TBH: I am shocked at the low ratings this drama has.

Moving on to the review:

This is now one of my all time fave dramas and I was hooked from the start and waiting each week to watch new episodes was sooo hard, especially when they got me with those cliffhangers that made me want to scream 'NO! WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!' If a drama does this for Me, they are doing it right.
The whole 'seeing scents' bit was so unique to me and tbh, it was cute!
The acting was AMAZING (especially the evil dude, my gawd he was flawless!), and I know people kept saying the MC girl was terrible in her other drama(s), this was my first time watching her act, and she was very good! She was so good at showing emotions and she was freakin' ADORABLE! Not the 'stop annoying me, ur so not cute!' kind, the LET ME HUG YOUUU kind.
The MC guy, I have seen him before, especially in rooftop prince, so I had high expectations from him tbh, and he did Not let me down here as well. One of my faveorite male kdrama actors (names are slipping from my mind right now sorry *suffering from a cold*).
The Police team was hilarious, no compliants with the either. xD

I loved the story: Romance, Comedy, Serious Crime, Action, Mystery, all that into one drama and it worked!
I loved the actors and how well they did their roles.
I loved the music.
I loved it all.
I was either lmao, 'awwwww <3', T_T, and on the edge of my seat.
You might not like it, but def give it a try!
Real refreshing out of all the usual cliches that drag on and on and leave you wanting to drop.
:)

Ok, let me just first say this, I actually did enjoy watching this drama (well most of it) but still it was such a disaster :D lol!!! Let's talk about "the good" first. I loved the main couple, they are both talented actors (especially Park Yoo Chun he's such an amazing actor!) they had a great chemistry and a very nice storyline. I also liked the twist that she could see smells! It was quite unique although I don't think the writers took full advantage of her ability, still it was refreshing!

Now to the disaster part: Well basically the story and the writing were horrifyingly bad ... this was supposed to be a crime drama, but it was as if a child (not even a teen) was trying to write a crime story and was hoping to put twists to the plot but failed miserably each time. The end result was me rolling my eyes and shouting 10 different ways that the whole plot could have been solved. on top of that it was 16 episodes ... like really why this long ...

obviously when the story lacks, the characters have to be weak as well. Hence the detectives were extremely unqualified and simply put very very very bad at their jobs. They were dreadful ...

There was no character development, no nothing, the story was just bland and flat. The only redeeming feature was the main couple's relationship, they were very cute together, bringing light fluffy feelings to the drama. Yeah, it's hilarious how through all this horribleness I still managed to enjoy myself! lol! I guess if you're in mood for some cute adorable love story and not caring much about anything other than couple's relationship give this a try :D !!

As for me, I would love to watch Park Yoo Chun in something well written next! :D

Why an 8 for the Story and only a 5 for Overall? An 8 to give the manga's author credit for an original idea and a 5 because the Delivery of a satisfying ending = nada = zip!

This drama started out with so much promise … Full Steam Ahead! First 7-8 eps were fast-paced and it seemed as if not only the Who but also the Why questions would be answered by end of show.

About 15 minutes into Ep 9, I picked up my iPad and started to play games as I watched. Before too long, the viewers could guess the Who and so most, if not all, of us continued to watch for the Why.

Then …

The Cute element in the Leads' romance no longer interested me … the Comic antics of the Investigative Team also got boring … If, IF, the writer(s) had thrown out a hint or two here and there as to the Why, I might have continued to actually watch this.

Instead, halfway through Ep 13, I went to a website to read the Recaps, hoping to find out the answers to the Why. I didn't … because the answers were just not there.

I really like the drama. I don't know why people keep saying it was a bad drama, but hey everyone has their opinions.

I am really tired of watching drams that have the male protagonist be in love with someone else only to fall in love with the female protagonist later on only because they couldn't be with their first love. It really annoys me because then the female protagonist has to go through the pain of making the male protagonist fall for her leaving the second lead male protagonist (who's always been there for her) heartbroken, maybe that's one of the reasons why I like really like this drama because it does not have a second male and female lead.

Story: The story is about how Moo Gak tries to find the murder of his younger sister and Cho Rim/Eun Soel who was given the sight to see smell after witnessing the murder of her parents and her accident., and so the drama goes on from there. Of course Moo Gak and Cho Rim fall in love I mean what kind of a drama would it be if there isn't at least an ounce of romance right. I like the fact that the drama is basically about their romance and the murder case and not about how the male lead tries to forget about his first love or how the second male lead tries to compete with the male lead for the heart of the female lead, NO it's just them too falling in love with no distraction from other characters and how they try to solve the murder case as a team.

