Reskinned Sweet Home?

I'll keep this review short.
If apocalyptic movies and dramas are of your taste, you've probably watched many of the popular ones out there, including Sweet Home (which is also getting a S2 very soon). While watching All of Us are Dead, many of the scenes had me thinking back at Sweet Home's plot. The plot is so overused and repetitive ;-; I would just recommend that you go watch Sweet Home if you haven't yet/if you're looking for a good apocalypse drama, cus this isn't it. The casts carried this drama imo, esp the male lead.

TLDR
If you're looking for a good drama, go watch Sweet Home instead. They invested way more into that drama and the CGI is insane. Not up to par to this drama.

Tackling Tomorrow with the right mindset

Just a heads up: if you don't like the types of shows where each episode has a unique plot, and the "main" storyline is unraveled bit by bit throughout each episode, you probably won't like this one. The background of the main characters are fully addressed at the end; I think it's worth your time though! I thoroughly enjoyed all 16 episodes :)

Something some people don't realize about this kdrama is the fact that the main focus is the topic of how suicide is not one's only option when they're suffering, not Koo Ryeon & Joong-Gil's history. The writers' target audience is people that are facing hard times, where the writers are hoping that they would try grasping onto hope and waiting for better days to come; the plot is just a bonus.

The formatting of this drama is quite different than a regular kdrama, where the plot/backstory o the main characters aren't the main focus, but the very sensitive topic of suicide. I saw other people in their reviews complaining about how the storylines were very uniform and every episode was basically formatted the same, and I do agree with that, but I think that the unique experiences and lessons each individual episode holds makes watching every episode heartwarming in their own ways.
Each episode features a different person, in a very different situation from the last. From animals to celebrities, the writers were able to address many of Korea's most pressuring stereotypes that may cause someone to feel like they don't belong in this world. Though some may think that the amount of diversity between the characters is overwhelming, I think that the heterogeneity of the characters' situations really connects into the real world very well.

Interesting shift in the plot…

Keep in mind that I will be discussing why I’m this close to dropping the series after finishing over half of the episodes. Spoilers will be included, only minor ones that I feel like one must know before starting the drama.

I usually love historical dramas and I don’t mind the cliche storylines and such. This drama was filled with just that, as most historical romance dramas are. I loved this one, keyword loved. Just finished episode 13, where the ML, the crown prince, becomes king. Sounds normal, but I have to disagree. Unlike other dramas, this one took a turn midway through the series and the writers decided that they wanted the whole plot to change. The series went from a lighthearted historical romance to watching two people engage in a frustrating relationship and the plotline took on a more depressing undertone.

To be straightforward, I don’t like what the crown prince’s character turned into. If you’re watching for the ML, I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t like this one unless you’re into guys full of red flags. In the first half of the drama, the crown prince was fine. Red flags here and there but as someone that chose to watch for the eye candy, I ignored it. Starting around episode 12 or 13, the crown prince started pushing himself (quite literally, as he was drunk ;-;) onto the FML as she wasn’t accepting his advances; it bothered me alot as her character looked visibly uncomfortable but couldn’t resist as she is just a mere court lady. Some may consider me sensitive, but I know many others are like me. I’m considering dropping the drama altogether if this continues ;-; I’m a fan of the ML and I don’t really want to see him playing a character that makes me feel this uncomfortable.. I also noticed how the FML stopped smiling as much which bothered me and made watching ep 13 almost unbearable.

I just wanted to give people a heads up on what type of drama they’re starting. My review was short and doesn’t cover much, I know. I wrote this at 3am bc I was so frustrated at the more recent eps lmfao

I've never simped so hard

This drama actually made my heart skip multiple beats. Rarely do I ever get to watch such a well crafted storyline including mythical creatures and actually be able to follow along 100% of the time. The plot's very light, enjoyable, and even comedic. Both the male and female leads played their parts very well, and so did the supporting cast! Maybe the male lead did a little too well of a job; mans got me crying over him 4 episodes in a row ;-; Best 16 hours I've ever spent in my life, I'll probably come back and spend another 16 hours rewatching it in the near future.

