what IS wrong with WWWSK???

i've marked where the spoilers start, so most of this should be okay to read without having watched it yet

the only good part about this romcom is the side characters and the mystery sideplot!

well, i liked this show because the characters can be pretty fun, especially the side characters, they had some really fun moments, its a light watch and its something you dont have to pay too much attention to to understand

i dislike this show for a few reasons!

1. the main couples romance isnt actually the interesting part of the story. for the entire series, my interest was only held up by the fact that i really wanted to know what happened to miso, youngjoon and youngjoons brother in their childhood -- with their fucked up family dynamics and trauma, i wanted to know how the brothers got mixed up... i dont think the reveal was great, but to me, it was satisfying enough because they made up for the weird reasonings regarding the brothers' memory mixups by having the family actually acknowledge their mistake for like half an episode or so LMAO (the bar is THAT low)

2. after the infamous episode 12, the only interesting thing about this show is the side characters, we already know what will happen with miso and youngjoon
youngjoon as a character is pretty endearing sometimes, but misos character is literally a joke, which brings me to -

3. misos character never actually gets any development, she is so static... she wasnt written very well in general
they just didnt let her have any opinions/boundaries at all! and every time she DID have an opinion/boundary, they would make her regret saying it out loud and just go back to being her usual peoplepleasing self. this WHOLE series just goes like this:
> miso has a boundary
> miso expresses boundary
> youngjoon is confused because miso doesnt explain anything
> youngjoon goes to mr park to talk it out instead of talking to miso about it
> mr park somehow explains exactly whats going on in a way youngjoon understands
> youngjoon accepts misos boundaries
>but MISO now feels BAD about having boundaries, either because she feels bad that youngjoon is doing the bare fucking minimum when it comes to taking care of her, or because someone else makes her feel bad for having a boundary
> miso apologizes and tells youngjoon to go right back to treating her how he's always treated her
they repeat this same plot over and over and over again -- this way, youngjoon gets development, but miso always stays RIGHT in the same place she always is at, she NEVER develops, or if she does, she doesnt stay there for long before she regresses right back into how she was before they got into a relationship again, she never changes

[spoilers start here]
one thing i will never get over is how they literally made her feel bad. about not being ready to have sex yet. even doe youngjoon came to understand that he needed to slow down. everything about that plotline wouldve been perfectly reasonable if it had just been miso and youngjoon communicating and if the writers had stopped before they made miso feel bad about not being ready to have sex yet, if they had juuuust left it at "shes not ready to have sex yet and this is how you have a healthy relationship with boundaries". i literally cannot believe they did that to her lol

and even the way this series started is just totally meaningless in the end. she NEVER goes on to leave her job!! NEVER!! even THAT, which was set up from the fucking beginning, she goes back on! she doesnt get ANYTHING for herself ever... i really cant even make the excuse of "well she chose it for herself because she realized she was happier working with youngjoon" here, just because theres this pattern throughout the entire series of her peoplepleasing and being insecure in whatever she does, not being able to stand up for herself without feeling like shit about it later and then going back on her boundaries. i just wish the show would have let her at least have that freedom

4. the fact that this story is not about mr. go...
i fucking DESPISED mr. go in the beginning but he went on to have such AMAZING character development throughout the show, his story absolutely wrecked my heart and i wish this entire series was just about him and jiah, that would have made a MUUUUCH better series in my opinion
their plot, just with the very limited screentime they got, was genuinely heartwrenching to me, and i cant help but feel they wasted so much potential in just keeping their entire plotline to those last 4 episodes...

i could probably nitpick more i disliked but yeah, basically, this show was good at building up the mystery, the reveal wasnt the best but its whatever, it was satisfying enough i guess, and then after the mystery trauma magically got resolved, you can just focus on the side characters you like!
i think they just went with a plan of "lets keep them watching to at least episode 12, and after that that they will have to watch the rest because theyre in too deep now"

STORY: Well, this wasn't a unique story whatsoever but the writing of the plot as well as the development of the characters we're very well written. It's about a vice chairman who has narcissistic personality and his secretary for nine years. I like that there were other stories from other couple and that there's a deep backstory about the main couple.
ACTING/CAST: Well, I honestly watched any drama with Park Seo Joon in it. That's how I love him, haaha! also, Park Min Young is really pretty (I also liked her in Healer and Sungkyunkwan Scandal) the other supporting characters were super fun too! especially Ms Bong and Mr Yang hahaha they were so cute!
MUSIC: The music is not bad too!
REWATCH VALUE: So far, I've finished the drama just yesterday but I haven't the urge to rewatch it, but I am pretty sure I would have the urge to rewatch it in a few months time. HHAHAHAHA
OVERALL: 9/10 (I basically watched it at first because of PSJ but stayed because I actually kind of like the plot, it was a bit cliche but not too heavy on the drama)

