Save Yourself The Embarrassment, SERIOUSLY! T-T

I’m usually a fan of Filipino movies and I try to find positives when I write my reviews but if I’m being brutally honest, there’s literally NOTHING positive to find here, not even if you look using a microscope lol.

FL is essentially gutter dirt poor with very questionable hygiene, has no manners, talks with her mouth full, picks her bum and then makes ML smell it lol. I’m sorry but the bum picking was the last straw for me. She’s just disgusting! She did change later but the image of her character is forever a stain in my memory. There’s a ton of poop and puking jokes which are just not my type of comedy and the level of embarrassment I was feeling watching her character would be cause for writer to be imprisoned lol. Her acting was abysmal and excruciatingly over the top.

If you wanna check it out for even the plot, don’t. There is almost NO plot and I feel I wasted 1.5 hour on foolishness. Seriously save yourself from this garbage.

Oh wait, there is one positive thing….I liked when the ML and other staff were teaching her how to behave more lady like lol. That’s it, nothing else.

Feel free to give it a go as not everyone sees things the same way and it would be interesting to see if anybody has a different opinion to mine but you’ve been warned lol.

The Longer It Got, The Worse It Gets

This is my first drama with this couple which I only started because I'd seen their movies.

The negatives are the multiple second chances, leads became extremely childish, too many unnecessary and snail paced episodes but especially the Italian stereotype. That cringed me out the most lol.

STORY
I liked the story....at least in the first half. It started to go down at 52 and then it just completely dragged out so it was 20 episodes too many. The fact that I watched the 72 episode version didn't ease the torture.

The romance was ruined me, I couldn't care less anymore and it turned a bit too melo and mankjang-y for my taste. The only thing that made the torture somewhat watchable was the Family scenes

CAST/ACTING
I really liked the cast and their acting. The people I loved at the beginning became the most annoying towards the middle and end and the person I despised at the beginning became the most loved. Rare occurance.

MUSIC
There was only one OST. Just imagine hearing the same song multiple times in one episode and then times that by 72. The one time I wish coprlyright would mute the music lol

REWATCH VALUE
For me? Heck no! There is nothing on this planet that would make me rewatch this. This is probably better suited to Melo and Makjang lovers and die hard fans of the leads.

Not the Drama I Expected

Welcome to my first review of 2022!

I started this drama a little after midnight thinking it was gonna be sweetness and light, but honestly if I was to mention even one thing about it, it would essentially be a spoiler. What I can say is that it’s very Family orientated so if you’re into the Family genre then you may also enjoy it.

I know this is a Filipino drama which means the watch count will be low but I wasn’t expecting it to be quite so low especially given how short it is. It’s an easy watch, something to watch between dramas with priority. What I really came for was the Music and this was my very first one from The Philippines and it didn’t disappoint. Granted, I only really liked one song but the rest was still good.

The leads had really nice chemistry which for me is very hard to find in Filipino content but I really liked them and the relationship with their friends and family ~ excluding Jewel’s mother. She was too annoying for my taste.

I wish there were more Filipino dramas like this one, a little bit insane whilst remaining interesting and of course 6 being the magic number.

Welcome to my final review of 2021!

As per usual, negatives first! Whilst I didn’t mind the disapproving parent trope, I didn’t care for all the scheming and plotting. I think this lakorn would’ve still been enjoyable without it. Also, I’m utterly dissatisfied with the outcome of the antagonists. It’s not often I even say that but this is one of the few times I’m not a happy bunny. It felt lazy.

Another thing I was displeased about was Prang’s role. She plays a “main character” who is really in supporting role. There’s been a few lakorns like that this year but she still has good scenes. She certainly killed all those crying scenes lol.

STORY
I’m not really sure if this is spoiler cos for me it’s not, given that it’s revealed pretty much everywhere that a ghost is involved ~ in the title, in the trailer, in the (open) tags, and of course, for those who read synopsis….in the synopsis. Anyways, the Ghost plot is what piqued my interest in this lakorn. The ghosts aren’t scary at all which for me is an absolute bonus!

It is a little bit episodic but honestly you shouldn’t be too bothered by them as there is still a lot of focus on the main plot because they are linked.

CAST/ACTING
Everyone did a fabulous job playing their parts. I will admit that I got attached to some of the characters especially because of the presence of the Family and Friends theme. I loved the main couple as well as Non + Mu and Non + Pong’s antics and whilst Prang did spend most of her scenes crying, it honestly didn’t bother me. She had reason to cry so much, only a monster would whinge about that lol.

