Huge C-Drama Fan

My first C-Drama: Ashes of love

My first K-Drama : W-Two Worlds

Favorite Genres: wuxia, Scientific,  Xianxia, Fantasy, Historical

I actually prefer watching Chinese dramas over K-dramas/Western dramas, especially wuxia/xianxia dramas because of their beautiful costumes, wonderful music (using traditional instruments like flute, zither, and many more), beautiful sets, and interesting customs and rituals, martial arts, swordsmanship, and reciting poems. These elements are so addicting to me. As I am Asian, it is not difficult for me to understand their culture.

In every Chinese drama, I end up shedding oceans of tears, which actually makes the drama more interesting. But after watching dramas for more than a year, I have become more picky about them.

I look for:

1. A strong female lead who doesn't necessarily wield a sword at all times but is mentally resilient, able to grasp the complexities of situations and respond appropriately. She should be independent but not self-centered. I appreciate a female lead who may exhibit silliness but not to the point of annoyance, and I particularly enjoy Male leads who are Silly/mischievous.

2. A love story that is built on a solid foundation and possesses depth.

3.  I can watch any wuxia drama.

4. I have little tolerance for excessive misunderstandings in plots, unless they are logically sound.

5. I tend to avoid reverse harem dramas.

6. I'm drawn to male-centric dramas that explore themes of bromance, friendship, and heroes saving the world.

7. I find it frustrating when modern values and theories are injected into historical dramas, especially in the portrayal of female characters. It becomes jarringly unrealistic when the female lead is overly self-centered and fails to understand or accept the male lead due to her desire for independence, only to be consistently rescued by him in the end. This portrayal does not align with my understanding of what constitutes a strong female character.

8. I prefer dramas that offer life lessons and logical storyline.

9. I prefer non-romance dramas because, in general, romance often kills any logic in the plot.  Characters do stupid things for the sake of the plot to move forward.  Conversely, in dramas where romance is subtle or absent altogether ,the screenwriters will use their brains to write the story.

10. Most importantly i need good character development.