Overall, What's Wrong With Secretary Kim was an enjoyable show. At first I cringed because the CEO said that he has an impeccable aura however, after watching the entire series, he really does have a strong aura of success and confidence. The plot was unpredictable at times which gave the show a really nice spark. The writers managed to integrate mystery, comedy and romance into the show.
Personally, I prefer historical shows, like Empress Ki or Queen Seondoek however, I did enjoy watching What's Wrong With Secretary Kim. The cast is attractive and the plot is surprisingly good. I think that I binged watched this in about a week with a friend.
Overall, I would recommend this show to a friend... 8.5/10

AURA

I'll start off by saying I am in no way a professional critic I am just a girl saying what's on my mind so do with that what you will.
Let's get this show on the road.

Yes, would recommend it. THE SHOWER scene every morning shot we get of him is great. 10/10 would watch again. It wasn't rushed. Quite funny had a Lil giggle every now and then and I like how it wasn't just focused on the main couple but had Lil side stories too. I'll say it again those shower scenes...DAMN. Also, just enough sadness like Woah those twists really had me questioning everything. IF I SEE THAT BROTHER THOUGH IT'S ON SIGHT IDC IF HE WAS 10 WHEN IT HAPPENED IT'S ON SIGHT. Let me say once again this show was not afraid to get a little PG13 if you know what I'm saying (*insert smirk)

I honestly didn't know if I was gonna like this drama the main reason I wanted to watch it was because of Park Seo-Joon because I love his acting. But I really ended up enjoying it and had a bit of a fun time watching it, there were times I kinda felt like it was dragging but it was slowly getting better at the end.

Mi So was such a hardworking woman and such a badass at it, this is probably why her character because that.
For Young Joon, I like that he was serious at first when we meet him but then turn out to be a whole dork through the whole show.
I also thought that both Park Seo Joon & Park Min Young were great in this show and had amazing chemistry.
As for Mi So and Young Joon, I found them very cute and a bit trophy at times. I also loved the banter they had with each other that was probably was my favorite thing about them. This was a show where I didn't need to think much of the backstory and can just focus on the couple for how fluffy and cute they are. This was kinda upsetting because I was interested in the backstory initially but then later through the show, I kind of lost my interest.

The OST is not considered one of my favorites but I did enjoy it.
My favorite songs would be: Because I Only See You - Kim Na Young and The First Words - Song Yuvin

Simple yet entertaining

Plot: I would like to think that the plot is kinda predictable however the drama is saved by the funny side characters and PSJ’s charm. He’s definitely the king of RomCom in Korea for me.

Acting: They all did great except for the brother. I wasn’t really convinced that he liked Mi-so.

Music: Honestly, I skipped PSJ’s lullaby and piano scenes but other sound effects were really cute and on point so I gave high marks for that.

Rewatch value: I could definitely see myself rewatching this drama because it was just light and sweet. It’s exactly what a romantic comedy drama is. Don’t expect too much on the story, just go with the flow and you’ll enjoy this series.

Overall: But since I have watched better dramas in terms of depth and climax, I would rate this 7.5 to 8. It wasn’t memorable but the humor is definitely enjoyable. I didn’t press the fast forward button that much, especially about the side characters because they were highly entertaining for me.

PS: I can’t stop admiring PSJ’s body here, especially his butt. He looked divine in every suit. Hahaha~!

As an overview, I want to say that this drama is perfect for anyone who is a fan of webtoons. I have yet to see another webtoon-based drama that so perfectly captures the essence of what makes webtoons enjoyable, from the pacing, to the characters, and to the romantic scenes. And of course, those who like a lot of skinship in their dramas would enjoy this too.

Pacing: This drama was SUCH a breath of fresh air. The leads actually spent the whole drama together, with none of that contrived "I love you but I hate you" nonsense that keeps the characters separated for episodes on end. The push and pull dynamic of the first half, when they were yet to get together was exciting and fun to watch, but what I love about this drama is the pacing of the second half. Once they get together, each episode has its own mini plotline that features the characters/their romance facing a problem, and then resolving it by the end, usually alongside some very compelling physical intimacy. Each episode is chock-full of cute moments between the leads, and it makes it so fun and heart-warming to watch.

Subplots: There are three main subplots: the comic relief romance between some quirky co-workers, the cute and heart-warming romance of the coworkers with well developed characters, and the mystery subplot of the main character's past (no corporate subplot!!!!). And, coming, from someone who normally hates the subplots, each of them are extraordinarily well paced and add something to the story. Each of the subplots and side characters are developed throughout the course of the show, allowing time to get invested and not make it feel like it came out of nowhere, or was forced in at the end, like so many other dramas.

