some nice fluffy moments but also a lot of "yikes" moments

the storyline is pretty typical and kinda trite. Evil rich father separates lovers blah blah blah.... it was so boring and over the top that i really wish they hadn't used the trope.
The conflict could have come just from separation and family obligations on both sides without the homophobic father who comes around in the end without really having learned anything.
the dynamics between the the 2 MCs at the beginning was hard to watch. I understand anger but i don't understand why it is acceptable for men to display it so violently. Slapping, throwing each other around, force kissing... I disliked that part and found it hard to watch. So the first 3-4 episodes were the worse for me. Once they started actually talking, it became a lot more interesting and deep.
I also found that the way they depicted neuro divergence and personality disorders really poorly done.
it's a split for me, the end of the series felt like the first season and i enjoyed it but the beginning was quite jarring and poorly written for me

Akira is an asswipe but it's not entirely his fault...

I know, i know... comp het sucks and Akira is a victim of societal pressure. i get that. BUT HE WAITED A DECADE, ripped apart the person he had been with and then married the woman he's lying to (and moved her into the same apartment he was sharing with Yuki). Honoka is right, he really is the worst. He spent quite a few years with her as well before losing his shit and deciding that after all, he doesn't want to be "normal". Granted, the scene in which he stood up to his mother was amazing... still it doesn't quite fully redeem this character and part of me is happy he can truly find himself and get back to Yuki and part of me wants to punch him in the throat.
overall, the acting was wonderful and the storytelling really well done to span such a spread of time in so few episodes. I didn't feel like the important moments were well highlighted and well told.

So much more than meet the eye

This series is so underrated. It may seem basic and ordinary at first glance, but it is packed full of beautiful and insightful moments. Underneath a story of coming to terms with one's sexuality is a deep social commentary on what it means to be loved, what it means to be queer and classism. The series doesn't shy away from some darker topics ranging from self harm and self hatred, to poverty and struggling for acceptance. It doesn't try to preach but uses the characters to bring to the forefront topics very rarely or even never mentioned in BL. Definitely recommend and i can't believe it took me this long to see it.
