On her first day in high school the FL meets the ML and provides him direction to their high school. The boy turns out to be handsome, outgoing, and popular. Although she’s been bullied and made an outcast since a child, the FL never lost her kindness, cheerfulness, or innocence. The ML sees this side of her, beyond the girl people call “Sadako,” and starts to like her. She doesn’t have the confidence to believe that anyone would like her, or would like to be her friends. Her goodness, however, wins over two girls. These two girls are great friends, and people she much needed in her life. They don’t give up on her and defend her from bullies. I love her BFFs. The ML, too, is kind and sweet. His actions, to any other girls, would certainly convey the message that he likes her, but for the FL, she’s confused and cannot believe that the ML would like someone like her. When he finally asks her out and to be his girlfriend, she panics and turns him down. Her friends convince her to tell him the truth about how much she likes him but just panicked. The homeroom teacher counsels the ML that he should see beyond the FL’s words and to understand why she turned him down. So, the end we have a love confession and the two ends up together. This drama is so cute and innocent. I love the most her two friends. I love that the ML never wavers in his love for her from day one, and I love how he is so sweet and kind to her. MAN, this was SUCH an AWESOME movie!!! To think I would have just let this one sit on my desktop for weeks... At the time I guess I thought it would be nothing more than a wacky movie, (and with the premise of a girl who looks like SADAKO from RING scaring her fellow students, who could blame me? ) who would have thought that I would find such an UTTERLY SWEET and HEARTWARMING Show? Such an earnest and sincere film, this one really made you feel good!
And HEY!!! Tabe Mikako aside, no one told me this show was gonna be FILLED with SO MANY HOT, SMOKIN’ CHICKS! I mean, I DID. NOT. KNOW. that MIREI KIRITANI was in this show, and I mean to tell you, she was lookin’ fine. Renbutsu Misako plays one of her best characters yet with the tough but loveable Chizu, and I got my first introduction to the sultry Natsuna Watanabe, playing the sexy and cool-headed Ayane (And I’ve got more to talk about HER next time). There were these gorgeous gals all over this film!
KIMI NI TODOKE is the tale of a girl named Sawako who, because of her scary looks, is feared by her students, till an outgoing and cheerful boy named Shota (played by Haruma Miura) takes a liking to the shy, insecure but good-hearted girl, and along with friends..This would be a fine story as is, but what I really, REALLY loved about it was the fact that the heart of this movie clearly centered around the importance of FRIENDSHIP. The way they showed Sawako’s bonding with Shota, Ayane and Chizu is so thoughtfully paced and actually quite believable. When it gets to the point when they think to ask her if they are friends, they realize that they’ve already passed the point where you even have to!
When things like backhanded lying, gossiping rumours, and aggressive attitudes develop in front of them and threaten to tear their friendship apart, it’s that very friendship that they draw their strength from, and you watch this movie truly feeling like, Hey, these kids really love each other!
This movie came as a bright, clear breath of fresh air after the somewhat disappointing HANAMIZUKI which seemed (to me) to be mired in melodrama. While I’m sure (positive, actually) that there are people out there who disagree with me, Kimi Ni Todoke is the way to go- This one is a winner!

For me, this movie give the impression of innocent and pure love and friendship. Well, actually I'm more impressed of the friendship part than the love part in this movie (^_^) At first I thought that Chizuru and Ayane just want to bully Sawako, just want to make fun of her, but it turns out that they're really saw her as their bestfriend (^_^) As for the love part, well ... it's great for Shota that his feeling really reach Sawako in the end. I like the jealous act Shota made when he pull out Sawako when she talked to Ryu. It's so funny (^o^) Was this review helpful to you?
What an Innocent Love Story
One thing that's definitely gone over-saturated in the medium is how over-the-top and over-dramatic everything is acted out. Sue, it makes for bugger stakes, larger-than-life storytelling, however, in today's world, there is so much like that's it's daring to stumble across an unassuming, unadulterated adaptation like Kimi Ni Todoke.Kimi Ni Todoke is an innocent, wholesome, and pure romance told through the lens of a high school outcast, Sawako, buried deeply under stacks of rumors and deep-fried gossip. And you know how superstitious some of those remote rural Japanese towns can be. Until that is, she meets this pleasant, loved-by-everything high school sweetheart, Hazehaya, who breaks through the social cage keeping the FL away from any meaningful interaction.
The synopsis seems generic enough to pass you by in an instance, however, the approach and the execution are what kept me engaged. This is a family-friendly showing of innocent, coming-of-age romance with no vulgarity to show. Not even a single kissing scene and you know what? That's fine, in fact, it's what makes it stand out in my opinion because even without any intimacy of that kind, the direction of the movie makes it work, and beautifully so.
What drew me originally to watch this is Tabe Mikako herself, I'm so in love with her acting, she has such a way of expressing emotional frequencies through her talent as an actor but nobody told me I was in for discovering such an amazing male lead, Miura Haruma who stole my heart in this role. Unfortunately, I was hit by the news of him dying a couple of years earlier at such a young age of 30 too.

A beautiful story wrapped with warmth
If you're not sure whether to watch this or not, just drop the hesitation and watch it. It is a feel good drama that reminds you of your highschool love. No unnecessary drama or misunderstandings that frustrates you, just simple and sweet story that makes you smile. The leads did a great job to portray their character very well and although the story doesn't only focus on romance, you'll still love it. Also the unexepected friendship is the drama is heartwarming. And Rest in peace Miura Haruma (Kazehaya). You did well. I hope you are at peace wherever you are.

I felt the movie was too slow paced ( maybe the reason i felt it was boring, just like the manga ) but the cast was the best thing that happened in the movie. The roles fit perfectly well. Especially the main and supporting characters. Plus I have fallen in love with Kazehaya's smile. I only watched and persisted till the end of the movie for his smile. Cause it just made all of it worth it.
That's all I had to say about this movie.

What failed to make sense to me was, is the character of the female lead really like that? Like really? I could barely hear her dialogues! You are shy, you're timid, fine, but GOD why do you have to be so irritating about it!? And so dull, omg so dull -headdesk-
The story felt nice, the supporting cast was good as well (the ratings for the acting and cast were for the male lead and supporting cast ALONE, I frankly disliked the female lead). I have never seen a more annoying female protagonist. I'm so irritated right now. AGH. The male lead was nice though.
I get the whole 'I've always lived alone so I don't know how to behave normally' thing but this was just a bit too exaggerated. I don't know why but the movie just felt supremely awkward to me. Maybe it's the female protagonist's character or the female lead's acting, either way, a total turn off. I couldn't enjoy the rest of the movie because of her.
I don't know about the rest of the people but, the movie experience for me was bad.

Everything is just so bad I couln't even watch it whole. The history is cliché as f*ck, I could have this idea while i'm peeing!!
It's cliché, nonsense, the girl's acting IS BAD she doens't know how to express anything!
Her character is like a child with 4 years, but i guess if i had 4 years i wouldn't be like her, nobody would be like her. Nobody is going to be ever as dumb as this character is.
The storyline is just so cliché you can guess everything is going to happen!
There is NOTHING in this f*cking movie that is good!! Everything is just so awful, this movie looks homemade it should be excluded from universe! Nobody should watch this unless they want their eyes to bleed. Because mine did.