MUSIC
I’m sorry but I only remember Please Help Me by Kongthap Peak cos it was so repetitive but since I loved it from the moment I heard it, I really didn’t mind lol.

REWATCH VALUE
Absolutely, 100% but then again that’s cos I enjoyed this lol so probably best to ignore this part.
I probably liked 99% of this lakorn as reflected in my review so I am unsure if the story dragged. If anything, I didn’t want it to end but alas all good things must come to an end right? I think the fact that this was pretty heavy on the topics of Karma and Merits made me love it even more as I don’t really see other countries mentioning similar things. If you like ghost plots, leads who can see ghosts, family theme and of course romance + comedy you may enjoy this.

I will try to remain as unbiased as I possibly can because this lakorn just entered my Top 10 favourite Action!

Y’all know the drill, negatives first which for me was FL. Whilst she wasn’t completely useless, she had knowledge and apparently knowledge is power. I just wish that physically, she wasn’t so weak and needing to be rescued every single time.

STORY
I had absolutely no idea what I was walking into when I started this but I knew there was Magic which I’m a huge fan of - clean not Black Magic. This is possibly the highest level of Power Struggle I have ever encountered, even more than Laila Thida Yak (last Action lakorn I watched).

ACTING/CAST
I wanted to watch this solely for the Action and I’m happy to say that I wasn’t disappointed. ML is one of the strongest I’ve seen in all the year I’ve been watching dramas in general with no signs of weakening as the story progressed so his definitely my favourite. I think together the characters worked really well and the actors made their characters their own.

MUSIC
I mostly remember the opening song since I heard sooo many times, even during the episode so it’s stuck in my head but there is one other song they played that I also enjoyed.

REWATCH VALUE
If you enjoy it as much as me I’d say yes, but if not then obviously not lol.

Whilst there is Romance here, this lakorn is almost pure Action so if you’re thinking of watching this for the romance you may be disappointed. The Romance is so little you may not even notice it but if you’re a fan of Action then this may be right up your street. As I pretty much enjoyed this all the way, I can’t say if this dragged or not so I’m not really qualified to comment on that. I do hope Thailand come out with more lakorns like this one.

Promising Start

STORY
I thought I was coming for a straight forward Contract Relationship (with Family ties) but it was anything but! First half was done so well, great promising start but then just before it hit the second half everything started going downhill and it was no longer what I came for. The leads relationship and family elements were what I loved most about this drama so I’m extremely disappointed at the turn of events. I thought the Romance was going to be a Slow Burn but in actuality, it pretty much didn’t exist - at least for the main couple. There were some other side couples that I did have fun watching so at least there were some backups but as I watch mostly for main couples, I can’t hide how disappointed I am in regards to them. Migs and his grandfather’s relationship was also really nice.

CAST/ACTING
Everyone did fantastic, it’s just a shame about the story. Migs and Sensen could’ve been (another) one of my favourite couples of 2021 but writers didn’t use them well enough.

MUSIC
No music that was noticeable enough to remember.

REWATCH VALUE
Unfortunately for me, this isn’t worth rewatching. Watching it once was enough for me lol

The second half really ruined this drama for me and because of that, there was no chance for any proper romance. This drama’s content is almost equivalent to a Ch3/7 lakorn with all the greed and murders which made me feel like I came out of my comfort zone because I normally watch Filipino content for the romance so this was a bit of a slap in the face. If you watch these types of dramas then this will be right up your street. I will say that this drama could’ve been much shorter but due to it having such a large cast I guess they needed to forever drag it out to go around every family member’s storyline and all the unnecessary characters getting too much screen time.

Remake of Novel NOT Drama

FULL DISCLAIMER:
Okay, first of all people need to know that this is a remake based on Zhao Qian Qian’s novel which is also clearly stated in the opening sequence so don’t come watching this thinking it’s gonna be a copy and past version of the Chinese drama. I’ve not read the novel so have no idea how close the drama is. My advise would be to lower your expectations, better still have none and don’t compare cos you will most likely be disappointed.

Secondly, whilst I did try the Chinese version I dropped it after one episode so I was kinda happy when I found out that there would be a Thai version especially one that’s not yet another Korean drama. I do love Thailand for remaking as many Korean dramas as they have but honestly, it’s so darn refreshing that they went with China.

As always, starting with the negatives which for me were the second leads. I tend not to like them if I’m being quite honest and this was no different. I found them both annoying until I didn’t anymore but I also didn’t like Pai’s so called friend Wawa. I found her to be selfish and her scenes always consisted of her moaning which resulted in my skipping most of her scenes unless she was with Pai or Pupaa.

