I was expecting some more screen time with the couple and a better presentation of their relationship. However, that never happened. Actually, the drama was more about the second couple than the main one. So, overall, the story was boring and tiring to watch. At least there was a good conclusion. And the performances were good from all actors and actresses.
So, overall, 4 out of 10.

However, I've found the current story a bit messy and not as well presented. But, the ending was nice and I liked how they added that dancing part in the end, which wasn't shown in the movie.
I need to add here that I haven't yet watched the korean movie, so I don't know if this one was better than the original.
So, overall, six out of ten.

The Miracles of the Namiya General Store

The begining was nice, as the story started growing and the movie presented the odd parallel world that was connecting the past with the present through the letters. Midway though, the movie got a bit boring for me. It picked up a lot after a while, however, with strong dramatic scenes and just great performances. The small letter cases were nice as well, although I found myself confused by the main one at times.
So, for the performances and the world built up, six and a half out of ten.

The story started good, presenting the universe and the characters. The cast is an all star cast, although the main character was much more manly than the one in the anime. However, he did a good job with his acting nevertheless.
The film's plot was good until it reached a point when the story was rushed to finish. That deprived the story of the teacher-students dynamics that the movie needed to explain some of the events that happened.
So, good performances, surprisingly good CGI, nice action scenes, but rushed ending and lack of emotions: six out of ten.

The story had premisses to become a good crime thriller, but the three main characters, as well as the rest of the criminals and so, were just there, added to the story to create the world of crime. No prior information on who they are, why they are killers and so were provided in order to get to know them. At least the main character was presented well enough so we could keep up with the story. The ending was satisfying however, as it concluded the story nicely. Again, however, the story was confusing.
So, four out of ten.

Other than that, the story is very emotional and heavy, as we see how society condemns a person because of what his brother had done, before even knowing him. Still, the plot was kind of rushed so it wasn't properly presented.
In addition, the performances were really good and that helped the movie a lot.
So, overall, six out of ten.

Is this like every other shoujo manga turned movie? Yes, but, fortunately, its production saved it from being a failure. That and the leading lady. She was not only very good at her acting, but also her character was easily relatable and very likable. Another plus for this movie was the friendship theme and the love triangle. The mystery behind the boy's first disappearance and then his "past" wasn't that interesting, as it wasn't treated as a mystery at all. However, he kept letting down the girl with no real explanation and that was a little annoying, as he was presented as the bad boy type though he didn't look like it. In addition, towards the end, it started getting boring and the final result was too predictable. That's why, I'm rating this one with 5 out of 10. Was this review helpful to you?
