An average quality of Jin Yong's classic novel adaptation.

First of all, i won't be comparing this RoCH with other similar titles. Story wise, it's JY's novel adaptation with 80% similarity, 20% of it is improvisations, telling new story arc that's not in the book. I don't really like the story of this JY's book so i just give 7,5 point. Legend of Condor Heroes has better story in my opinion.
Acting is just average. Contrary to many people who praise Leo Wu as young Yang Guo, i think he is over-acted. This series has the worst version of Zhou Botong who always scream whenever he talks. And, i agree with most people Michelle Chen is miscasted as Xiao Longnu.
One more minus from acting is many unnecessary & illogical kissing scenes. A guy who just meet a girl can kiss her without even knowing each other? Man, this is totally unacceptable, right?
Special effects are outdated. Fighting scenes are just average.
Music, i don't pay attention to it but i think it's pretty good.
Rewatch? Nah, i never rewatch a show, and this one is a sure "no".

Good sequel, but bad casting.

This title is the continuation story of the 1st Evernight.
+ One of the best tv series in terms of special effects.
+ Very good musics.
+ Breathtaking panorama & costumes, really a visual feast.
+ Adapted from Mao Ni's novel which usually has a good story.
Now, here comes the minus points!
- Bad casting. With so many replacements, only actress playing Ye Hongyu did a good job & has a beauty comparable to Joey Meng from S1. I can't list all the reasons who & why because it will take ten pages to complete. The one playing 7th sister was the worst face-wise. Man, she looked ug##. I'm really sorry just to blurt out this. And the acting was a bit different (though it came from the same director). Particularly the one played the king of Tang. Leon Lai in S1 played a calm, charismatic king. But this new guy, made a whole new king who was a bit temperamental, a bit naughty like a kid (he pretended not to hear his minister talking once & kept writing and just said "oh you are here" after the minister finished talking. ) You can see it, right? It's bad acting.
- One point that needs to be mentioned is that, i feel the protagonists team was too OP, or always have a lucky angel on their side. Whatever the antagonists team did, they will just fail. This minor thing makes the series less enjoyable.

Just another detective/police procedural drama masked with a good plot.

This drama has a good promising. It has high rating. The plot is: two identical twins, Hongfeng is an ex-police captain and his younger brother Hongyu is just a "jack of all trades" kind of guy. Little bro get accused of murder. Instead of fleeing or surrendering, they both conceal his whereabouts, and switch place playing as Hongfeng, the older brother, who make his way back, now as a police consultant. They try to collect clues and evidences to prove Hongyu's innocence.
Now, the execution of the plot in the film is another story. I drop this series after 13 episode. Why? Because this is just another common detective film. They provide us with case and more cases which is unrelated to the main plot, and at the same time cleverly give us a little clue related to the main plot. In other words, this film is full of fillers.
The acting is good enough, and has some run and chase actions to keep you excited. The cinematography is also good. Music, i don't really pay attention to it, but i like the ending song by Yin Shuyi. Rewatch value, i never rewatch any so i just give a standard point of 5.
I don't think this series deserved that high rating (more than 8). This drama has no noticeable weaknesses unless you think of it. Good action, good cinematography, good story. That's why most people like it. But, yeah you are watching 32 episodes full of fillers.

Is it a good show? Maybe. But something is off.

First of all, english isn't my mother language, but i hope everyone at least know what I mean. I think nowadays, almost all tv shows which have good ratings, just part of hype, in fact not all of them is really good. After watching 2 ep, this show is pure action, and i quickly noticed something is off, which is, the logical action of the character based on situation. Enter Lee eun-hyuk. This guy shares a room with his sister. One night, he told her he was going to work. At ground level, he found some occupants grouping together & they seem can't get out. Then a monster attack. Tell me, in your logic, what should the guy do? First he tries to help others to fend off the monster & close the door. Pretty logical. Then he groups up with other. He forbids anyone opening the door to leave. Ok. He goes to security room and watches the monitors. He sits there with others & planning what to do. Errr...wait, did you say he has a sister?
Yep, that's exactly why i told you something is off with this tv show. The character doesn't act logically enough. Does he forget he has a sister up there? And when her sister finally goes downfloor, he just hands her a shirt for cover. No talk. Nothing.