STORY
This is pretty much the usual Cookie Cutter school love story for me, I’m not much of a School drama fan. Nothing really new to bring to the table but I guess for me, I found the fluff of it all refreshing….explained in my final thoughts. Also, whilst I did love the fact that the drama wasn’t just about the romance, I would’ve loved to get more light on the friendship between Ta and Pupaa. One thing I didn’t really like is how Pai always needed someone to come and solve her problems for her. Whilst the drama is made from China origin, I loved how they still managed to incorporate some Thai stuff into it to make it feel a bit more Thai. My favourite parts of the drama were definitely the Special Scenes.

ACTING/CAST
The acting isn’t anything groundbreaking but considering the actress playing Pai is a newbie, I personally think she did rather well. I enjoyed the main couple the most and what little friendship was used, I thought they had nice chemistry and fitted the characters well.

MUSIC
I only noticed the opening song which I loved. Oh and the lyric free background music.

REWATCH VALUE
For me, yes because I’ve probably enjoyed it more than I ever imagined I would.

I’m not usually into the overly fluffy romcoms but as far as Thai productions go, this is possibly the fluffiest I’ve ever seen which is a huge deal for me as most Thai I watch tend to come from Channels 3, 7 and One31 so you know there is a big difference. I didn’t feel out of my comfort zone which is strange as I previously mentioned, I’m not a fan of fluff or school and some scenes you could tell were a bit too cringey but somehow I didn’t cringe as much as I normally would from other countries. It’s been a nice experience watching a drama without fear of someone getting kidnapped, assaulted or stalked by some killer. This is a true romcom and I wish more were like this - danger free!

There is honestly no words to describe how much I enjoyed this drama. It’s definitely not your typical Thai drama which is all the more reason I was able to enjoy it.

As always, starting with the negatives which was that loud nosy neighbour. Never have I ever seen a more pointless character than her. I didn’t like her husband much neither but he grew on me which I never expected. Unless you want a constant head and earache every time she shows up I suggest you skip her scenes lol.

STORY
The drama had a Superheroes vs Villains feel to it, something you’d find in American productions. I feel this was rather heavy with the Power Struggle which I hate as I’m not a fan of all that but honestly, it’s not the worst type as it didn’t give me the headaches I normally get which is great because this meant I was able to enjoy the drama to the fullest. I loved the Family and Friendships they were able to incorporate. Whilst this is indeed a comedy, I fully appreciated the sad parts of it because it made it even more special and touching. I wasn’t really expecting the use of two worlds to be as consistent as it was but I enjoyed those parts as well.

ACTING/CAST
I wanted to watch this when I first heard about it as I’m a huge fan of Inter but unfortunately there was no subs until recently. I must say that whilst I did indeed come for Inter, I absolutely loved the cast especially the good guys. Their chemistry was so natural. I think Marisa and Jack’s relationship is one of the best parent/child relationship I have seen in recent years. It was incredibly refreshing and heartwarming I was starting to question if this is really from Thailand lol. Even more than parent/child relationship, I loved Jack and Laila’s relationship. They had the strongest bond I’ve ever seen, even stronger than biological siblings - they protected each other to the death. I thought Laila was the baddest and youngest female lead ever, she was absolutely fearless and selfless. I would talk about Jack as an individual character but even his existence would probably be a spoiler lol. Just know that he was also a favourite of mine. Jack and his friend’s working together gave me really nice team work.

MUSIC
There wasn’t really any music per se unless you call silly background music one lol. One that was just catchy and you kinda clap along to it. The costumes were incredibly beautiful, some also weird but do watch out for CGI that won’t be Grade A.

REWATCH VALUE
I would say that this is definitely worth a rewatch.

Its pretty obvious that I enjoyed this drama, it’s been a few months since that last happened. I would recommend this to those who like the Superhero theme, a cute child, family/friends theme, Action, Suspense and consistent use of two worlds.

Promising Start

I wasn’t sure if I was going to do a review for this lakorn but at the last minute I just went with it.

So negatives first…..I feel that this lakorn had an incredibly promising start as the first 8 episodes, if I remember correctly were done so well. I liked the concept of Vampire since I enjoyed (most of the) Twilight movies but this was rather disappointing for me because rather than a “love story between an immortal and an ordinary girl” as the original synopsis stated, the story was more about greed and the evil of this world. I don’t mind villains as they are expected but the level of evil was just too high for my taste.

Another thing I didn’t care for at all was the CGI which is a huge part of why I tend to avoid Supernatural/Fantasy genres in Lakorn productions. I found the green eyes really distracting but I’m putting that down to expecting all vampires to have red eyes lol, the cracks on the wall when a character was pushed against it, was also pretty laughable. In the last few episodes, I found the villains actions to be nothing if not repetitive which honestly made everything seem kinda draggy and predictable.

