The few good episodes are the 5 first ones and the last one. Dont be fooled the supernatural in this one is just to have the traditional makjak (young ceo fights against the villains in a corporate business plot, alongside with a poor energetic pure unfairly victimiced heroine with a tragic but surprising bakground at the end).

The secondary trio are there just for the laughts, which were too little for me, and some support... Wasting so much potential!

I know this is one of the classics and I saw it just because that reason, but, how can a plot have so many evident holes? You have to ignore so many nonsensical outcome of situations, and how they just go on with the story is something I was really amazed.

The only cliche that they don't use is childhood friends/love that dont remember about each other, and traumas, the MLdoesnt have any, so HURRAY!

All the story starts because a murder they had to solve in the past, and they ignore it most of the series just for an inheritance that didn't even want or have anything to do with the protagonist, and within 15 mins in the last episode without even investigating it, the potagonist just solves it. And that's it. The ending is one of the most confusing and short that I have ever seen.

If you want to see somethig supernatural or fantastic just don't watch this one.
If you are looking for good plot, or original ideas, the colored tracksuits are the most you are going to get.
If you are looking for the traditional rom com CEO/PRINCE falls in love with poor energetic naive girl, this is the one for you.

Just letting you know so you don't get deceived as I did.

I started watching K-dramas two years ago and this being my very first maiden drama review on this site speaks volume about "Rooftop Prince" and the impression it has left on me. Three days had passed since I completed the show and the touching scenes within the show kept flashing in my mind even when I am writing this review.

Story:
At the beginning, it seems to have the making to be just a pure comedy given the ridiculous time travel element and yes, the first few episodes were very light hearted but they did a superb job in introducing the bigger scheme of things to come as well as set the stage for an epic romance between Lee Gak/Tae Yong and Park Ha that transcend the test of time and space. There were lots of heart-warming as well as heart-wrenching moments between those two. I witnessed my wife cried like a baby on several ocassions :)

Without revealing any potential spoilers, I personally like the last two episodes and I thought it was a beautiful and poetic way to end such a wonderful show even though it does leave you with a tinge of sadness. I think the message here is love will stand the test of time and to be together is worth celebrating no matter what may happen in the future.

Cast:
I can't find a single fault with any of the actors and actresses. They were totally into their roles. I like Mickey ever since I watched him in Sungkunkwan Scandal and I thought he was already very good then. In this show, he more than better his own performance. As for Han Ji Min, well, what can I say, this is the first time I ever watched her and I am already a fully converted fan of her after this show. Everytime she cries, she has the ability to make you feel really sad for Park Ha. I am already planning to watch her Padam Padam and Yi San after this show.

Music:
The OST for this drama is simply stunning especially the main theme song (not the funny one but the sad one, those who watched the show will know which one I am referring to). The lyrics brought out the essence of the entire show perfectly. If you listen to the song together with the lyrics especially during those heart-wrenching moments, it does makes u feel like crying.

Rewatch Value:
Usually I won't rewatch dramas because you already know the plot but this is one which I will definitely rewatch again within the next 3 months. It was that good!

At fist when this drama came out i wasnt to excited to see it. I saw the first two ep. and i quit because i thought it had to much drama going on. But when the whole drama was finish and i had not thing else to see i give this drama a try. Man, did i get the wrong idea about this drama. I ended it loving it more than my favorite drama, boys over flowers. Rooftop Prince was full of romance, part that made tears come out, parts where things turn out to be different to what i thought would happen, but the best part about this drama was that there was no ep. that didn't make me laugh until my face turn red. Loved the actors, more the four boys, there were the cutest and funniest in this whole drama. i really really recommened this drama who look to have a great time.

Warning: Do not see this drama in a place where people are sleeping because you will wake people up with laughing to much. Happened to me in the middlle of the night. i woke up my baby sister and my parents made me put her to sleep again!

At first I refused to watch this drama because all of the guys on the cover were wearing track suites. Eventually I realized what a stupid reason that was not to watch what looked like a really great drama, so I watched it.
The story is complicated but easy to keep up with. The first five episodes of this drama are ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS! then it evens out into a more engaging story line with a lot of really funny parts, but less extreme on the humor. That's okay though because it's still entertaining and the plot really sucks you in.
The acting was good. I shouldn't really judge cause I cant tell the difference between good and bad acting unless it's REALLY obvious, so it must have been okay. The main girl and four main guys are really fun together. Like, so great that even I can tell ;)
Didn't really care for the music but they didn't play anything out of place.
I would (and probably will) re-watch the first five episodes any day and all day! But now that I know how the mystery ends I probably wont watch the whole thing over. That being said, I did finish this drama some three days ago, maybe in a month I'll have a sudden desperate need to watch the whole thing played out again. But probably not.
Over all as soon as I finished this drama I just sat stunned in my chair for a couple of minutes thinking "Wow. This was AMAZING!". I waited a few days before writing this review just to be sure it truly is that amazing.
Trust me, it is.

