'Secret' is a Jay Chou's spectacle. I must say that before watching this movie, I had no idea who he was - and pardon me my ignorance - but with this movie, he succeeded in showing his talents as a composer, a director, an actor and a story writer. I didn't find the plot as surprising as most people seem to have thought it was. Don't get me wrong, this movie's story is actually really good, and that is a fact. It's not your average asian movie romance story where the boy falls in love with the girl and that's it. I can definitely understand why so many people liked it for it is quite original. However, it was predictable to me, and I didn't read any spoilers beforehand. The music was undeniably the best part of this movie to me. I have said it before; this was a Jay Chou's spectacle and when it comes to music, this man is really good. All the scenes where he shows his musical talent were really nicely executed and cool, being the piano duel scene the highlight. The rest of the cast was really good as well. Especially the main girl.. she created such a lovable character, quite unique. The cinematography was good. I'm mainly saying this because it was a pleasant movie to look at. However, there were some obvious flaws when it comes to visual effects. The last scene (the demolition one) was particularly bad - and I'm saying this as the person who doesn't care too much when you can barely tell. This could have been such a great movie. However and in spite of its obvious flaws, this is somewhat of a refreshing movie; Jay Chou has definitely succeed in making something different from what we are used to seeing, which is remarkable and should be appreciated. That being said, go watch it if you haven't, it is worth your time.