Now onto the good stuff….is there even any at this point? lol
So, I initially came for the age gap and reincarnation part of the story but had no idea there was Vampire involved. I did enjoy the romance between the lead’s in the first 8 episodes but due to the things that happened from 9 onwards, I feel the romance wasn’t as much and it became all about survival. I also loved the family relationships both biological and found and the friendship between the characters were nice to watch. My fave character was probably Khaohom because she was strong and smart. I also liked the second couple even though the guy was incredibly annoying at first but his character development was really nice.

Some of the acting was OTT but over all it was good.

I only noticed one song playing throughout so that was also a little bit repetitive.

I wouldn’t rewatch this nor is it top of my recommendations but if you’re going to watch, I advise you to go in with no expectations. I never have expectations but the direction of the story was still a disappointment.

I haven’t written a review in a couple of months so forgive me if it’s bad lol.

I don’t even know where to begin with this review but what a ride this has been…

Let’s start with the negatives first one of which was Kul…..It pains me to say this as I am a frequent visitor of Bua’s lakorns but this is honestly the first time I’ve ever been disappointed in one of her work. It’s not her fault at all but for someone whose supposedly a Main Character, she was given scenes like she was in a Supporting Role. She played her part perfectly fine but Kul was one of those “alright, let’s bring in the girlfriend for a few scenes here and there” characters which makes me sad because she’s a good actress and I feel the writers let her down.

I came for the Body Swap as well as Krating but to my dismay, I liked Namtarn and Alek scenes even more - partly due to the fact that Krating’s character post swap, Wat was somewhat of a trigger for me, one who gave me a bit of a headache at times but I was still able to enjoy his acting. There is an Attempted Assault which is supposedly “the norm” in lakorns but as I was aware of it due to the trailer, I was able to skip such scenes but unfortunately the people behind the scenes love this little thing called flashbacks so I was quite annoyed by this. Because of this, I am not accepting of Wat and Kul pairing but I do appreciate his Character Development and background.

Story had many twists and turns which I guessed some but not all.
Romance between Tet and Ginny were really nice and they provided some comedy which I really appreciated in between all the endless danger. I didn’t know until this lakorn that Alek and Namtarn were a pairing that I needed, they were such a pleasure to watch. I think they were possibly the most selfless characters I’ve ever watched in the 4 years I’ve been watching lakorns.

Acting all round was really good, I think it was a team effort and they worked really well together but Alek really impressed me. Some scenes were rather difficult to watch without crying which honestly doesn’t happen a lot when I watch Lakorns but this one just hit a sore spot for me. There are some inconsistencies and logical stuff like when Tet and Ginny claimed to have no more money but they were still able to drive their car everywhere lol, bad casting “high school” flashback of Tet’s parents etc. Probably best to just ignore stuff like that to get full enjoyment.

Music - whether dramatic or soft - were quite fitting. No romantic music during assaults like they usually do.

Overall, I truly enjoyed this lakorn. I can easily say it’s my second fave lakorn of 2021 which probably isn’t saying much cos this year has been really bad but you still get to see some really nice ones along the way. I would recommend this if you like Body Swap plots, lead’s who do whatever to help and protect each other, no damsels in distress.

Promising Start....

There’s no review for this so here I am...

I really liked the first half of this. It was funny and the music was great. A little after the second half hit, it became less funny and more serious. I thought there was a wee bit too much killing going on even for an Action. They were unnecessary and did nothing to move the story along. I was quite disappointed that the Navy Officer character didn’t stick around for long.

I really liked the cast, maybe except for this female lead. I’ve never watched her before so I’m not sure if it was her character or acting but I wasn’t feeling it. She never responded to kissing scenes so it was like I was watching a Pancake Kiss - no lip movement, it’s like her lips were frozen. Another thing was the lack of reacting to something happening to a loved one. She was tooo calm after finding out the truth and the funny thing is, even the villain said the same thing. The romance was barely noticeable and I feel like they should’ve just left that out.
I thought the rest of the cast did amazing, the action scenes were really enjoyable. I felt it dragging a little bit in the last few episodes.

The music is extremely repetitive so if you’re not prepared for all that you should probably skip those. I really only liked one song but that’s cos it was super catchy and I couldn’t help sing along to it. There’s not that many words to remember. Sadly, the music died in the second half. There’s also a lot of noise (sound effects) pretty much all the way through, so be mindful if you don’t like that.

