They did say its a good one though. Oh well good luck with the story. I will write another review the day i watch all of it.

Okay so i am one of those few who totally enjoyed the first season. I thought the drama was so sweet and so fluffy. I had to take a short break and make a quick recap and watched the last episode of season 1 to jolt my memory. If you have not watched season 1 then i urge you to or else the drama won't make sense , well at least the 1st 2 episodes i have watched won't.
If you are going to watch season 1 then dont let how 'green' the cast is affect you. The faces are new (at least to me they were) and they kept on making mistakes and you could easily tell they have forgotten their lines or their gestures were too un-natural and exaggerated . Dont let it bother you.

Now back to season 2. I love how the drama is progressing. Who would have thought we would have 2 Mo Lian Chengs by the end of the episode 2. The 1st one looks like he is the past Cheng cheng before meeting our beauty. He comes up sitting with a pain he does not comprehend in his chest. I panicked there because that was a sign he does not recall going to the future and also meeting Tan'er otherwise he would not have been that calm. The 2nd one wakes up in modern clothing in Donghe again i assumed. Its going to be interesting and confusing and interesting again.
Now our beauty Qu Xiaotan wakes up in Donghe and she is the modern one with no recollection of the past in Donghe....i foresee a lot of comic relief when she approaches the prince in the hope that he will help him only to have him not recall her at all.

Seems like the writers did their homework well. I have a feeling its going to be a good one. I hope it proves my assumption wrong. Experience tells me 2nd seasons are a NO NO. I am yet to enjoy a season 2. A friend told me to watch ode to joy 1 and 2. She tells me its an exception to the season 2 rule. I hope this drama will be a 2nd exception. I have an inkling in my toes its going to be a good one. At least they retained the same cast. That alone gives me more hope.

Okay i know yaya-nadech shippers are going to kill me but i will still speak my mind. After the 1st ridiculous episode and the stupid gun fight scene at the end of the episode i convinced myself to watch episode 2. I convinced myself to watch episode 2 because I know their chemistry is always off the charts and i know i am missing out dropping this series. I know the onscreen chemistry between the leads can make or break a drama. It can only make a drama provided the story is solid and the directors at least have an idea of what they are doing.
What a waste of talent and the writing is so so. How does a fictitious country in Asia have a royal family with English names? Princess Mona, princess Kate, prince Alan, king Henry, princess Alice? I don't mean to sound racist or anything but its just not making sense to me. Its a fictitious country that trades with Thailand and speaks the same language with them. Couldn't they give some royal members traditional names? Its like watching Black Panther and the royal family in Wakanda has English names. I mean like having T'Challa named prince Harry and Okoye named Margaret. No offense but i just feel the writer could have put in a bit more effort to make the story a bit real.
How on earth did she teleport from the icy mountains to the palace? We last saw her shot in the back and drowning in the dark waters and next P'Win picks her up on shore and they start fighting. Excuse me...what happened to the gunshot wound on her back? We only see Win throwing medicine and saying attend to your wound else it will get infected. Helloooo, the gunshot is on her upper back so how on earth did she clean it up and disinfect it?
The gun fight in the first scene is well choreographed i must admit. Watching that scene i was like well well well not too shabby i can definitely watch this. After that everything went down hill. The scene with the attempted assassination in the snow my word... the gun fight scenes were so pathetic. I mean she was running down the stairs with one gunmen on her tail. Come on it was a straight staircase not a winding one and he didn't even fire a single shot only to be disarmed by the princess who simply stopped in her tracks and pom pom pom he is falling down dead. Like seriously!!!
Okay i will skip everything else inbetween and skip to the last gun fight scene on the beach. They were fighting in the open no obstacles no what and the leads were doing a peacock dance with bullets raining around them. It was just pathetic and sore to watch.
At least i managed to convince myself to watch the 2nd episode and 15 mins into the story i could not take it. I know i am missing out on great chemistry but i will not subject myself to any more torture watching this. I will watch their other dramas to make up for this.
This is a NO for me. I only gave a 5 for the acting/cast because i know they will do a great job and by they i mean Nadech and Yaya. I would say if you a shipper and watching this for the chemistry then yes go ahead. If you are want to just ogle and drool at Nadech then yes go ahead. He is handsome as always and Yaya beautiful as always. Too bad i didn't stick around to see them get together. Buut if you are looking for a good action drama like me right now then i wouldn't recommend this. You will be cursing by the time you finish episode 1 like me.
Should you decide to watch it then good luck and enjoy. Let me know how it is ?