Acting: I mean, casting Park Seojoon and Park Minyoung as the lead roles? There was no way that the acting could be anything but amazing. Both actors portrayed the original webtoon characters incredibly well, and their chemistry was also commendable!

Amazing

I absolutely love this drama, it's hilarious, has an amazing cast and a solid story to finish it all off.

I find it is very hard to pull off a drama like this one but they do it so flawlessly. The female lead is amazingly independent and shows the best of where hard work and dedication can get you. The male lead is just as amazing for completely different reasons, his goofiness and charm as well as pulling his finger out when he needs to. The fact that this drama shows what seems such a strong independent man actually needs help more often than not.

I love the romance in this as well, its just too cute and adorable, I just love watching him chase her! Also I cant give enough credit to the supporting cast in this drama for making me laugh so much!!! It is one of the few I have rewatched and could just for the side characters.

If you have not watched this already I recommend to start watching it right now! You wont regret it :)

Pretty simple and good drama if you're in the right mood for it

What's Wrong With Secretary Kim? is a drama that I quite liked when I first watched it, but it didn't really age well for me. I tried re-watching it completely twice, but I can never finish it.

Now, this show is pretty enjoyable if you're looking for a rom-com that you can simply shut you brain off and relax. The lead couple have a nice chemistry and there's some quite funny scenes. Although the male lead mainly consists of your stereotypical chaebol, I think Park Seo Joon's protrayal paints the character in a much more entertaining light and makes the narcissism of his character instead of annoying and petty, very funny and charming. Park Min Young does a good enough job, nothing outstanding, though. But for me the best characters was still, by far, Yoo Sik. He was a nice comedic relief, even though he was facing constant trouble and personal life issues, while still giving pretty good advice. Also the whole dynamic between the vice-president team was interesting to see.

The story is nothing impressive. Quite cliché and to be honest I felt like they stretched some subplots more than they should, which made the narrative feel draggy in many moments. The whole dispute between the brothers was extremely annoying and boring. Both of them acted petty and honestly I feel like they tried to frame Sung Yeon as the "bad guy" in this situation in order for us to root for Young Joon and realise Sung Yeon is ot the gentleman we thought, but that was not the way I took it because it felt way too forced. This plot just felt pointless and made me annoyed at both male leads while I wished they'd just make amends with one another, specially cause whole ordeal in their childhood that started it all was their parents fault.

Talking about that childhood plotline, another boring thing. I just don't think it was properly approached in this drama. It was there so we would be convinced that the main couple were destined to stay together but for me it was pretty lame. Also not sure about this, but the way they portrayed their PTSD felt very superficial as well.

Something that really bothered me was the ending. I thought it was quite nice that Mi So wanted to quit her job in order to find herself and take care of her personal life, but in the end she just gave up on her self-discovery journey cause she was dating the vice-president and that secretary job was suddenly ok with her. It makes it seem the only reason she wanted to quit in the first place was because she was horny or something, and since she got herself a boyfriend all of her problems were solved and her independency just didn't matter at all, I guess. Not to mention that the vice-president acted like a bossy tyrant to Mi So for 9 years and only started treating her properly when she was about to leave him and she was somehow ok with this entire situation.

So, all things considered, a nice fluffy drama that most rom-com fans will enjoy, but don't expect anything wonderful as it's a bit generic and tiring at some points, but fun nonetheless.

You're totally MIA. This drama was totally one of the most enjoyable dramas I ever saw, I had to rewatch! Something I rarely do. Whoever did the casting deserves an award, and the writer(s), omg! This one is totally it. I actually saw this drama very much late, you know it kept popping up on my Netflix suggestions but I just kept ignoring it until last month, again, I bet you, you're totally going to love park seo joon after this one, he was just perfect in this drama. you know the sometimes you cry, sometimes you laugh, sometimes you awwwnnn type of drama? Yeah, this is it!????

did not reach expectations

i dont undertand why this drama got such high rating. the story is bland, forgettable and overdramatic. it started out pretty well but turned super cliche as episodes went by. the childhood and trauma trope is SO titing and repititive that it felt like they were dragging the show at one point. the acting, also could have been much better. the genre is romantic so i expected some butterfly worthy scenes but nah, there was something missing. it has MANY kissing scenes but none of them got that spark TT i think if it would have been my 1st drama i would have never watched another drama again

Great drama overall. The chemistry between Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young was absolutely fantastic. The plot was original and intriguing enough to not get boring halfway through. I thought it was going to be a typical chaebol drama so I initially very much disliked PSJ's character but that faded rather quickly. 9.5/10 only because it does have the chaebol CEO/subordinate plot, the past history and backstories are just a tad too unbelievable, the OST didn't resonate with me, and the romance seemed slightly juvenile their ages which is all stuff that was just slightly irritating for me personally.