Acting/ Casting: Why do people say that Yoochun's acting was horrible, I thought it was great. He Was fuunny, cute, hot, adorable and awesome just plain out awesome, he did a great job in acting as someone who can't feel pain. CHURRRR!!!! Oh my CHURR |(>o<)|!!!!! haha my favorite saying after watching yoochun saying it. Now let's talk about Shin Se Kyung, after watching her in WHEN A MAN LOVES, I absolutely hated her acting, I never wanted to see her in any drama but all that changed when I saw her in BLADE MAN, (in which I only watched for Lee Dong Wan at the time) I fell in love with her acting from that point on, she was charming, cute, and bright. I seriously though in my mind that she couldn't redeem her self since WHEN A MAN LOVES, but I was proven wrong. Now Yoochun and Se kyungs Chemistry was absolutely beautiful. There scenes was too cute for me to handle, I just... couldn't handle their cuteness. Now the three ajhussis were what made the drama even more funny, especially the one who was the russian girlfriend and how he always says good bye in russian, oh my gosh a crack up when he says it. Last but not least NAM GOONG MIN. WOOW I absolutely love his acting in all his dramas CAN YOU HEAR MY HEART, UNEMPLOYED ROMANCE. AND SECRET HOTEL, OMG he is so hot and handsome. His acting deserves and award no lie.

Music: I really Liked the soundtrack that's all I have to say for music.

Rewatch: heck I'm watching it all over right. It's a definite 10 for the rewatch value.

My overall for this drama is a 10, ten, and even more tens.

My sis thought that this drama was a little draggy but it was worth a shot because I liked Yoochun (so maybe I'm a little biased... heh).

Story: This story is so frustrating but because of that I think it was enjoyable to the end - you'll be left wondering, and craving for a new episode to see what happens next. The villain is brilliant in the show, and as with most mysteries and crime cases, this one left me wanting to know what happened next, so unknowingly I finished the drama (.__.|)

The resolution at the end of the show tied everything up nicely. Regarding comments on its dragginess.... I think it's because something always has to go wrong, but I would argue on the other hand, if it was too easy, it wouldn't be as meaningful to the plot anymore; which is why I was okay with it stretching out.

My only gripe is where there are plot holes, where I'd go "they could have just... (done something)" which would've solved the case faster, but I guess (the action) it was intentionally left unexplored this way for conflict in plot :/ (although I feel that IRL the S.Korean police would probably have more... efficient methods.)

Acting/Cast: This is actually my first Yoochun drama, and I wonder why I didn't watch any of his previous drams earlier. He is so adorable here! He's not THE BEST actor, but I think he's pretty good. And OH YEAH, Sensory Couple is really funny, mostly because of him. I really liked that this drama was crime, comedy, and romance at the same time :) But yeah he's hot and a pretty decent and funny actor, so kudos to him ^^ This is also my first Shin Se Kyung drama, and yeah she fits the role really well (and she's funny too)... I'm not sure how well she'd hold out in other dramas with more complex personalities though, but that's beside the point.

But the real MVP is Nam Gung Min (as Kwon Jae Hee)... he made me feel so many things towards his role, and if you ask what kind of feelings... lets just say he's really good at being his character. Watch and you will understand. I loved the other supporting characters too, like Yoon Jin Seo (as Yeom Mi), Lee Won Jong (Detective Chief), Jo Hee Bong (Detective Ki), and Choi Tae Joon (Detective Ye). The good supporting actors were a huge reason why I gave a really good score for the cast (and Yoochun of course.)

Music: Cute, dramatic, etc. etc.... Extremely fitting in each scene, and worth listening to after the drama as well. Points. Nice music. I don't think there was a song that I didn't like/got sick of hearing (you know, some dramas severely overuse an OST in like, EVERY scene) and so I think it deserved a 9.5/10 that I gave. Such dramas are actually rare.

Summary: The Girl Who Sees Smells is light-hearted, funny yet nerve-wracking, peppered with the romance of the main leads. If you're looking for dramas that don't JUST give you romance, this is a good one to watch. It's like holding hands with your lover - it's warm and exciting, but not as hot as a kiss or quite as warm as a hug, but it still feels pretty nice anyway. Worth a watch. :)

Worst. Police. Officers. Ever.