Warning: bitter sweet ending!
Side note: Don't worry, they lose the track suites eventually :)

This drama was beautifully made, from the outstanding storyline to the heartfelt music- everything was perfect. I didn't have any moments where I was bored and wanted to drop it. It was truly moving. If you like romance and comedy and you haven't watched this yet, you are missing out on SO much I can't even begin to explain. So get a start on it now! :D
Don't be put off by the historical theme as it is very well incorporated into the story, a majority of the drama is spent in the modern times. You will NOT be disappointed. In fact you'll probably start loving historical dramas after this.

Story- As I said before, the plot of this drama is really unique. Of course there are many time-traveling drama out this year but that doesn't stop this drama from being put into that stereotypical genre. It had a many mind blowing twists which were not disappointing. I really liked the riddle and mystery that we were left wondering about. Of course, the drama does not fail to bring an interesting conclusion which answers all your questions. Also, you will be hooked until the last episode. The magic of the Joseon era combined with the modern era is all bundled up to make this drama; the best drama of the year.

Acting/Cast- The cast were great! Quite a lot of famous people like Yoochun and Han Ji Min, who are well known for their great acting, were present and contributed well. I'm glad they picked Yoochun to be the character he plays because he did an excellent job on his part. I heard that he also received two awards because of his acting in this drama. The villains here were hated intensely by a lot of the viewers and this means that the actors did an absolutely tremendous job.

Everyone who's seen this will agree that the 3 funny side kicks were one of the main reasons why they enjoyed this. They were hilarious at times but also serious when they were required to be. Also I recognized Lee Min Ho/Man Bo. He was also in another historical drama with Yoochun (Sungkyunkwan Scandal) and I watched that one two dramas before this one so I was so glad to see him finally appear more often. His acting was great. :)

Music- The soundtrack selected for this drama was absolutely flawless. The sad scenes were matched with heart-breaking songs which literally made me cry. The funny scenes had a playful tune and made me feel so happy (Yes, I found myself smiling like an idiot at times XD) Also Jay Park's song is in this OST which was really surprising for me at first because once you hear his voice you will fall in love with him.

Rewatch Value- I would NEVER rewatch dramas mainly because of the fact that I already know what happens but I think I'd really like to watch this one again and experience all the fun and sad times that this drama has to offer. I'd watch this with someone special.. like a boyfriend or someone. hehe ^^

To sum this drama up in one word it would be: Indescribable

Tears of both happiness and sadness were shed. ;-;

This Drama was amazing! I love the story line, it's not those typical time traveling dramas. You must watch it. I wouldn't watch it again but that's because I don't like re-watching a drama. If you haven't watched this drama you really should. The music really goes well with the Joseon era scenes.
You can watch this Drama on Youtube, Drama load, Ep drama & DramaFever (To watch it on Drama fever you must be a USA resident, I'm not so I couldn't watch it on there :p)

Total score : 100/100 It's really a good Drama ^^

Holy crap. This is a must-watch drama.

Story&Acting;/Cast:
The plot of this was very interesting and the first episode will have you captivated. If not, you'll be hooked by the second one. Honestly, I started to watch because Yoochun was the lead but then I ended up falling in love with all the characters with the exception of the antagonists who I deeply hated. The actors were very believable and took on their roles extremely well. This is the type of rom-com that I've been looking for. There's the moments where you laugh so hard that you can't breathe and the intense moments where you're on the edge of your seat. The whole time I was watching this, I kept thinking "the scriptwriters are brilliant". They tied everything together so well. Oh, and I absolutely loved how they handled the antagonists. Very nice.
I'm always hesitant on saying a drama is my favorite when I'm not completely done because endings can make or break it. And usually, they tend to disappoint me. However, with Rooftop Prince, this ending is definitely a favorite. It was a good conclusion and up to your own interpretation.

Music:
Baek Ji Young's powerful voice makes the mood of whatever is going on that much more emotional. And when needed, there's Jay Park to light up the mood with "Happy Ending". I have my own Rooftop Prince playlist on my iPod and I like to listen to it occasionally. One of my favorite OSTs.

Rewatch Value:
Usually I don't rewatch dramas because I already know what has happened but I feel like I need to rewatch this to get the smaller hints, ones that I haven't noticed before.

Overall:
Seriously, go watch it and make sure to have a box of tissues when you're near the end. I don't think I have cried that hard for a drama in a long time.

The story, my god. It was amazing. There are twists and turns around every corner. YOU'LL THINK YOU KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN, BUT YOU'RE WRONG. The writers have crafted this story so well.

The cast----they stick onto you. Even when the drama's over, you'll have their faces and obsession over omourice engraved into your head. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the acting. I sat in the corner of my room and cried my butt off. When Lee Gak and Park Ha cry, it's so sincere that I get goosebumps.

The music---it's very catchy. But they keep replaying it over and over again. There was a part in Episode 20 that the music was abruptly cut off. Other than that, everything was A-OK.

Many people can get confused by the storyline.
So it's a definite MUST, to rewatch the drama. You might catch things that you've missed. ;D

Overall, I definitely recommend this drama to those who can handle mood swings. One episode and you'll be hooked. Dare to test my theory?