a uniquely frustrating plot

I agree with the others in the review section saying how realistic the drama/plot/feelings are. Not everything in life is just going to be following the typical kdrama relationship, there *will* be relationships where one person is stringing the other along, leading to miscommunication and toxicity. First of all, I'd like to applaud the writer for even thinking of creating such a fxckboy of a character for the male lead, as you don't see that very often. The female lead's character (imo) literally *makes* the whole plot possible as she's a submissive, gullible, helpless romantic. These two types of characters/personalities, when put together, obviously would create a huge headache that would be painfully entertaining to watch. In my case, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the drama, but at the same time, I had to pause every 10 minutes to think about how mad the plot (mainly the female lead's decisions) made me. If you've got a weak mental and can't tolerate people playing with another's feelings, this one's not for you. Mental masochists, grab some snacks as you'll probably finish this drama in a single night.

Going in circles

The drama's plot is basically centered around two people that are unsure of themselves and their own desires, but at the same time know exactly what they want, career-wise. The ML wasn't as bad, his character was more stable and willing to engage in the relationship than the FML. The FML was the one that made the plot possible, being unsure of what she wanted. She kept avoiding her feelings towards the ML, but eventually started dating him despite how their parents did not want them together. This was so frustrating; it was like watching a pair of high schoolers that broke up get back together a dozen times despite breaking up a dozen times. Looking back, I wouldn't say that the main couple's relationship was very shallow (bc they kept breaking up ;=; literally nothing but angst was able to develop between them). The best couple I would say is one of the supporting couples. I'd go as far as saying I only managed to finish the drama since the FML's friend's story was so touching. In short, the main couple was eh, the side couples' stories were way more entertaining and interesting.

Drama-filled, but not very fulfulling

If you don't really have time to watch every drama that's coming out and you're considering picking one or two to watch, I def wouldn't recommend this one just isn't worth your time. If you have free time though, sure go for it. If you're willing to invest over 32+ hours in a drama filled w cheating, go for it.

The plotline's pretty unique imo considering the fact that the writers came up w 3 different cheating scenarios for the 3 main couples. I like how they're all connected by their workplace. If you're wondering, yes you MUST watch season 1 to even understand what's going on as the plotline just continues off of the first season. It's alot of investment.

yeah

I see where all of these other comments bashing the drama are coming from. When I watched the drama by myself before reading the other reviews on this site, I genuinely enjoyed and looked forward to every new episode that came out. Although I do understand and agree how the plot isn't anything special, it didn't really matter to me. I'm sure there are more hopeless romantics like me out there that wouldn't mind watching the same cliché plot over and over again but still get butterflies everytime. I had a great time watching it while sitting back and enjoying the eye candy the lead actors/actress provided us with. Honestly, most of us watched it bc of the visuals. I wouldn't rewatch the whole drama, but I'd be more than willing to skim through the trailers and clips of the drama on YouTube ig.

Great start, fell off

The first ten-ish episodes were amazing. First of all, the plot was light but also very fun to watch. The last 5 episodes or so reminded me of literally every drama that I've watched: the ML/FML running in circles, and away from each other. If you enjoy these types of romcom plots, binge tf out of this drama! It'll probably be a 8/10 or higher for you.
Though I have to admit, the comedy aspect of this whole show was off the charts. The cast never failed to make me laugh every episode

Is this drama for you? Yeah, if you like
- Minor love triangles
- Wholesome, cute relationships
- A happy ending for everyone
- *light* frustration due to the plot

// SPOILERS, FINAL THOUGHTS //
I feel like the drama could've ended on episode 10, or even better, 8. Some might think I'm exaggerating, but I really feel like it should've ended when they confessed to each other. The writers were obviously adding in some cliché events (taking a trip together and breaking up at the end/love triangle/angst through small fights/time skip, it's endless) to drag out the drama for 6 whole eps imo. It was worth watching, but some would see the last episodes as a bunch of extras/filler episodes :) they were nice to watch though