When I read the blurb on The Girl Who Sees Scents, I was intrigued. However, I found myself getting frustrated at how badly the police work was written. I'm not a cop so this isn't a diatribe about policing. But there were common sense things that did not make sense. For example, subduing a criminal but not handcuffing him. Another example was breaking into people's homes and searching them, no cohesion about the old policeman, such as did he retire or did he resign. There was no real resolution about the killer's motives. The only bright spot for me was the acting of Namkoong Min as Chef Kwon. The slow, methodical way in which he played his character was the lone standout in this show to the point that I was rooting for him to win. It's a pity because just a little more attention to detail could have made this a better show.

Only good thing about this drama is Nam goong mins’s acting.

Omg! Pure torture! Drama turned out to be worse than what i expected. Average acting and incompetent police make bad writing even more obvious. Lot of pot-holes and lot of stupid characters. Other than main lady police officer, non of the officers can solve any case on their own without the help of a girl- who sees scent.
Writers have added lot of irrelevant scenes in the end to increase the length of the drama. Actors explain every little thing in the drama as they are doing it as if viewers are dumb.

Other than Nam goong min’s acting there is nothing in this drama. He is amazing and only smart person in the drama and on the contrary Shin se kyung is bad as usual. She is same in every drama. Park yoo chun is average. I have only seen one of his other dramas- rooftop prince. He was okay in there. Similar roles.

OH man, I binged this drama in three days after deciding to watch it on a whim. I'm not a picky drama reviewer. If I like it, I'll give it a 10. And even though this drama had some flaws, I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the ride it took me on. The villain in this show is insane. He is an evil mastermind and yet comes off as so smooth and charismatic you can't help but like him. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time because of how many steps ahead he was of the police. Although, with the way the police in this show operates, it doesn't take much to outsmart them. I thought this drama would drag in the middle like romcoms usually do, but I didn't find myself bored while watching this at all. The pacing between tense moments of cat and mouse was balanced out well with the cuteness of the main couple. They were adorable! Shin Se Kyung and the main lead had such great chemistry. So many cute moments and thankfully there wasn't a ton of internal angst. But the real star of this drama has to be the Lieutenant Yeom Mi. I loved her! Never have I loved a second female lead so much. Not only was she smart (that switch with Cho Rim snatched my wig right off), she was beautiful and kind and just a badass. There were some flaws in the story here and there. The whole one eye turning green and being able to see scents was kind of out there but it was still an interesting story idea. The cops frustrated the heck out of me but we got a nice ending with everything tied up in a nice bow and I felt satisfied after the show was over. All in all, this drama was a pleasant way to spend 16 hours and I can definitely see myself rewatching this later.

I absolutely loved this drama and managed to watch episode 9-end in one sitting! It got me hooked from the beginning and the storyline was great! I loved the romance, suspense and comedy in this series and all the actors were great! This is my first time I watched park you chun in a drama and he was really good! Will be watching his older dramas soon.

I give this drama a 9.5 as it had some flaws and some unanswered questions and the last 20 mins or so of the series was irrelevant but overall a really good drama that I would recommend to everyone.

First of all, I completely understand the problems people had with this drama. I almost didn't even bother watching it because of that, but let me tell you, I'm very glad I did, because with this particular drama, I think it's still possible to enjoy it while algo acknowledging it could've been better.

I will give you two reasons to watch this. Park Yoochun and Shin Se Kyung. They are A.DO.RA.BLE. I really can't imagine anyone better to play these two characters. I know so many people that have changed their opinion about SSK after this drama, so if your only reason for not watching is her, do yourselves a favor and go watch it now :)

Anyway, the story starts out pretty solid as we learn more about our main characters. It's very fast paced in the first half of the drama, which is probably why it starts to get a bit slower towards the second half. It's still enjoyable, but I think the main problem is that the writers revealed too much ahead of time, so that's why there comes a moment when for about four episodes we're just going round in circles with basically the same thing happening.

Still, even if the main story suffered a bit towards the end, the interactions between Moo Gak and Cho Rim and the rest of the gang kept me watching.
Na Gong Min does a great job here I gotta say. And guess one of the best things about this drama? NO ANNOYING SECOND LEADS! *YAY*

Overall, good drama with a solid story that wasn't so solid during its entire run but with the rest being so entertaining that it's possible to overlook it and just focus on the good stuff.

I'M LIVING FOR THE VILLAIN HERE.

