Beautiful drama with top-notch production

I immensely enjoy The Longest Promise. What I like is its fairy-tale flavor, the combination of serious scenes with some tongue-in-cheek moments. And indeed Xiao Zhan as Shi Ying is so appealing that I could spend the whole day watching him meditating. The Longest Promis is visually pleasing and the visual effects fit the style of the drama. The story is told in an interesting way and I don't feel I miss anything because I haven't read the book on which the drama is based. Viewers should remember that The Longest Promise is a kind of drama that puts emphasis on heartbreak and suffering and the story leads to the circumstances that bring distress and agony. The Longest Promise is a tale full of magic and pain and I recommend it strongly to every XiaoZhan fan.

This is not a gameplay story about leveling up, it's a story about growth, change and maturing

I really don't understand fans of the anime who come here to say this adaptation is not like the anime. It's not because it's the adaptation of the book, not the anime. I'm a fan of the novel and I'm really satisfied with the effect of Douluo Continent drama. It's not like the usual wuxia drama, it's an emotionally charged story about people and their motivations and I really appreciate that. You won't find it in the book, and that's why the drama hits harder. It has its own, unique style and when you are watching it, you want to explore this world more and more. I'm very glad that the creators didn't try to copy the anime because that's not what I'm looking for. That's something new, and I really like it. The casting is very good. Tangs San, his father and the Master are perfect. I really like the casual approach to music. Everyone expects amazing melodies, grandiose harmonics, but creators of this drama do things on their own. I really appreciate it. The rewatch value is really high because there are too many good things in the drama to be spotted at first watching. I hope it's another chapter of this kind of dramas because the flops of some other latest titles show that this genre needs changes.

A moving story about life

The Oath of Love is a moving drama. It's not just a silly romantic comedy with no depth. It's a story about everyday life, about people who could be our family, our friends, neighbors. Many dramas suffer from inconsistency. They start well, yet later they change the pace, introduce unnecessary characters, create shortcuts in the story. In the Oath of Love, there is no single character, scene, or line that should not be there. The story is very fluent, the relationships have their ups and downs but their development feels very natural and in place. The main leads, Yang Zi as Lin Zhi Xiao and Xiao Zhan as Gu Wei have amazing on-screen chemistry. It's hard to believe that this is the first cooperation between Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan as their understanding of the roles and the relationship between the characters they play is incredible. Even if romantic comedies are not your cup of tea, it's really worth a try.

Superstar Academy is a hidden gem

For those who don't know, Superstar Academy is the first ever Xiao Zhan drama filmed together with other members of XNine. Xiao Zhan himself jokingly calls this drama his dark period and many fans struggle to watch it. And they are all wrong. They are losing a chance to watch and enjoy the masterpiece which Superstar Academy is. But first, you should know, it's not a regular youth drama, it's more a parody or Quentin Tarantino version of a Chinese youth drama. It's so bad that it makes it so good. But in fact, it's not bad at all, it's just in many cases surreal or sometimes looking cheap or naive. But if you won't look at this from the point of view of a regular youth drama, you'll appreciate the idea, the wit, the story, the setting, the costumes, and most of all the characters. Xiao Zhan plays the male lead role, Fang Tianze. I don't know if it's true what I've read somewhere, that he was not casted for that role, yet the director noticed him and find him a perfect man to take that job, though knowing Xiao Zhan's charisma that's highly probable. Fang Tianze seems to be a rich, handsome, and very spoiled hair of a powerful and wealthy family but he also has a secret. He lives in the World in which some people are born with special powers connected to the Zodiac signs and he attends a school for people with special abilities. I won't tell you more. But Xiao Zhan and other members of the cast have many brilliant and funny scenes, the story is very engaging and it's really worth watching. But keep in mind, to watch at least three episodes, they are really short. The first episode is not the most representative of the whole drama and is probably the reason why so many people drop the drama so early.