I wouldn’t rewatch this.

I came for the female lead but I quite enjoyed watching everybody else - well except for the villains, who just annoyed me with their constant plotting. I thought everybody worked very well together and the comedy didn’t feel forced. I liked the couple but the romance barely in existence as it was too slow and it wasn’t the main focus....so barely even classes as “slight romance” to me.

The plot itself was super draggy and way too repetitive for my taste and I mean it was soooooo repetitive. I feel the number of episodes could’ve been under 30. The plotting portion, for me was completely idiotic, unnecessary and was utterly pointless. I don’t understand anybody that would do what the villains did and their reasons was even more idiotic but I guess they needed to create the conflicts somehow.

The music....well it’s a musical so you probably shouldn’t watch unless you are prepared to see people starting to sing and dance at a moments notice. Lol First half, there was really only one song so I was glad when they started singing their own numbers in the second half. I really loved the dancing and singing at the end. The cast looked really lovely.

Whilst I did enjoy this, I personally wouldn’t rewatch, like at all.

Brownie Approved J-drama

This is my first Japanese review so bear with me.

I’m not exactly a fan of Japanese content as they aren’t what I look for in a drama, however this late night random find turned out to be the best thing I’ve ever come across.

I liked everything about this except for female lead. She was way too awkward, nervous and timid for my taste, I don’t think a boyfriend was what she needed much less wanted. She was already in a long term relationship with her job. As the plot progressed, I liked her even less because her actions only made her more annoying. I feel like their relationship was very much one sided until the last 10 mins or so. Male lead was perfect in every way; he was literally the best boyfriend anybody could ever ask for. He was nice, kind, supportive and very very patient...the type of Male lead I wish other countries had more of....China, I’m looking at you! I think he deserved better than what he got.

This has a good rewatch value but I don’t tend to rewatch dramas all that much. I believe this is the first time I’ve watched a J-title and it’s not felt like I’m torturing myself because of the language, it really does help to watch something you like that way the language isn’t such a huge issue. Not sure I’ll watch something Japanese again quite so soon. On this occasion, I got lucky lol. This is definitely a Brownie Approved Japanese drama.

No wonder there's no review or anyone crazy enough to sub this boring lakorn!

1. It was boring - a big chunk of episodes were skipped and I only watched the last episode. 5 episodes to be exact.

2. Crap CGI - honestly the tigers were so bad and that snake looked too fake for me to be scared of after the first few times. That skeleton thing made my skin crawl.

3. Too much action - don't get me wrong, I like action when its incorporated the right way but there was just too much unnecessary violence for my taste.

4. Not enough romance - continuing from my last point, too much action and not enough romance and the chemistry was crap - pretty much nonexistent! Didn't like the FL. I dunno if its because she was too weak for my taste or because I think Kem + Now has amazing chemistry in Hua Jai Look Poochai but I wasn't feeling him with the one from this lakorn.

The music wasn't very pleasing and the acting was barely passable.

I don't recommend this to anybody unless you're completely bored out of your mind.

Oh my gosh, its FINALLY over!!!! Hallelujah

Full Disclaimer - I didn't go seeking to watch this lakorn, I used it as part of the 2020 Watch Challenge. This is also the first lakorn I've watched completely raw so my understanding won't be 100%.

★Plot ★
(No synopsis on the drama page so this is my take)
It is the wedding day of the female lead and her boyfriend. She is getting dressed and suddenly she gets kidnapped by the male lead - all set up by the woman who has her sights on her boyfriend. It appears that the male lead has no idea who she is and essentially took the wrong person - If thats even believable. Female leads ends up marrying the other woman because of whatever lies she told to the boyfriend and female lead's family.

★ Characters ★
I liked the village characters - those that were plots and being evil!
The lack of justice and essentially allowing people to get away with their crimes is ridiculous - at least the main beach should've gone to jail but this is a lakorn and its very rare someone actually goes to jail. The romance started out well but then I felt as if they really didn't progress as much as I would've liked.

★ Music ★
I'm not usually a fan of music being played as part of the main plot but I really liked it in this one. They were really nice, its probably one of the few things I truly enjoyed. The costumes used were also really nice and pretty to look at.

★ Rewatch Value ★
Zero, zip, zilch!!!

Overall, this had potential but it all went to the waste land with the repetitive cycle of kidnapping, beating up the villagers, destroying their properties, beaches plotting murders. I've lost count how many times all this happened. This lakorn was way too long and I feel it could've wrapped up with 16-20 episodes especially with all the repeats. This is not a lakorn I would recommend to anybody but feel free to try it out.