As we can all see the title says it all 'the girl who can see smells' they really know how to incorporate such abilities in the whole drama I love the eyes of Cho Rim it reminds me of Go Ara's eye in Black both are amazing. Although there is really no exact reason as to how she obtain such abilities to see smells( which I know most of us wish to have but not possible hahah) I stll love the whole production and the visual effects it really makes viewers to keep going ( good choice of background music as always) and major acting, love the twist, and the Lieutenant Yeom but to be honest I didn't really liked her character at first but eventually it grew in me that she's doing everything for the case. to solve.

Maybe I was so focused in the mystery, thrill and crime part where I forgot there should be a romance involved, I don't know about the other's opinion but for me because the series is more focused about the crimes and investigations that I often don't feel any romance in this drama, more like a big brother being protective of his little sister vibe between the two of them until they kissed in whichever episode it was haha I forgot coz I've watched this for a couple of months ago. The spark just started when they kissed that's it! after that it was your usual gushing moments and oh it could be better if they added a confession part here.

And also maybe because Cho Rim is an adult so they needed to look for any Job role that she can partake but for me Comedy Job is not pulling it. I didn't laugh and I didn't find it funny whenever that scene comes up except for that one time when she and Moo Gak showed their skit to Cho Rim boss I laughed my ass off Moo Gak was soooo funny that's it apart from that is boring.

And lastly as what written on the headline I am living for Jae Hee this is the first time I saw him acting as a villain actually I've never seen him that much before , he really pulled off the card of being a villain in this drama. Everyone likes a handsome, packed, famous and mysterious villain in any drama, right? of course that includes me I simp for them hahah.

Overall 8.oo

So unrealistic like they didn't even try

Okay, I get that it's a fiction story. However, there are a couple of things that I cannot "let go" just because it's fiction:

1. Synesthesia doesn't work like this. Yes, the person with synesthesia might see scents, but not purely see without feeling the smell. The basics of how synesthesia works: when some part of brain senses the trigger, it activates not only related, but one more part. Meaning that you can hear and see, smell and hear, etc. What you cannot do is see the smell without hearing it - like when you are standing behind the glass or with nose closed. If that would be possible, MC would be able to see smells by photo. That's just so absurd that it pisses the hell out of me. Also, just why should eye be different, and ability working on one eye only? It's a brain condition, not eye.

2. Cliché: people with rare disorders. These people do exist, and it's totally ok to have them in a series, however, the point is that such disorders are actually RARE. And 3 people with rare disorders, caused by trauma (synesthesia, having no senses, and face blindness) meeting together is either laboratory or a beginning of the joke. Or they had some "club" and decided to meet. It's close to impossible for them all to be connected like this.

3. Very, very prolonged series. You already showed that main characters are getting married - why do you need details of that additional investigation to make them decide they want to work in that field? Just leaving that dinner scene (where "Oh this is from X whom I helped, this is from Y whom I helped" could have ended up a nice conversation about "You know, I wish to continue working on cases". Why do we need a full episode - no idea.

4. Police not able to work without a person with superpowers. For real, that last scene, where cops are desperate with amount of cases where people need help - just how they were working all this time? How were they solving crimes without MC?

5. Cliché 2 (and this one is super butthurting): you found out that something in your past affected your spouse in a bad way, and they don't know about it. You feel guilty. What to do? Of course, break up without telling the real reason, just "I stopped loving you". No, that's not how it works! You talk and express your feelings. This cliché is just too much.

6. Keeping secrets: at the beginning I was really happy that no matter what characters find out, they share it with the team, and we go further with the investigation. But at some point they just stopped, and started keeping secrets - while revealing the trooth could have helped solve the cases faster.

7. Young MC. I really like Shin Se Kyung's acting and so on, but why does she always play the younger version of herself as well? I mean, she is beautiful, but in any way doesn't look like a high schooler. She and Kim So Hyun are supposed to be ~ the same age in flashbacks - but I'd be damned if you can look at them and honestly say that they look like the same age. The person in 30, no matter how young they look, should not play a high schooler.

8. Corpses. They didn't even try to apply some basic "corpse" make-up for actors. One thing is a person who was in a car for a day or two - being with a normal, even a bit tanned skin - but the person who was in the river for a couple of days, and dead a day before that - looking like a sleeping person is just too much. They didn't even try making them look dead. Check A Korean Odyssey - there make-up is top-class in this matter. Here you can't tell alive and dead person apart.

I'm sure there were much more things that made me upset in this series, but I'll stop here.