Rooftop Prince has one of THE BEST first episodes among dramas I've watched. It pulls you in with quick pacing, multiple plot lines, time jumps and flashes of mysterious occurrences, and you can’t help but wonder how the heck everything and everyone are connected! It’s incredibly well written and executed.

In its entirety though, the drama is about three parts amazing and one part painfully annoying.

I genuinely liked all of the characters in this drama. The writers took care in creating unique, quirky personality traits for each character, and I really enjoyed learning about everyone as the intricate mysteries unfolded. My favorite characters being the boys from Joseon. I am a sucker for male camaraderie and adored watching them goofily interact and navigate through the plot. I was especially enamored with Micky Yoochun and his excellent portrayal of the prideful and serious crown prince. I would honestly re-watch this entire series just to listen to his old Korean accent as he incredulously shouts and screams at everyone! It just tickled me!

There’s something to be said about the “bad guys” in Rooftop Prince. Basically, they ran the show. They were so good at being bad, that watching them commit hateful, vindictive sin after sin and get away with evil after evil after evil became exciting. I would think, hell, what *else* can they get away with?? The antagonists in this drama were much stronger than the protagonists (almost TOO strong, but I’ll get to that next). But it doesn't mean that I liked the antagonists more--which was a delicate line to walk for the writers. I shouldn't root for the bad guys, but I don’t want to hate them with a burning hellish fire, either... Takes too much energy.

Now I need to complain. As I mentioned earlier, the bad guys were too strong. So strong, that in order for them to continuously do dastardly deeds, the writers needed the protagonists to betray their original character traits, and that bothered me.

For the bulk of the series, the lead protagonists are presented as strong, smart and fairly perceptive individuals. They picked up on small cues and hints, made good decisions in dealing with the “bad guys,” thought things through.... And then they just get dumb. Dumb and gullible. And it hurt my soul. The problem is that the drama is too long. At 16 episodes, the leads could have stayed smart and the story could have been wrapped up. But the longer the drama went on, the dumber and more naive they had to be to allow the bad guys to continuously get away with their evil trickery.

On the whole though, I had a lot of fun watching Rooftop Prince and I’d easily recommend it to anyone. Thankfully, the plot line was strong enough (and lead characters likable enough)to where I could suffer through the annoying bits. Through those times, I’d be screaming on the inside, “AHHH I JUST NEED TO KNOW HOW THIS ENDS!!!!” And the fact that I cared that much was evidence enough that there was indeed something very right about this drama.

Okay Micky Yoochun, Lee Min Ho-I, Choi Woo Sik, and Jeong Seok-won, can I tell you these guys with their hair, really, really cute without the hair, what more can I say?
One of the best really rated above 10.
The story about the Chosen dynasty, evil sister, evil wanna be heir.
Love is in the mix which makes it all worthwhile.
the story line is filled with history, romance, comedy, action, (really), tears, you'll be crying and laughing at the antics of these 4 at the same time.
Not boring at all, a must watch, you'll be hooked from the first episode and the OST is amazing.
And oh yeah, kiss scene!!

"There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single flashing, throbbing moment."

This is the story of an endless love. A love that transcend eras. A love so powerful, not even dead can take it apart. Add to that, comedy, mystery, intrigue and an entourage that are sweet as honey, though as metal, and lovely as a teddy bear!

All I have to say is...You would be with the person, you're destined to be and love, in this life...or the other.

Why oh why? But this drama just deserved an all out 10 for me! (^-^)
Everything was simply amazing... MYSTERY + COMEDY + ROMANCE = ROOFTOP PRINCE!

The story was fresh, entertaining, and I guess, intelligently written. I have watched hundred of dramas already, but as far as I can remember, this is the only drama that caught my attention from START to END. I mean, it's the only drama that started with a 10 and remained 10 all throughout the end. Other drama might start with a 10 but the excitement would slowly go down in the middle and then go back up high at the end BUT rooftop prince is just different, each episode was exciting enough for me and it would feed up your curiosity up to the end.

The cast was SUPERB. Yoochun and Ji Min, might not have that great chemistry but I guess they're just so good with their characters that it would make you believe they are really in love with each other. Yong Sul, Man Bo and Chi San, were simply entertaining! Their cuteness are just.... uh-oh..... can't be explained! They're just so cute! The villains, Se Na and Tae Mo, were great too... Villains til the end! Their evilness would make you want to strangle them both...

Music was outstanding and fun. A mix of traditional and modern sound (as what I believe, hehehe). It was cute just like the story. Rewatch value would definitely be a 10 as well! It would definitely push you to watch it all over again (I'm planning to watch RP again, atm, even after just finishing the last episode... hehe, though I usually don't rewatch dramas after a couple of years, or sometimes I just don't watch a drama that I've already seen, RP would be an exception (just like GOONG!)

Overall, RP deserves a 10! One, who loves dramas, should definitely watch ROOFTOP PRINCE! You would missed half of your life if you WON'T watch ROOFTOP PRINCE! kekeke... I would miss RP! Best drama for 2012 so far!

If you want a drama where you could laugh your heart out, shed bucket of tears, become "detective-like" in guessing the next scenes... then ROOFTOP PRINCE is the right drama for you!
